My computer did not come with a Windows XP restore disk

My computer did not come with a restore Windows XP disc and I don't know how to get one, because my computer keeps restarting itself and that goes, "your computer must was closed incorrectly, or because of a power failure" and he gives me 3 options of safe mode and then gives me the opportunity to go to windows normally... but all the options I chose... It keeps just restarting on me... My computer did not come with a restore disc and Idk anyone who owns one... then where would I go to get one?

Some computers have a built-in hard disk recovery partition.  Search for information on this subject on the BIOS screen that appears the first thing when the computer starts.  By pressing Ctrl + F11, accesses a recovery on some Dells partition.

Otherwise, contact the computer manufacturer and ask if they can provide a restore disc.

  • XP don't boot-computer did not come with the XP CD

XP boot not - need XP Recovery CD, but it came pre-loaded on my computer, w/no CD.  Any suggestions?

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your drive HARD and correct all problems of integrity of system files caused by problems of power supply interruption and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do to get your system running.
Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.
If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.
This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.
You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.
The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:
    xp_rec_con. ISO
    Download the ISO from here:
Use this free and easy program to create your bootable CD:
Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:
    ? showtopic = 61
It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.
You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are
done before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.
When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:
Press any key to boot from CD...
    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.
Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.
Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)
You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).
You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same thing you see in the Explorer folder C:\WINDOWS.
RC allows commands the base - copy, rename, replace, delete file, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.
In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.
Running chkdsk is very well run even if she can't find any problems.
Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:
    CHKDSK C: /r
Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.  It may take a long time to complete or seem to be 'glued '.  Be patient.  If the HARD drive light flashes, it's something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.
You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.
Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.
You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.
Once finished the chkdsk/r, see if your system boots.  If this is not the case, to do this:
The next time that your system has rebooted, start tapping the F8 key until you see the menu Boot Options Advanced XP.  On the Advanced Boot Options menu, select:
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure
This will display the error message that you don't see when the system restarts.  This is what Windows is supposed to do when there a failure - it is supposed to automatically restart.  The error you see on the screen has your clues...
If you do not see the menu Options start Advancded or you do not have to turn it off automatic restart on option system in the list of choices, you need to try again until you do.  Start typing the F8 key earlier and more frequently as your system begins to come alive.  If you miss the window of opportunity F8, you must try again.

I have a HP Pavilion DM1 and it did not come with Windows Media Player 12. Or any other media thing. He is nowhere to be seen. I tried to get a download link.

I tried clicking on the download link for Windows K and KN, but it came up saying: "this update is not applicable to your computer. Windows Media Player 11 did nothing. Please help me. And please don't tell me to download other software media. Thank you.

    Hello JoeHopewell,

See if you have enabled the Windows Media Player.
    1. go to start and in the search type "Turn Windows willing or not.
    2. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
    3. find the multimedia functions and check the brand in the face of Windows Media Player.
    4 restart the computer

You can also check to see if you have enabled Windows Media Center as well.

Now, go to start, all programs. You must have Windows Media Player in the list of programs.

Please let me know if it helps.

  • How can I reinstall windows after replacing the hard drive? Laptop did not come with a disc.

My internal hard drive went bad in my laptop, easy to replace and relatively inexpensive. However, the laptop came not with the windows disk. So, how can I reinstall windows once I replaced the hard drive?

Basically, you have two choices. You can communicate with the person who made the computer and see if they can provide either a set of Windows Vista restore disks (I would assume) or an installation for Windows Vista (probably OEM) DVD. If the second choice, determine if you will need to download device drivers or software packages from their web site. OR, you can purchase the operating system of your choice, retail. The wisdom is that, if this is your choice, you see if you will need the device drivers and get those of the web site of the manufacturer.

Once you have the disks, install in the usual way.

Our printers do not come with USB cables.  If you do not have a cable connected to a previous printer, you can buy any B USB standard cable locally has to establish the connection.  It is a pretty common cable located at most major retailers office supply or electronics.

The iP2820 can only be used with a USB connection.  It doesn't have wireless capabilities.

When you log on a Windows Vista-based or a Windows 7 computer by using a temporary profile, you receive the following error message:

If you tried to log on to Windows and received an error message telling you that your user profile is damaged, you can try to fix it. You will need to create a new profile and then copy the files from the existing to the new profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to perform these operations, including the new account that you created.

and if you need to reinstall vista, here are the different ways to do it:

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

I have a Sony Vaio, which has a few years working with Windows XP Home Edition.  When I bought the computer first, I wasn't very experienced technilogically who did not think about twice the computer comes not not with an operating system cd.  In any case, now that the computer is a few years old I am aware of the importance of having this cd as a backup, if all else fails.  My problem is when I went on the Sony website where a list of retailers has been provided which might carry the recovery CD.  After phone calls and emails, I have yet to find one that still bears then Sony Vaio Recovery Set.  I always have my genuine key of Windows Xp, as well as of the receipt of the purchase of the computer.  I'm more concerned with a new installation or not all original came with my computer (ie. sony) programs.  My concern is just to find a real cd that I can use in the unfortunate situation where I have to reinstall my operating system.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for your time.

Maybe you have a recovery partition.

Pressing F10 or F11 key when you turn on your system can put you in a recovery partition.
