My computer keeps going offline when I close.

my computer keeps going offline when I close.  It's a laptop

Chances are, this is a setting in Power Options. Click Start > Control Panel > Classic view > Power Options and then look at how the closure of the lid is managed.

I hope this helps.

  • OfficeJet 4620: printer keeps going offline

OfficeJet 4620 - printer keeps going offline.  If I turn it on and turn it on, it's online for a while, but it disconnects again.  My IPad can't print on it. My Windows laptop, 10 shows as offline.  I can open his web page by entering the IP address in a browser and can ping it, but it also shows offline.  It is very annoying to have to reset the printer whenever I want to print to it wireless.  Is this to say that the wireless antenna is going wrong?  Should I buy a new printer?

I found what caused my problem when troubleshooting the installation of a new printer. I have 2 range Extenders. They had the same ssid as my router. One of the reports of tests of the new printer had a warning about it. I changed the range extenders in order to have all 3 different SSID. Now when the ipad & printer are that both connected using the ssid for the range extender in the room with the printer, there is no problem of ipad impression. My old printer is fine.

  • Computer keeps going all of a sudden "hibernation" mode

I read a related thread that was close to my problem, but it wasn't quite the same thing.

Now, when I close the lid, my computer goes into hibernation.  This is what I expect and want.  When I open it up, it asks for a password and goes back to the desktop or where I was.  Fine.

This has recently started to happen:

I'm going to work - even in the middle of typing an e-mail - and the screen will suddenly black.  I have to hold the power switch for a second or two (but not quite a long time to do a reset) to get the password screen.  I go, press the arrow, and it refers directly to what I was doing - even in the middle of a Word.

What is probably happening, and can I fix?

Some laptops will Hibernate suddenly without warning when they are overheated. Are your fans clean?

I think so.  I use my laptop on the top one of these bases, which has two fans.  I think that I'm here.

  • C7180 HP printer goes offline when it is connected with the wireless network

    Hello

I have a problem which seems to be common, but I can't find a solution simple 'step by step'.  So my apologies in advance for you who are technically much more advanced that I am and know that this has already been answered.

I have a sony vaio laptop running Windows 7.  At home, I have a printer all-in-one HP C7180 I connected wireless on my home network.  FYI, I have a netgear wireless router.

Once I have installed the printer on the network, everything works fine until I closed my computer.  On restarting, the printer is detected as offline by my laptop.  Now, my solution is to uninstall the printer and reinstall it.

If someone would be kind enough to give a detailed set of step by step instructions on how to solve this problem, it would be much appreciated.  I read on the definition of a static IP address rather than dynamic, but I would need one together instructions if this is indeed the way to go.

    Thank you.

Rich - desperate to finally solve this nuisance.

    Hi rich,

As you mentioned that the printer goes offline after a reboot, please refer to:

    Hi Robbo

    I had a similar problem.

  • External screen goes blank when I close the lid Satellite P100

    Hi all.
I hope someone has an idea as to what is happening here.

Sometimes I like to watch a dvd or use the center of the media on my HD TV. I use Windows Vista to make it.

When I had XP installed, I close the lid of the laptop and watch them to my heart's content. Now with Vista, I need to have the lid open be able to watch on the external display. If I close to you then the external screen is empty, as if I unplugged the laptop.

That makes me free! What worries me is burn-in screen, because the standby screen not turn on as I am watching video.

    Help! Someone! Anyone!

AFAIK in Vista that you can use the same options as under WXp. check please supply option and you will find an option called when I close the lid. As option, choose no action.

I think you should be able to close the lid while watching the movie on screen.

  • Network connected to PSUS4 printer goes offline when the PC is shut down...

I am close to giving up this problem, help would really be appreciated.

My printer network disconnects when my computer is shut down or sleep. I have a Samsung printer connected to a print server through a router Linksys WAG160N Linksys PSUS4 wireless. Two computers that are hard cables to the router to see and access the printer without problem. I now have a new laptop Sony Vaio (Vista OS) that accesses the router WAG160N wireless. The Vaio connects to the internet OK, but everytime I shut down the PC, the printer is offline and remains offline to the Vaio when I start again.

If I remove the printer of the Vaio and then 'add printer' again, by selecting the option "Add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer" shows the printer as \\LK90a6dd\p1 network is available. But if I try to connect to it, I have "X Windows cannot connect to the printer". If, instead of this, I choose 'Add a local printer' and select the existing port "\\LK90a6dd\p1 (renderer client-side) ' and the printer driver series Samsung ML1210, the printer is installed, works very well and remains online - until I have stop the Vaio, it is. Then delete the printer, install the printer etc to access the printer again.

    Pleeeaaassseee help...

Kevin, I owe you a drink. I have added the printer as a local printer (as opposed to network), entering the IP, etc print driver, restarted the computer, and... the printer remained online. Unlike many critics of Vista, I found that it is a reasonable operating system. But maybe it's the glitches like these that give it a bad reputation. Thanks a lot for your help. Really enjoyed.
