My Compaq CQ60-Windows 7 Home Premium of the 420US went wrong.

The machine was initially delivered with Vista and then upgarded to W7 HP (32 bit).

To do a clean installation of Windows, start with Vista? And then upgrade?

You are the very welcome.

You can't have a new recovery partition without the purchase of a set of HP recovery disks, that will repair the recovery disk partition.

What you can do is to get a portable hard drive and use the Windows backup tool to create an image of the installation system once you have everything you want on your PC.

So if something goes wrong and you need to restore your PC, you connect your USB portable hard drive with the Windows image backup and if you start from the W7 ISO disc you burn, select the option fix and then tap the image to retrieve from and you should be good as new.

    Hello

Updates must be installed in a certain order and no Service Pack must be installed unless and until it is offered through Windows Update.

    However, try these options:

Step 1: You can not reuse what already automatically downloaded and installed. You can however save updates and install them manually if you wish.

Step 2: You can create a system image on the computer. A system image is an exact copy of a disc. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run. In addition, it includes Windows and your system settings, programs and files. You can use a system image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working.

  • Upgrade Windows Vista Home Premium (not the valid product key problem) to Windows 7 Home premium

My friend gave a laptop computer whose OS is Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.  I format the computer and install a Windows Vista Home Premium I have for my desktop computer.  Now, I have a problem with a product key.  When I start the laptop, it indicates a product key requirement.  I enter my desktop OS product key, but I still see the declaration valid product key.  My question is this.  If I buy the upgrade to Windows 7, the operating system will work in the laptop even if she has a problem with the product key.  If I buy Windows 7 upgrade, there will be no problem with the product key?  Or do I have to buy a new Windows Vista Home Premium for the laptop?  Or if you know anywhere I can buy a product key for Windows Vista with a reasonable price?  Thank you

    Hello:

You can transfer software from one PC to the other Microsoft retail.

The sticker on your old PC that fried itself is an OEM operating system.

Using a product key OEM on another PC is a violation of the Microsoft OEM license agreement.

  • Validation in Windows Vista Home Premium at the start: errors and complications.

I was directed to this forum as a last chance for my situation.  I'll copy what I wrote before:

First of all: I can't run Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.

With that of the road, I'll try to explain my situation.  Earlier today, I ran in the hope to get rid of some unnecessary files in disk cleanup. Well, he eventually delete most everything out of my C: drive.  So I ran a restoration of the system to an earlier time.  After the restoration, I tried to connect but received a box saying that my Windows Vista Home Premium product key is not valid.  They gave me three options:

Reduced functionality mode (does not work; see below)

    Enter the product key

Contact HP - do you have this: they wanted $ 100.

Now before to get started by offering suggestions, you need to get more information.

I can't use the reduced functionality mode.  When I click on it, an error with file not found window appears.  The only way I can access my desktop is by going into safe mode, and I can't go in safe mode with network.  So based on this little bump in the road, I was not able to use the tips I found online, because none of those working in safe mode.

Now there is more.  Frustrated, I tried to follow guides anyway.  So I followed the following steps:

    Step #3 game

    (1) open Internet browser

    (2) Type%windir%\system32into the browser address bar.

    (3) find the CMD.exe file

    (4) make a right click on CMD.exe and selectrun as administrator

    (5) type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, click Yes)

    (6) type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

    (7) type: Rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

    (8) type: cd %windir%\system32

    (9) Typenet start slsvc

    (10) type: cscript slmgr.vbs - FLIR (it may take time for this will be complete, please be patient)

    (11) restart twice

Not only that not solve my problem (since I was in safe mode I was refused permission), but it has created a new problem.  Now when I start my computer normally, IM is more given three options (reduced functionality mode, enter a product key, contact HP).

Instead, when I log on, an error pops up saying: "Insert the Windows CD or installation DVD into your computer to begin the process of resettlement." Now, my computer was shipped with windows and everything installed by the factory with the sticker on the side of the tower.  I have no Dvd or Cd.

I've had this computer for almost 3 years and I can not lose what I have on my computer. I have a genuine copy of Windows.  I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now.

  • Change Windows 7 Home premium of the French to English (display language not only)

I live in France, bought a PC with windows 7 Home premium 64 in FRENCH.

I would like to switch to English, but not just as a display language - some programs buy you downloads (games, for example) check your language version of windows and settle in that language (for example Neverwinter nights 2 of Atari).

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium with the Professional Windows 7 upgrade software?

I got a deal to get the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade for $ 100, thought that I get it.  Only now I realize that I had Vista Home Premium on my laptop, and so impossible to move to Windows 7 Pro.  I went out and bought the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade today for another $ 100 to upgrade.

Basically, can I use this software to upgrade Windows 7 Professional upgrade the copy of Windows 7 family upgrade that I just bought. If I can do:

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium< windows="" 7="" home="" premium="" upgrade="">< windows="" 7="" professional="">

I hope I explained this correctly.  I don't want to really not get stuck with a copy of Windows 7 Pro upgrade software that I can't do anything with.  Any help would be incredibly useful.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key to Windows 7 Professional on demand, click on, and then restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and your files and settings retained. Andre Da Costa http://adacosta.spaces.live.com http://www.activewin.com

  • What are the disadvantages to download Windows 7 Home Premium from the U.S. instead of the United Kingdom?

    Activation

My PC vendor failed to provide me with a product code, so I can't activate Windows. This forum told me I have to buy another copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The cost of the software during the purchase of the United States is much less expensive than when purchased in the United Kingdom. Is there any disadvantage when downloading the product of the United States?

It will work very well in the United Kingdom, there are no geographical restrictions on activation outside the United States.

  • Windows 7 Home premium install the update. When I reboot the update tries to install, but fails. I get the message "failure of windows update Setup, reverse the change.

I tried to copy the CBS.log to a folder, then opening the files to search for an error code. I couldn't find any error code. These files are large I can remember something small.

    1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programs and then click Windows Update.

  • Reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium after the passage of hard drives. Lost activation key between yesterday and today.

Everything is in the title, well enough. I bought a student upgrade copy of Windows 7 in late 2009 / early 2010 and installed it via Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro. I recently updated my hard drive, and to my dismay, did not have my backup of Windows and so I reinstalled the operating system. My only problem is that I lost the key. Can't find anywhere I tried to download a product keys Locator, but when I entered the key, it gave me it tells me that there is a default keyboard and can therefore be used for activation.

I'm kind of at a loss for what to do here. The ID of the product was rejected when I looked, but I know for a fact that this copy of Windows is legitimate, since I checked before BONE. Any help would be appreciated...
