    Help, please!

You used the word freeze and crash.

When I hear 'crash', I think that the accident of Blue Screen of Death...

If your system is not responding, freezes or crashes, and you can not understand why you can force a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) that will create a crash dump file that you can analyze and see what is running at the time of freezing and get some ideas that don't involve speculation or try things that might work.

Although it may seem strange to think of deliberately to cause a blue screen of death (BSOD), Microsoft includes such a provision in Windows XP. The feature is built into XP specifically to diagnose the problem when a system stops responding.

This will help eliminate difficult things or guess what could happen maybe.

Sometimes it won't even be a clue to the problem in the event log.

Here's how to force your system to create a BSOD:

First of all, make sure that your system is not set to automatically restart on system failure.

Right click my computer, properties, advanced, startup and recovery settings.

    In the system failure section:

Put a check mark in the box "write an event to the system log.

Put a check mark in the box "send an administrative alert.

    Uncheck 'automatically restart '.

In the Write debugging information section select:

    Partial dump (64 KB)

    Set the directory small dumpster:

    %SystemRoot%\Minidump

Click OK twice to save the settings.

Now, enable the feature XP generate a crashdump on demand.

Before making changes to the registry (there is no cancellation or exit without saving the changes in the registry editor), back up your registry with this free and easy to use tool popular:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

For PS/2 keyboards, launch the registry (start, run, regedit.exe) editor and navigate to:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters

For USB keyboards, start (start, run, regedit.exe) registry editor and navigate to:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\kbdhid\Parameters

Click on edit, select the new DWORD value and name the new value:

    CrashOnCtrlScroll

Double-click the DWORD CrashOnCtrlScroll value, type 1 in the value data text box to enable the feature, and then click OK.

Close the registry editor and restart Windows XP so that the changes take effect.

When you want to cause a BSOD (when your system unresponsive), press on and hold down the [Ctrl] key on the right side of your keyboard and then press twice the [scroll off] button. Now you should see the BSOD and you'll have a crash dump file to be analyzed.

You won't see a lot of useful information about your problem on the BSOD screen, but you will find the answer in the crash dump files.

You may need help interpreting your crash if dump files you've never seen before, so that's okay too.

You can read about the function here:

    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff545499.aspx

There is no harm in leaving the feature enabled (mine is always on), but if you are forced to remove it, simply undo the changes in the registry.

Launch editor of the registry (start, run, regedit.exe) and navigate to:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters

    or

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\kbdhid\Parameters

Select the CrashOnCtrlScroll value, click the Edit menu and select the Delete command.

Close the registry editor and restart Windows XP.

Go ahead and test the new manual crash dump on the demand function to make sure that it works as expected, then wait until the system hang again and get a few dumps the system when it is suspended.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • error code 1003 and 1015 computer keeps freezing upwards

Hi, I'm on a computer Athlon 2000 + and Windows XP SP3. For these months, my computer kept freezing up and I can only reset it. It happens constantly and resets a half-dozen arrived on the internet, where I can get 5 minutes or 2 hours before it stops again. I've included a few events (see below) copied from the Clipboard. My Event Viewer is full of them, always the same two events. Seems to be something in the registry, but I really don't know enough to do something about it. Can you help me please?

    Event type: WARNING
    Event source: EvntAgnt
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1015
    Date: 2010-11-18
    Duration: 03:07:46
    User: n/a
    Computer: ATHLON
    Description:
TraceLevel parameter not found in the registry. Trace default level used is 32.

    Event type: WARNING
    Event source: EvntAgnt
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1003
    Date: 2010-11-18
    Duration: 03:07:46
    User: n/a
    Computer: ATHLON
    Description:
TraceFileName parameter not found in the registry. Default trace file used is.

Here is information on the events, but maybe it's not your only question... Start with that and then view the side of things:

The messages mean that components of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) are installed on your system, but have not been fully configured.

Here's the warning messages and no errors (Event Type: warning).

When SNMP tries to start with no details of the configuration, it tries to inform you the settings he needs are not in the registry where one would expect to find the information and he complains.  When SNMP tries to start with no parameters, it displays messages similar to this:

    Event type: WARNING
    Event source: EvntAgnt
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1003

    Description:
TraceFileName parameter not found in the registry. Default trace file used is.

She is usually accompanied by an another warning message that looks like this:

    Event type: WARNING
    Event source: EvntAgnt
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1015

    Description:
TraceLevel parameter not found in the registry. Trace default level used is 32.

Using SNMP services in your environment?  Most unique computer systems in a domestic environment don't use SNMP but sometimes it gets installed or activated by accident ot trying to solve another network or Internet related issue.
    .
If you don't use SNMP, just uninstall it because it is a waste of CPU cycles otherwise productive.  If you are using SNMP, you must configure it to have valid startup parameters.

You will find Simple Network Management Protocol in apotheosis of Add/Remove Programs, add/remove components Windows, the option of management and monitoring tools, and then click details...

Uncheck SNMP (and the WMI component) If you are not using them and very well your way out and then reboot your system and check the event viewer.

Some warning in Event Viewer messages are excusable when the system boots place... as other services depend on each other to run.  Continuous (same warnings) messages in the event viewer are annoying, if you hope that you would see only the White type 'i' of information messages when things are well experienced.

No messages in the event viewer should never defy reasonable explanation.

If your event (s) does not resemble those from above, maybe we should see what looks like your event (s).

Here is how to post an event to the event viewer in a message:

When you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.

If it is your desire, remove any personal information attached (such as user, computer).

To get a fresh start on any log of the event viewer, you can choose to clear the log (the log backup is available), then reproduce your problem, then view only the events at the time of your problem.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • My computer keeps freezing

    original title: computer freezes liked.

My computer is a Packard Bell Imedia 1328.  I use Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3.  My computer went haywire.  It keeps freezing on and does not turn.  If I delete an email I've read, he often removes 2 at a time.  When I open an email, it appears in a small package on top of the normal size open.  I assumed I had a virus for a fulll with Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan and used the full range of Uniblue Power Suite.  No problems have been disclosed but the problem persists. My computer is like me, too old and falling apart, or can it be saved?  I am a money, self-taught surfer, step by step in plain English would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.

I would recommend not using software uniblue, instead use following:

Make sure your system is clean first. (which I think have made you)

use ccleaner to get rid of junkfiles http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

preform disk cleanup and defragmentation in order to improve the performance of your system.

do not use unistall programs u.

Make sure your windows is uptodate and drivers work correctly and that they are as uptodate.

Use http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html to protect your pc against spyware, adware etc and keep it uptodate then use firefox as your browser

only use the block announcement more, no script and WOT for safer web browsing for firefox.

go to msconfig (type in the search box in startmenu then press enter) then prepare your computer to clean boot by disabling all startup items and any of the services of windows, and then restart your computer. See if it makes a difference? If she did then you should know which ones caused to slow down your pc.

minimize your startup programs in msconfig (type in there search box in Start menu, and then press enter)

try to check your drive for errors and also run the SFC (sfc) system through cmd (run cmd as administrator, and then type sfc/scannow)

  • Satellite A660-07 s keeps freezing when streaming videos

I bought a new laptop from Toshiba Satellite A660-07 s recently, since he started to freeze when I use video applications, such as Skype or Youtube, etc... Frost occurs randomly, and the only way out is long by pressing the switch (hunting). I returned the laptop several times for Toshiba certified technician and we almost completely reinstall software and operating system, replace the motherboard, graphics card, memory etc. and the problem is always the case. The laptop is great and does the job very well except for this random gel that is very annoying and there is no way to explain why it is happening.

I think maybe there is a flaw in the design of the system and components do not work together very well. I also read on a few other issues with laptops satellite which freezes. I use another laptop, and I am a computer scientist. Never had this problem before and can not explain why this laptop freezes in particular. Can anyone shed light on what could be the problem to the technician and users may be able to solve this problem.
As I said, we have tried all what you would do to eliminate the problem and nothing has worked so far.

Thanks in advance for your responses and suggestions.

    Hey,.

I m wondering really that your computer laptop doesn t work properly with video applications. Friend of me has the same laptop and it often use video applications like Skype, Youtube, etc. Also, he'd watch DVD and blu - ray but no problems at all.
It uses the version preinstalled Windows from Toshiba and everything is ok.

In your case I would ask again authorized service provider what they can do for you. I mean if many parts have been replaced already there must be a solution to your problem and if it of a hardware related problem, you can do anything and you need professional help.

Perhaps the ASP can get in touch with Toshiba directly or else just talk a bit with them, I m sure that the problem could be solved.

Sorry that I can't say more, but the A660 from my friend is the perfect job.

    Hello

I understand that the computer windows 7 freezes randomly.

1 did you change on your computer before the show?

2 do you have memory devices external USB connected to the computer?

    Follow the following troubleshooting methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state and then check if it helps. You can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

To set up the computer in a clean boot, follow the steps in the link: How to perform a clean boot

Note: After checking in the clean boot, follow step: 3 article to reset your computer to normal startup.

    Method 2:

Run System File Check to fix the corrupted system files and then check how it works.

See the link "How to use the file system tool Checker to troubleshoot system missing or damaged files on Windows Vista or Windows 7" to run the System File Check.

Note: It can ask the Windows DVD difficulty and allowing SFC to do more than minor repairs. Could some of the files saved on your computer are deleted when fixing corrupted files.

Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

    -

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

    -

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To do that click on start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

    `

When you get your system in good working condition, I invite you to back up your system up to an external hard drive and make it regular periodic updates.
