my computer won't read or recognize CD or DVD. What can be the problem?
When I try to install a software, play a CD or DVD, nothing happens. I hear a few clicks and a humming noise, but then nothing. I have the default to auto-play. The instructions for the software says to follow the instructions on the screen, but they never show. Is this a driver problem, and if so, how can I solve this?
Hello
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.
Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.
Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.
===============================
Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.
Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.
Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.
Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
the parameters.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

You can probably find more info here and maybe even the exact registry for your CD/DVD settings
drive from someone with the same model.

My computer won't read or recognize my CD/DVD drive.
I tried all the solutions on the support page of Microsoft here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us#top when I went to the registry folder there were no upper or lower filters filters. I tried to manually assign a letter to the reader, but it gets immediately deleted after being assigned. I tried the windows troubleshooting tool. Yesterday, I decided to upgrade to Windows 10. Everything seemed to go well until I tried to launch Adobe Reader DC. He would only go as a background and not as an application process. I tried and tried to make it work, but in vain. I chatted to the Microsoft Support and they suggested reset Windows 10. This matter is only 10 times worse and I ended up coming back to Windows 7.
Is the issue that I had with Adobe Reader ms Windows 10 in a known and nothing has been done to fix it with an update to Adobe Reader DC? I will not dare to try to pass 10 Wndows again until I know it's quite safe to do.
I hope you guys can help

I had to uninstall Acrobat Reader DC and back to Acrobat Reader 11 for software we use for work. The problem is that after I did my Internet Explorer gives a message that the plugin player DC is missing? I reinstalled DC and uninstalled again without success. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
You can try to use this tool first remove all traces of your computer:

Then you can download the full Setup offline reader for the version you want from

After downloading, restart your computer and run the Setup program before anything else.

The fact that they called you is violating your privacy. For service companies, if you call them and ask for help, they will call you back or if request you the support from them. But if someone calls you out of blue and you say they could help you, it is likely to be a SCAM, I suggest to take a look at:
