  • The computer turns off accidentally during an update, the pc will not boot

    Hello

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

    Acer Aspire M5640
    Intel Core 2 Duo E 7200
    RAM 3 GB DDRII
    500 GB Sata HARD drive

I went out to do some quick shopping and turned on my pc. When I got home, proceeded to check my email (gmail) that I had left open. Went to click on an email from a reliable source, so I don't think it's associated virus. Could not click on everything that was running, pc is frozen. I tried cntr + alt + delete to continue with a reboot, does not open. So I held the power button for just shut it down and restart. When the computer has been restarted, it goes through it's normal procedure, until it gets to a green screen of Windows Update. When the pc is turned off, there is absolutely no indication that an update is underway. Now the computer begins to restart, gets to the screen update hangs and stops at reboot, samething over and over. Talked to Staples, not covered by the warranty, problem of Microsoft. Called tech support with Acer, same thing and they wanted to charge me $129 / hr to fix over the phone. That's why I'll try and see if anyone here can help me before I go the road of Acer.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You can not download a genuine copy of Vista on the Net.

If you can borrow a friends correct (no Acer, Dell), discs of recovery etc. Microsoft Vista DVD, you are 1/2 there.

All versions of Vista are found on a good microsoft Vista DVD.

This is the product key that installs the files for which version of a Vista DVD.

There are only 2 disk of Vista: a record of 32-bit and 64-bit disc.

And there is only the Service Pack 2 for Vista.

If this boot disk, that I informed you do not find your operating system, and if you can not do a repair of a Vista DVD installation, it's time to do a complete reinstall factory.

    See you soon.

  • On the start with progress bar page, after that it becomes a little more than half, the computer turns off.

MY MacBook Pro is frozen and I had to turn off get out of the frozen page and when I pressed the button to turn it on it makes the departure noise and then the progress bar lights. When it becomes a little to Midway, the screen goes black and the computer turns off.

The progress bar that starts from the left end appears when your startup disk is too damaged to mount. The illustrious progress is the functioning of the equivalent of disk utility (ERD). He is never more than half before taking a decision.

If your drive CAN be mounted, start-up continues normally.

If your drive cannot be mounted, your Mac stops, because there is nothing productive that it can do.

If your Mac is trying to start and crashes, which can produce always different results, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I recommend that you start in recovery and run utility disk (ERD) until it comes clean or is hopelessly.

My computer turns off during an update to windows xp and now windows xp will not load.  It gives me the option of last known good configuration and safe mode startup and normal startup, but it just goes back to the loading screen then flashes a blue error screen then back to display boot options.  I don't have a recovery disc as the laptop does not have a CD-ROM drive or a floppy drive.  I have the product key, but I don't know where or how repair the operating system.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop as there must be a way to restore the computer. There may be a hidden restore partition.

After upgrade Office 2007 to Office 2010 on my Vista, then my computer turns off after being idle for a while. Hi B Odd Andersen,

I want to clarify if your computer seems to be sleeping or it completely closed after being idle for a while.

Method 1: If the computer is in power saving mode, check if you can wake the computer from this State by moving the mouse or pressing any key on the keyboard.

Method 2: Change the power to another and check to see if the problem persists
Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme)

Method 3: check the logs in event viewer for more information on auto-off down

    Open event viewer

What are the information in event logs? (Event Viewer)

Note: For your safety and security, it is not recommended to disable Windows Update.
Activate the update or disable automatic

No there is no way to turn off or disable the Configuration of Protection in IE11, Win 7?  Or enable Java with IE on?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query to the Microsoft forum. I will definitely help you with this.

Internet Explorer enhanced security configuration allows you to adjust the security levels for the existing security zones in Internet Explorer. It helps to reduce exposure to possible future security threats.

Note: Turning off this feature can make a computer or a network more vulnerable to attack by malicious users or by malicious software such as viruses. We do not recommend this task but are providing this information so that you can implement this workaround at your own discretion solution. This feature is at your own risk.

  • How and when the computer turns off automatically?

Listen to internet radio, Sys Pref > saving energy on the default setting, wake up and radio program cut.

This is great... .buth how and when the computer turns off?  When I reopen it wifi comes back, I'm correct when she stops she also turns off wifi?

    Hello allan299,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

According to your post, I see that you have any questions on how and when your computer shuts down, and how the WiFi on your Mac is affected. I know it's nice to be able to properly manage what happens when your computer stops and starts in mode 'sleep'. I'm happy to help you find the best resolution.

You're right, when your computer stops completely it will turn the Wi - Fi. If you enable the wake for network access, Wi - Fi remains lit, and you can access shared resources on your computer, such as printers or iTunes shared playlists even when your computer is in "sleep". Definition of a calendar closing and start on your Mac can also be useful.

Check out the following resources that will help the set options that control the energy use of your computer, sleep, and wake-up times for your Mac and the calendar from your Mac to turn on or turn off or go to sleep:

OS X Yosemite: energy saver Preferences

OS X Yosemite: set sleep and wake up on time for your Mac

OS X Yosemite: A schedule for your Mac to turn on or turn off or go to sleep

    Best regards.

  • Whenever I get up for a minute, my computer turns off is there a way to disable the functions "sleep" and "hibernate"?

My computer used to stay... since I work with clients, my computer work is often interrupted. He is turns off if I stop for a moment and it's annoying to keep back on each time. The function 'Start'-j' looked where you shut down your computer and noticed "Sleep" - who says turn to turn off and saves the info... and "Hibernate" - which goes out and saves the info... but I don't remember always those who are there. Is there a way to disable this option, so my computer stays on?

It is not related to firefox, but I think I can help you:

    1. Click on the stack (if you are connected, there a picture of a plug) in your taskbar (near the clock) windows
    2. Click more power Options
    3. Otherwise, go to control panel-> power options
    4. Click change when the computer sleeps
    5. Adjust the settings so that your computer does not sleep for a long period of time.

  • WiFi falls frequently, must turn off wifi to the computer, then turn on

    Greetings,

I have four Macs, all the different models and with different OS, with El Capitan and this happens on all. I have an Airport Extreme router, aged about 1 1/2 years. Throughout the day, wifi doesn't work. To get to resume, I have to go into menu wifi on the computer, turn off wifi, then turn it back on. This example gets going again.

I tried using automatic channels as well as various specific channels on our Airport Extreme. I also have 5 GHz and 2.4 normally. I, of course, restarted a gazillion times (this has happened for about a year). I still have to find a solution.

    Suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Amy

It is possible that you have a faulty AirPort base station, the other thing to ask is: do you live in a place with a lot of other Wi-Fis operating? As an apartment or condo complex... or a dorm student perhaps? Connectivity spotty Wi - Fi is usually associated with some sort of interference of a Wi-Fi connection. Other Wi-Fis in the close vicinity would be a major culprit.
