My desktop icon to change their appearance?

Greetings Windows wizards and warriors.

A few months my desktop icons have changed their look by themselves? Little normal images are changed to little land and pages with the right corner leaning forward. When it started only affected the shortcuts of the site but since suddenly from affecting the icons of the programs as well. I tried to go into the properties for individual icons and changing images back to normal, but their real images are not available on the selection screen, their not located anywhere at all. Funny enough without notice the icon pictures return just as they disappeared. If any of you very inteligent people have an answer to why and how this happens, and especially how to prevent this behavior, please contact me, ' help me Obiwan, you're my only hope! "

Best regards, GeistDriver1313

  • The desktop icons to change the order after reboot

Original title: the icons on the desktop in the Land of window 8

Hello my friends. Before entering my question, I would like to thank all those who more graciously helped me with the many difficulties that I had with my old Dell XPS 8100 Studio, running Windows 7, Service Pack One, who went from the realms of the puffy clouds, halos, and * cherubs Flyin 'around pluckin' at the age of harps. Unfortunately he succumbed to Cyber Devils and digital demons that has infected. Even after the Pixel priest to perform an Electrosisim filled with the anointing of the Holy soldering, the pose of the figures on Ctrl-Alt-Delete, an attempt to restore to an earlier time, the computer was found dead of CPU. So at 2:35 on July-11-2013 with a tear to the eye and a hand shaking, I pulled the plug on my old Dell XPS Studio 8100 paper weight for 3 years and he passed quietly in the mist of the net and internet wholesale in the cloud. :)) So now I have a new ASUS computer and it runs Windows 8, and a few things are not as they were in Windows 7 like the arrangement of the icons on the desktop. Now, in Windows 7, I could resize, change the image and place the icons where I wanted to, and as long as I box unchecked her "snap to grid" in the settings under view they would remain locked in their assigned positions. Good, assuming that the parameters for the icons were the same as they were in Windows 7 in Windows 8, I went to the subject to carefully arrange my icons. When I had finished my task, I went in the view and the box unchecked that pesky 'snap to grid' and everything seemed fine until I had the need to restart the computer. After restart my office came on the screen and I couldn't believe my eyes, all of the icons that I had planned so carefully were in their original position they were before them, I changed? I went quickly into the display and don't you know that the "Snap to grid" box was checked. I tested this confusing situation several times, and any time the results were the same? Now, once more I seeks the advice and wisdom of you Wizards of Windows and Microsoft Magi digital defenders of the net in the hope that you might have a solution to my situation. b: Then click on Change Desktop Icons option present in the upper left.

    Hello

I had a quick glance around my system because I think it has been compromised. Today, I noticed something I never saw before a "Remote Desktop connection" icon in my documents - time created yesterday - at about 20:00 - 08/04 when I was not on the machine and certainly don't remember updated anything.
I went into control panel / system/distance and unchecked boxes related to assistance remotely etc. Is there anyway that anyone can access my machine remotely? or how would I know if they have?  The sudden appearance of this icon and the calendar has caused me some alarm. I deleted it + at the present time, it is in the trash. I did it because it gives an error when I try to save changes to settings that do not allow access.
Someone could give me some advice please on what this could be and how I can assure any remote access to my pc. (Windows XP / wired ethernet via Bt Home Hub connection)  Thank you.

I do nothing, can solve the problem, I tried to restart at an earlier date to work on the pc, but I had fixed some time back, there is no date of previous work before this? Can someone plese help, I'm at my wits end... Thanks in advance

Hey all, I met several times before - bit of a design on a flaw in Microsoft if you ask me.  If that's what I think is, you set all files with the extension ".lnk" to start with vlc.exe (or another program).  In short, here's what you need to do, but be careful in the registry.

Do exactly what the instructions, exactly how they say to do it, and if something seems wrong, get the help of a technician or someone more experienced.  Make a mistake in the registry can make your system unbootable more or less well.

    1. Click on theStart Menu, typeregedit in start search and pressENTER .
    2. Navigate to the following registry branch:

    NtVersion ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\ [ext]

Replace the [ext] with the real extension of the file you want to restore the file type association to return to the original Windows 7 by default (probably .lnk). If you unsure, simply browse through all the Sub-touche under FileExts .

    1. Delete the subkey namedUserChoice .
    2. Exit the registry editor.

As much as I would like to take credit for the difficulty, I can't - search this Web site for the theme "icons of Application and extension changed. LNK ".  'MyronH' is the host that the application of origin.

To the extent where the fix proposed by spankydoggy...  Although the intention seems authentic, notice are a bit dodgy.  Considering of Manhood and the stealth technology in about 800 000 permutationsknown to modern virii / Trojans / malware, the only safe course of action is to back up your data and rebuild your system.  And that says nothing about the relevance of the instructions spankydoggy offers in relation toyour system (operating system, applications, recorded files, etc..).  Follow the advice of spankydoggy if you want, but 10 years experience suspect at best it's going to do nothing and lead you into a dead end and the worst cases - it could make your system unbootable or losing data.

    Best regards and good luck,

  • All the desktop icons have changed, please help!

I wanted to open a game, so I double-clicked on the icon shortcut, as usual.

I was told that I had to search for a file on the internet or a group of programs to open this game.
I have all the games correctly installed files.
Then I chose to open the game with this icon of games, now it changed all my icons on my laptop to a thumbnail of this image of the games shortcut. I have no knowledge of how to restore ALL their original images.
I can not open a large part of my programs because they automatically want to open with this icon.
I can't do system restore unfortunately like I did not restore points.
    Can someone help me?

    Hello

-What do you mean by "all the desktop icons must change size?
-Did you do changes on the computer before this problem?

Method 1: I suggest to maintain the computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem persists.
A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 7 in binding boot is a way of putting your computer to normal startup mode.

Method 2: I suggest you to make sure that all device drivers (such as display cards, network cards, keyboard, mouse, etc) are more recent and compatible with Windows 7.
Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

Method 3: I suggest using Microsoft Safety scanner and check if it helps.

    Microsoft safety scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection. For a real-time protection that helps you keep your home or small office PC against viruses, spyware and other malicious software, download Microsoft Security Essentials.

    Hope this information helps.
  • missing desktop icons and reappear at the start?

I have a desktop PC with i7 and 16 GB. It runs on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Whenever I start my PC, all the desktop icons appear normally and quickly at the beginning. Then at the end of the initialization, all the desktop icons would change the folder symbols of gray before returning to their normal color symbols, one or both. The PC works fine otherwise. So, what's up with that?

When google, many seem to have a similar problem, but none offer a REAL solution. Care to help? Please provide only the answers that have been soundproofed/accepted as a solution to the problem.

    Hello

It is regrettable that the steps in my previous post did not help to solve the problem. This problem could occur due to the corruption of the file system or damaged user account.

Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    Method 1: run (SFC Scan) System File Checker because this could be a problem with corruption in the Windows system files. System File Checker is a Microsoft Windows utility that allows users to search for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. Consult the following link;

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

    Method 2:

You can create a new user account on your computer, and then check.

    Create a new user account
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

If you are not faced with the same question in a new user account, you can check the link below and use the steps provided to screw a corrupted user profile
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

Please an update on the status of the issue to help you further.

Is it possible to do it now? Is this something that could happen in the future?

My understanding is that the sites themselves control what tiles look like settings on the site, so an ordinary user cannot change their appearance.
