My desktop icon disappeared? I need to press start see firefox?

I have nothing to add. When I myself am logged in my firefox icon had disappeared.

You can try to drag the Firefox icon on the desktop if it's the icon of the default browser.

Note that you need to browse programs and go into the folder Mozilla and then Firefox and not to use the default browser icon.

You can also create a new shortcut using Windows Explorer and go to the folder Firefox program.

    Hi markyb208,

I'm not sure what you have a problem with Firefox.

Are you talking about icons on your Windows 7 desktop. In a standard installation, Firefox will try to add an icon on the desktop, but it shouldn't do something to remove the icons.

When I started my pc this morning I founf that all my desktop icons disappeared

Hmm, that's strange. I wonder if you might have accidentally switched to Tablet mode, where the desktop icons would not display. See switch between Mode desktop and Tablet (Windows 10).

If this does not work, try to install the Windows updates and reboot your computer. I would also like to run a virus scan. Good luck!

  • All my desktop icons disappeared from my Windows 7 Desktop

I created several icons on Desktop 4 computers after installing clean computers with Windows 7 Profession (whether with the 32-bit or 64-bit). After a few days, some of the desktop icons disappear. However, when I click on the toolbar of office at the bottom of the Windows desktop, icons that disappeared from the Office were always present and available in the list of desktop toolbar. I've seen many users have the same problem on the Internet but no solution to the problem. Any suggestion for the fix.

    Hi guys,.

I found the cause of her mysteriously disappear from the Windows 7 desktop icons and the reason why the Show Desktop icons now and then get UN-ticked.

INFRARECORDER is! Try for yourself, when you start Infrarecorder and close the bottle, go take a look at 'See the desktop icons', it is not checked (but the icons are still there). Check it on again and start Infrarecorder... He is not checked again.

This Windows 7 "bug" is irritating for me since the beginning and now I found the cause: it is Infrarecorder that causes this problem.

Test it and please let me know and spread the word :-)

Oh! If you think it's a Virus/Malware then take your HARD drive internal to another machine and have it is scanned with a good Antivirus updated. If nothing else works the hard way is to format your machine.

    Hi reda

Thank you for taking the time to help me with my problem.

I tried method 1 and it did not help, I tried method 2 and I received an error message indicating that the sfc scan has failed and method 3, returned a negative virus detection.

Out of pure frustration, I pulled the cables at the back of the computer and left the cable VGA/SVGA male PC to another port on the computer (at the bottom of the computer toward the upper left side), and it seems to have done the trick - why I do not know?

Since the cable, the computer has been running at 100%, and the problem seems to have corrected itself.

Thanks a lot again for your answer.

    Kind regards

    Brian

  • Almost all my desktop icons disappeared, as well as their relevant applications. I was no longer in Classic view.

I use Windows 7 Pro x 64.  Last night I ran the latest offerings from update, which has been a long process involving several dozen Articles.  When I turned on the computer this morning, almost all of my desktop icons disappeared, as well as their relevant applications.  I was no longer in the classical view; resembled a view of windows 8.  I tried the system restore, that wouldn't work and returned with an error message saying that HS has not been installed on the machine.  Cannot start in safe mode.  Do I have any options?  I have to re - install the OS?  Linux would prevent this kind of problem?  Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.  * E-mail address is removed from the privacy *

    Original title: update virus?

This isn't a virus, your PC has a hardware error, perhaps caused by a driver install

  • Desktop icons disappear over and over again

Whenever I turn on my laptop (I have Vista 64) my desktop icons are invisible. I have to right-click, select this option to make the invisible icons (even if they are already), and then repeat the process to choose to make visible again. After that, they reappear and are normal, but sometimes they disappear periodically while the laptop is as well. How can I fix it?

Was there a time when you did NOT have this problem?
    If Yes, how long?
If it was not more than 10-15 days ago, you can do a system restore. Choose a date where you did not have this problem as you restore point. Here is the tutorial, where you need:
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html

If it is not possible to restore the system, please do a check of the file system:
Here are the step by step to do the checking of the filesystem, sfc/scannow:

Start button > Search box type cmd > look up, do a RIGHT click on cmd.exe > click on Run As Administrator > in this black and white cmd window, tap the flashing pormpt sfc/scannow > press the ENTER key.
Note: there is a space between 'sfc' and ' / '.
To sit and wait. It will take time.
When finished, exit the cmd window.
    Reboot (restart your computer)

See if your desktop icons are now include.

  • All my desktop icons disappeared

    Hello everyone.

I played just age of Empires 2 The Forgotten when it crashed. It worked well for 4-5 days, so I didn't think much, so I tried to play again, when it crashed once more. After that, I went to my program files in the C drive and deleted all the files saved there under the track where the game auto-tout saved. In any case, after that I had to restart the game, so I went to the office and only my 'computer' icon was there, everything else was not the case.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate, and tried methods such as 'see the desktop icons', 'folders', run a quick scan (which has highlighted some performance issues, but it was especially the deletion of junk files / cleaning of certain registry keys, I did).  Also, I restarted my PC right after seeing only 1 icon, which brought me back some of the desktop icons, I had. Usually restart before that always gave me all of my icon back. However, that time that is not now and I lost all my files saved in both the Office & the my part of documents.  This includes files that I had downloaded.  Please note that I went to CCleaner to check if the programs were still there (the icon removed those) and they seem to have gone quite as well.

I want to know what I can do to recover these files, because some of them are needed very soon.  Please help me. Thank you.

Note: Do not create a new data on your computer, because it can replace your hard drive and may interfere with the recovery of files.

The following hotfixes must be attempted in the order listed.

Check on the status of the file

First of all, go to C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop , replacing C and username with the appropriate information.  If you see your files, they are not removed.

    Restart Explorer.exe

    1. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE at the same time.
    2. Press start the Task Manager.
    3. Go to the processes tab and look to explorer.exe.
    4. Right-click and select end process.
    5. Then go to file (above) and select new task (run...) and type explorer.exe in the box.
    6. Press ENTER.

    Rebuild the icon Cache

    1. Show all hidden files (Folder Options).
    2. Go to \AppData\Local C:\Users\ (username)
    3. Search IconCache.db and delete (right click and press delete).
    4. Restart your computer.

    Checking system files

    1. Go to the start menu.
    2. Type cmd and click with the right button on the result.
    3. Select run as administrator.
    4. Type sfc/scannow and press ENTER.

    File recovery programs

    1. Plug in a USB key with the free space on your computer.
    2. Download a file recovery program (for example Recuva).

A bunch of files for Windows recovery programs can be found here: http://alternativeto.net/software/recuva/?platform=windows

    3. install the program file recovery.

    4. follow the on-screen instructions to get your files back.

5 SAVE YOUR RECOVERED ON a USB port FILES.

I hope this has helped you.  If this does not work, go to one of your backups.  If you don't have a backup, restore your computer to an earlier date before, this has happened.  This article has useful info: http://www.wikihow.com/Use-System-Restore-on-Windows-7
