My DVD - R drive is suddenly only recognized as a cd player, now what?

I have problems with my sound does not work and did a restore of the system that it has cleared up. I don't know if this caused the problem with the dvd - r drive but later that day there, I noticed that I couldn't burn DVDs more. When I did some troubleshooting I realized that the computer recognizes the drive as a cd player now. What can I do? I don't have a disk for it. When I go into the material it says it's working properly and they call it a dvd - r drive. PBDS DVD +-RW DS-8W1P

Ive been using Windows 7 for about 6 months now with on any trouble until recently my DVD drive has suddenly stopped working. Windows detects the drive but when I double click on it in my computer it says please insert disc. I find the drive in Device Manager and windows recognises that there is an error that says:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

I tried to uninstall the drivers in Manager device and rebooted the computer to let auto windows find the driver and reinstall it but to start, I get a message that says:

I know that the drive is fine because it works fine in Ubuntu Linux system he worked great in windows 7, so stopped. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Go to the Web site of the factory, download the driver appropriate for your device. Uninstall the driver that is currently installed and uninstall the device in Device Manager. Reboot... After you restart, you have 1 of 2 options depending on how the software is packed from the manufacturing. (A) put an end to the automatic Windows installation feature and use the downloaded software to take care of it for you... If that's how it is set up to operate or (b) wait for windows to auto-trouvez and try to install the device, and when he asked the pilots to open and extract files downloaded to any location you choose and point the installer of windows in this direction.

  • Satellite P20 DVD ROM drive may not be recognized

    Hello

I just replaced my DVD ROM drive, but I had a problem.
It is a new DVD rom drive I ordered at TOSHIBA also.
It could not be detected by Windows:
-Tried to check on Device Manager, not detected
-Tried to reload the driver, the same problem
    Note:
Whenever I tried to re - insert the disc, the blue light in the control panel of my P20 beds (I understand, which means that the P20 detects the drive) but I don't understand, is that why Windows XP does not detect it or it does not alarm or error messages.

    Hello

It is not uncommon, in fact more expected than a question as this affects both drives.

19 code means there is a driver conflict such as two devices attempt to use the same resources.

Having too many CD/DVD programs can cause strange problems, especially if they're loading of parts of them.
Selves at the start because they will be competing for resources. This does not mean that this problem was caused by
These however is a possibility depending on which and how many you have installed.

Have a double microphone 16 X 8 DVD/CD RW advantage which is not recognized by XP Professional.  Also have a CD unit and when windows installs the drivers - it gives them both the same driver.  DVD RW is only recognized as a CD! Have used Microsoft fixit and he says everything is fine. -It uses the same driver for CD and DVD RW units.

Have also an ATi Radeon 9550 AGP 250 M for the video and VGA and Windows XP does not - have question marks for them in Device Manager.  Microsoft fixit - did fix this problem.

Have deleted the drivers and tried to control the computer for downloads by Microsoft and it can't find them - if I do a check for hardware changes, he finds only those who do not work properly and that don't work at all, as indicated above.

  • pilot missing dvd/CD; drive even not recognized by the computer

somehow, when I tried to burn a dvd, (windows DVD Creator) the computer seems to have removed its own driver for the dvd drive (I put the disc in, it recognized that it was not a disk supported, put a new one in the drive, and create dvd windows then told me that I need to install a dvd/cd writer to complete my project). the relase button disk would not work after turning in the second disc and always used to work even after that. Hello

For the CD/DVD problem start up that convenience store and work down to jump
nothing. He is even said to continue if the CD/DVD drive is not displayed in Device Manager.
You are much less likely to solve the problem by a hit or miss approach to try this
or such. And of course, there may be a material cause.

The HP forums, ask questions and I hope that those who have had
the same issues on similar equipment that have solved the issue respond. Only way
to succeed is to give your best effort.

HP does not have a lot of online documentation and help diagnostics on their site and those
could help to resolve some of the questions withour paying for support.

Back up your data on the device and it goes back out of the box state
can be one of the best moves to solve the present problems.

    I hope this helps.

  • Help! My T61 suddenly no longer recognizes my DVD - RAM drive!

Today, I tried to recover some pictures from a DVD and then a CD in my DVD RAM T61s (Mat * beep * a UJ - 852 ATA)... and the drive was not recognized by the system.  It was not displayed in the 'my computer' list.  The power drive when I insert a disc, but nothing else happened.

    The device properties box says:

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

"Click 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

But when I check, the system responses returned the correct driver is already installed... and there's nothing else out there that was a 'solution '.

What can solve this problem suddenly?

    Thank you very much

Thank you!  A variation of this last seems to have worked and restored the DVD-RAM, to the good working condition:

    (1) disable the drive

    (2) uninstall the reader

    (3) remove the drive

    (4) stop

    (5) reboot

    (6) insert drive... system recognized the drive, loaded the drivers and the operation was normal.

Thanks for the tip. (I had turned off and deleted/inserted before, without success.)  "But until reading your comment, I do not have a start/stop between the two).

Have you checked in the Device Manager if the CD/DVD player display correctly?
    Please check this!

As a follow-up, I would recommend removing the reader of CD/DVD of the crèche of the device a restarting the laptop.
The Windows operating system should recognize the new device (ODD) and should load the drivers again.

Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
