  You don't say how Vista has been reinstalled.

  Looking for a windows.old folder and if you find one, see if you can save your data from it.

  Is the word missing (one of the Microsoft Office components)? Your document files are missing (usually with the extension doc or docx files)?
  If the word is missing, try to navigate in the Panel and watch ads in Add/Remove programs. If the office is there, try to click on it and reinstall Word. If anything, and if you have the installation disk, run the installation of the drive to restore Word.
  If your documents are missing, try looking in the Recycle Bin. Default and if you have no backups, obtain an undelete program (search Bing or Google - there are those who are free) and use it to see if there is any recoverable on the hard drive.
