my computer is EVEREX microsoft2000 Home Edition XP

The drive came with my computer, how can I get the disc or drive to wipe my PC or at least to recover PC to factory and defects parameters. Thank you Shirley

Hello!

I assume you mean system restore disk to restore your computer to its state when it has been created by the manufacturer. Well, if don't have it don't worry, try to recover a disk of Windows XP Professional from any where where its commercial version is available. Borrow from someone you know if you can not afford to pay for it. And own instasll with the option of formatting your disks. This will give you a brand-new and problems without experience of XP.

Concerning

Zeeshan Ahmad

Please note that when Shirley says "the disc is not come with my computer", she speaks a computer came with Windows preinstalled. This means that it is an OEM version.

To legally use a borrowed installation CD, it must be able to use its product key (it should be on a sticker on the computer case) with her. The CD must match the product key with regard to Full vs Upgrade retail or OEM and home vs. professional; If this isn't CMAT, th eproduct button doesn't work. She cannot use a retail CD as you say, so she can't use a professional copy either.

Shirley, contact Everex to see if they can help you, but my guess is that with XP being so old, they don't have anything for you and you are out of luck. You can't even buy a XP CD anywhere unless you can find one used (and if you try to buy one, stay away from eBay, where he is likely to be hacked).

And Shirley, a question for you: whty you want to do this? Are you sure it's necessary. Except in rare cases, it's the worst possible response to a problem. If you have a problem, post the details here, and there is a good chance that someone will have a better solution for you.

Why when I run the installer for Windows 8 consumer preview on my computer of Windows XP Home Edition he says: "this platform is not supported"?

You can see this message if you downloaded Windows 8 64-bit and XP 32-bit. To start the installation of Windows 8, you will need to restart and boot from the installation of Windows 8 media.

If you want to keep your current installation of Windows, you can install it on a separate partition and dual boot with the Windows 8 Preview of consumer. To install on a separate partition and dual boot, you must create and boot from the installation media.

    (1) first you will need a free partition on hard drive - if you do not you can shrink a partition and create a new one to install Windows 8 Preview of consumer on.
To reduce a partition and add a new one that you can use EASEUS Partition Master (free):
    http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm

    (2) to install on a separate disk, you can perform an installation DVD or USB key, then boot from it so you can choose the other partition. To download the ISO file and install media:
Download Windows 8 consumer Preview ISO:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/ISO
After you download the ISO file - use the Windows USB/DVD Download tool to install media:
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

    (3) installation on a separate partition for dual boot:
1 make a DVD or USB installation drive - to see the two options above.
    2. start from the DVD or USB install drive and click on install when prompted.
    3. during the installation process, when asked - choose a custom installation.
    4. Select a free partition on the hard disk to install Windows 8 Preview of consumer - this will install Windows 8 on a separate instead of your current Windows partition partition.
    5 continue with the installation.

    First of all please note:
1 consumer preview Windows 8 is a pre-release and will only work for a limited time - when it expires, you need to remove it.
    2. the overview of consumption is stable and has been tested, but it s not the finished product. Your PC may crash and you may lose important files. You should backup your data and you shouldn't test Windows 8 Preview of consumers on your primary home or business PC.
    3. If you install the preview of consumption on the Windows partition is currently installed, you cannot uninstall the preview of consumption. To return to your previous version of Windows, you will need to reinstall from the recovery or installation media supplied with your PC.
    4. in addition to dual boot, here are a few methods to install Windows 8 Preview of consumers without affecting your current installation of Windows:
    (A) remove your current hard drive and install the Preview of consumers on a spare drive.
    (B) install it on a spare computer.
    (C) install the Preview of consumer in a virtual machine.

  • I'm temporarily using a diesel powered computer, running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

I temporarily uses a computer filled with diesel fuel, until I can afford to replace it with an updated model. It is using Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
The problem is that it's totally out of memory and as far as I know, I deleted everything I can, short of service packs and security features, such as malware and anti virus.
I do a disk Clean up and Defrag on a regular basis, but it shows now that I have zero remaining memory.
Anyone know how I can free up more memory?
    What happens if I delete ServicePack 1 & 2?
What happens if I use the restore disc came with the computer? It will remove everything and I start with a clean slate?
Unfortunately I can't replace this computer for a few months more, what should I do?
    Thank you
    Monica

You run lack of disk space, not memory, if that's your hard drive, you're referring to :-)

If you have the service pack installation files on your PC, you can probably pick up near a GB removing them (most likely you do not have).
You can remove security updates uninstall files and pick up some space here: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13880_3-9862223-68.html
If there are programs that you use rarely or never, you can uninstall them.

If you use the recovery disk, it most probably restore you to the day; No program, no service pack, no update of safety, nada, just WinXP right out of the box. I wouldn't recommend, unless you have nothing better to do with your time than to reinstall all your stuff. And if this isn't in SP3, then you will not be able to download updates of security.

If you have a little cash on hand, you can always get a bigger hard drive and clone this player to the largest (most new hard drives come with software to do). Or if you have geek friends who save ALL their old stuff (like I do), maybe one of them would have a replacement part that they would be willing to give you. Wouldn't hurt to ask :-)

I have a CD collection that will not play on Windows Vista, then how can I instal Windows 98?  300 GB of memory in 32-bit operating system, AMD (tm) 64 x 2 Dual Core Processor 4200 + 2.19 GHz memory.
    Assistance is welcome.

Go first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has 98 drivers available for it...

If 98 drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

If you do not have a XP CD, you can download Ntbackup.msi to

However, XP's built-in backup program is a very bad choice, in my

    Acronis True Image.

I upgraded my card mother cpu ram and hard drive. I reinstalled windows xp home edition has got all of the updates. After 9 latest updates download and installtion was going well until I rebooted the computer and go to page window showing all the icons that I get a blue screen and the computer restarts its self and does not stop. How can this be corrected?

    Hi KevinRy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    Unplug all external devices.

Try to start in safe mode. If you can start in safe mode, and then do a system restore to restore the computer to an earlier point in time.

Change the recovery settings to disable automatic reboot, if you are able to boot up to the desktop computer:

    1.

Right-click my computerand then click Properties.

    2.

    Click the Advanced tab.

    3.

Under Startup and recovery, click settings to open the Startup and recovery dialog box.

    4.

Clear the automatically restart check box, and then click OK many times necessary.

    5.

Restart your computer so that the settings take effect.

Now, when you are going to close and a fatal error occurs, you will see at least and it won't cause an automatic restart.

Please reply back with the error message you get because it helps us to resolve the error.

    Kind regards

  • Loading Vista on a computer running XP Home Edition.

I have a desktop computer that I use as a dedicated DAW that is not connected to the internet which is running XP Home Edition. I have another computer, a Toshiba laptop, which is Vista. I have the Toshiba for Vista recovery disks on my laptop.

My question: can I load on my desktop recovery disks and so run my desktop under Vista? Or is the recovery of the disks somehow connected to Toshiba and do not work on a Toshiba computer not?

    Thanks for your help.

Also the advice given above, using recovery disc on a computer whose disk were not intended to may result in damage to the computer that you are using the disk. Recovery disk contains the drivers for a specific computer brand and model.

I have a Dell computer that came with Windows XP Home edition.  When I start my computer the monitoring of ERROR appears: RUNDLL error loading specified not found \3\DLBUtime.dll module

I just click 'ok' and he goes, but, as for what it stop popping up everytime I start my computer.

Can someone help me with this?

    Aprilm,

You are LuLu5119, who posted a question last August?

If this isn't the case, you should have started your own thread.  If so (and even if not), you should have responded to questions about Dell printers.

Assuming that you complain of a "Error loading \3\DLBUtime.dll" message that appears when you start your computer, you should know that the DLBUtime.dll file probably has something to do with the software from Dell which has been partially deleted, but could also be indicative of malware as well as partially withdrawn.

In both cases, the best way for start you to prevent the message at windows is to download Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Install the Autoruns and let it complete the scan of your computer.  Then click on the "Connection" tab and uncheck the following entry:

Look for an entry that has 'DLBUCATS' in the first column.  If you do not see that, look for "rundll32 \3\dlbutime.dll" in the last column ("path of the Image).

Uncheck that entry, close Autoruns and restart your computer.  You should get is no longer the message.

If for any reason, you find later that you need dlbutime.dll running, run Autoruns and check the box. If you decide that you need never again, run Autoruns, right-click on the entry and select Delete.

As General precautionary measure, in case your entry dlbutime.dll was related to malicious software, rather than the Dell printing software, download the following free scanners:

    MalwareBytes Anti-Malware: http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware Portable: http://superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html

For MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, download, install, update and run.
For Portable SAS, follow the instructions on the Web page (note that the instructions assume that you use a different computer to download; if you're not, just make a note of the name of the file).
