my dvd rom is not detected

What can I do series Gateway PC laptop nv

Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
the parameters.

I have a Toshiba Satellite l300d with an OS Vista Home premium. It worked fine for 3 years, but last week, I can't find the cd drive in 'my computer' and am unable to read DVDs, games, etc.

The Toshiba MK1652GSK ATA device appears in Device Manager and I've updated the driver as well as to try to uninstall and reinstall. However, in disk management that only the c drive and e drive (data) are listed with another disk without a name I can't access, when I right click above just said 'help '.
I tried to delete upper and lower filters with regedit and similar solutions with registry entries. Mr Fixit shows that the problem is that the driver is not detected, but does not bring a solution.
I have idea about what to do next really, any help?

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

    2. what exactly happens when you try to read the disc?

    3. you get any error message?

I suggest you to assign the drive letter for the drive using CommandLink and check if it helps:

  • CD/DVD-ROM problems, drive not detected AND the category of CD/DVD-ROM does not appear in Device Manager

I'm having serious problems here. My CD/DVD-ROM drive is not detected and will not answer. I can ONLY open the drawer at the beginning of my computer laptop startup. The drive does not appear in my computer and the category of CD/DVD-ROM does not appear in Device Manager. Therefore, the "uninstall/reinstall" is impossible if the computer behaves as it has never been this drive now or never. Previously, I was able to use it as there was no problem, but someday, it's simply not there.

  • Satellite A200 - 23P - mechanic of DVD - rom does not

I'm sorry for my English in advance this topic! -Thank you

I have a very big problem with my engraver of DVD (RM).
    I bought SAT A200 - 23P three weeks ago.
The Win VISTA operating system has been installed. DVD - rom worked well.

If I have installed Win XP to the second partition on my HARD drive (to install the disk with driver for sata drive in nlite) and installed all the drivers and utilities for Toshiba laptop, I found that my DVD-rom is not working while I press eject button.

Mechanic of DVD is not responding to eject in XP and not even in the BIOS!
It is interesting, mechanic DVD is the detection in BIOS, detects in XP, XP operating system votes - mechanic to the DVD works properly - its fable.

However, if I have installed XP on the second partition, Win Vista does not load :(
I don't have a second chance for second selection (Vista and XP).
I now have XP only, even if Vista is on the first partition - I didn't delete it.

Do you think that the DVD-rom is HW or SW problem?
I think that, given that the DVD-rom does not in the BIOS - HW error.

But is very strange, if I install XP from mechanic to the DVD and then close is, DVD - rom does not...:)

If I manually open and insert the CD, the DVD does not (diode led no blink, just if I turn off the computer, led blinked once).

    PLS help me someone-

    Thank you!

    Hi Michal

Your question is very strange, I mean the number of CD/DVD drive

The fact is that the readers of CD/DVD eject function functions should any operating system has been installed on your laptop. It has nothing to do with your software on the HARD drive.

So I wonder why the eject button works with Vista and not XP preinstalled OS?  :|

My only plausible explanation is that sometimes there is a bad connection between the laptop and the drive. However the problem could be related to the hardware problem too

As you see it s not easy to say what's wrong exactly, we can only speculate.

Now some details about your installation of OS double.

You cannot choose between Windows XP and Vista because Vista boot manager was obliterated during the installation of Win XP.
This happened to me also. I installed Win XP on my Satellite and could not start Vista.

The solution was simple; I used another original DVD of Vista (from my friend) and booted from this DVD. Vista has renewed the Boot Manager, and then I was able to boot Vista.

Then I downloaded the tool called Easy BCD.
This tool can change the Vista Boot Manager settings. I've edited and inserted a new Windwos XP OS entry.

    That s it!

  • My HP DVD/ROM does not appear in the device under my computer Manager or when I scan for readers.

My HP DVD/ROM does not appear in the device under my computer Manager or when I scan for readers, most of the time.  Every now and then it will be visible and I can use it but 90% of the time it does not exist.  I tried the regedit fix, nothing.  I tried the program Microsoft Fix It, it tells me it cannot locate a DVD/ROM.  I removed, cleaned and reinserted my DVD/ROM drive, but no difference.  I tried everything, except the upgrade to Windows 7... who will be my last resort.

    Hello gargoyle28m,

If your hardware is not detected to upgrade to Windows 7 is not a resolution. This issue may be caused if the DVD drive is faulty or connections loose on the mother board. You may need to check the connections. I suggest you check if the DVD drive works on another computer. You can contact the manufacturer of your computer to help you with this problem.

  • Pavilion p6744y: HP Pavilion p6744y DVD-ROM does not not after installing Windows 10.

I have recently installed Windows 10 on my Pavilion p6744y. Since installation, the DVD-ROM does not work correctly. This worked perfectly before the upgrade of the OS and is the original drive installed by the manufacturer.

Spin discs and the light flashes, but there is no response from the computer. DVD - ROM does not appear in Device Manager and has been confirmed as "ENABLED" in the BIOS Setup screen. All wires and cables are attached and tight.

The HP Support Assistant is installed and confirms that all the drivers and software are up-to-date, like Windows Update.

Microsoft contacted for support and remote access to the PC. They have attempted to install an updated driver, but have been unable to find newer and easier to apply than the drivers already installed drivers. They were unable to solve the problem and advised me to contact HP. Contact HP is not useful because the PC is out of warranty and they expect me to pay for the support.

Help, please. I suspect all that I need is a updated driver to make the DVD - ROM communicable with 10 visible Windows.

I know a little about this stuff, but I'm certainly not a computer "guru". Please keep the simple resposnes with easy to understand by a layman terms.

    Thanks for your help!

    I FOUND A SOLUTION!

Research in the blogs of support paid off in a big way. A minor registry editing is all it took, and my player works like new!

Here is the solution. My system is Windows 64-bit 10.

Resolution 5: Create a registry subkey
Note to use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help, check that you are an administrator, go tohttp://support.microsoft.com/gp/admin
Important follow the steps described in this section carefully. Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you edit, back up the registry to restore in case of problems.
To create the registry subkey, follow these steps:
Press the Windows logo key + R to open the run. (or right click on the windows down icon to the left)
Type regedit in the run box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow
In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
Right-click atapi, point to new, and then click key.
    Type Controller0 and press ENTER.
Right-click Controller0, point to new, and then click DWORD(32-bit) value.
    Type EnumDevice1 and press ENTER.
    Right-click EnumDevice1, click on change...
Type 1 in the value data box, and then click OK.
    Exit Registry Editor.

Go to the store and buy an optical drive. They are very expensive. No, you cannot use the optical drive of your laptop. You can possibly create a bootable USB key with a distribution of Linux on it and copy the correct boot hard disk files. I say "may" because not all older computers can boot from a USB device. Look in your BIOS to see if your computer has this capability. If he can:

If you have not backed up your data, then you have trouble. While you're at the store also buy an external hard drive. You can start the computer with a Linux Live CD (in your new optical drive), and copy the files on the external hard drive. Then you can continue to try to repair your computer.

  • A DVD player is not detected (for Windows)

Windows repeat me that "a DVD player is not detected," even if there is a DVD player installed in my computer by the manufacturer.  I pushed it completely with my thumb to make sure that it is not disconnected from its moorings of connection.  The little green light on the door of the reader flashes once every second about. It did not used to do this when the DVD used to work perfectly. The driver up to date.  But my DVD still does NOT appear on my device manager page. What could be the problem? How should I do?

    Done anything here helps,

It is always possible that there is a hardware problem but disappears under Vista disks were a 'common' problem

Have you made any changes or installed new programs?

Have you tried a system restore?

  • CD-ROM/DVD-ROM does not error, is not read/write

CD-ROM/DVD-ROM does not work. When I insert a disc, that nothing is happening, not auto start and without errors. When I double click on the drive via my computer dvd it says no disc inserted, tried the fix, found whatever it is, said peripheral works properly, the drivers were updated.

Try to replace the optical drive itself.  They do not last forever.

  • CD/DVD-Rom will not read the CD

I just upgraded from vista to windows 7 Home premium database on my laptop and now my CD-DVD-Rom will not read any CD I put in the drive. He reads that DVD very well so I'm up for a loop now. My drivers are all far better that I can find. I know it's a CD-DVD-Rom, because before I updated I had no problem reading CDs and DVDs. This is a problem because all my anti-virus and other programs are all on CD. I don't know how to fix this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    -Thank you

Thanks for the post with suggestions. I have tried it all and still had the same problem. I called Dell and got the laptop computer and an hour with a tech restarted my computer and try to fix it, they decided that something in the upgrade process damaged my CDRom and they sent me a new to replace my current one. I'll get it Tuesday and weather post or not, that is the question. Just in case where there are other people out there who might have the same problem.

-Thank you again for your help

  • My DVD camcorder is not detected

My DVD camcorder is not detected in the import function.  I use a dell from the factory with an i5 and 8g of RAM.  The operating system is the latest version of Win 10 (10162).  It is not the cable or the camera because Moviemaker detects.  Any ideas/help is appreciated.

What version of Premiere Elements is installed on your computer Windows 10?

If elements first 13/13.1, you should know that this latest version does not capture DV and HDV firewire support in a Capture of the first elements window.

The following Adobe document gives workaround solutions proposed by Adobe for this situation.

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/premiere-elements/KB/removed-features-formats-elements.html

The latest version of Premiere Elements that has this feature is 12/12.1.

For now, I have a version of Premiere Elements on Windows XP 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit and 64-bit Windows 8.1. I don't have any version of Premiere Elements installed on Windows 10, so I can't speak firsthand how he should behave in what concerns DV and HDV firewire capture formats in versions of Premiere Elements earlier than version 13/13.1.

Please review, study and provide more details.

    Thank you.
