My computer stopped working randomly and now I'm trying to fix it myself

Best Buy said they think it is a virus. My computer is supposed to be having a software failure, but I don't know if that's really the problem. How can I tell if the problem is hardware or software? my computer respond for example when I push the power on it lights up and when I hit eject the disc tray fate etc. Dell said they can fix and give me a guarantee for an arm and a leg... but I'm not ready to cut my body parts to appease Michael Dell. (im not happy right now)

How can I know for sure what is happening? I'm currently reinstalling windows to see if this changes the problem... it will work?

Thank you people. -.

Hey Bedingfield_Rocka

you reinstall windows, which should solve software problems as the hard drive is wiped clean during the resettlement process

If you continue to have problems after relocation, run the dell diagnostics by pressing F12 at startup
