My e510 Dimension of networking

I have a Dell Dimension e510 that I plan to use strictly as a media player connected to my TV HD of Mitsubishi. My office has Media Center 2005 installed and an ATI TV Wonder 650 card TV Tuner installed. I am running XP home like a BONE.

I have a desktop HP HPE-350 t Core 860 2.8 i-7 GigaHz. running Windows 7.

Because I'm under 2 different OS I am going to run into problems?

Also is the ATI TV Wonder compatible with Windows 7 if I install in my HP running Windows 7?

Hello:

You can network your Windows computers with different versions without any problem. I've networked Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 7 computers and they all play well together.

As for your card ATI TV Wonder 650 TV Tuner is compatible with W7... Well, to save you a lot of trouble looking for an answer, I recommend you download and run the Advisor to upgrade to Windows 7 on the computer with your TV card.

The W7 Upgrade advisor will report all compatible and incompatible hardware and software and also will report if there is any solution for the problems that it finds.

You can download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor below:

  • Dimension E510: Power supply, video cards and fans...

    Howdy Dell Community!

About 2 years ago I bought a Dell Dimension E510 desktop to game and machinima. It has served me pretty well until about a week ago lightning hit a tree outside my window while I tried to shut down my system. The storm came pretty quick and I didn't know that it was there only a rumble of Thunder, so I started to stop, but it was too late: smileysad:. The motherboard was virtually unusable. I took it to a local computer repair shop and the machine lights up and works just fine except for the card NETWORK does not work on the map AND if you did a RAM test that it would fail, but not one stick of RAM could be found with a problem. They ordered a replacement for my Dell motherboard.

So I was thinking the other day, 'now would be a great time to make updates!". I put a 250 GB Seagate Barracuda HARD drive to replace the old 80 GB Hitachi. I also thought to improve cooling, the power supply and the video card. I have a lot of questions so here Let's go!

    (1) can I replace the fan inside the shrowd of cpu with a spare fan fan, and if so what are the dimensions of the fan?

    (2) can / should I strap in a 80 mm fan / 120 mm at the rear of the case to increase the flow of air from the case?

    (3) I heard that put a spare PSU is FRY your motherboard. I don't want that, but Dell doesn't provide upgrades of power supply (isn't that Nice of them?). A power PC Power & Cooling 500W Dell will work with the motherboard and the case?

    (4) after installing a new power supply, something like an ATI Radeon HD 3870 would work well? (compatibility with the motherboard)

    (5) I read something about being owner or something in this sense (like my e510) Dell systems. What is c?

Well, that's all for now. I hope that there will can help me!
    Thanks for your time.

  • Network card and Dell Dimension 4550 (533MhzFSB)

The geniuses out there know if its possible to install a wireless network card full to a desktop Dell Dimension 4550? Or would a Wireless N USB network adapter will work better? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Rather than having to connect to a modem and all that fun jazz.

I don't know what you mean by a "full" wireless network card, but if you can install an adapter wireless integrated (as one of THEM), depends on whether you have an empty expansion slot (and what kind of accommodation).  You can either open the case and look; Read the documentation that came with your computer; or go HERE and enter your service tag (you will need to use Internet Explorer, if you want to try the 'Analyzer' online to detect your current configuration.

My suggestion, however, would be to go with a USB wireless adapter, one who has a fairly long USB cable preference so that you can get out the antenna located between the back of the computer and the wall.  Following the same reasoning, if you decide to use an internal adapter, try to find one with a removable antenna, so that you will be able to get an extension of antenna and put the antenna in a place better than behind the computer.

Be aware that if you get a N (internal or external) wireless adapter, you won't get a flow and speed wireless-N if you connect to a Wireless N router/access point.

Is there a way I can audio adapters plug at the back of the desktop computer, so I can use the audacity program to transfer audio cassettes to CD? The Dell manual for this office was is not clear.

The manual is very clear and very precise.  The Dimension 5150/E510 comes with 5 in a sound.  This is not a a step ronco set it and forget it.  You must save each track and then burn an audio cd red book with software such as roxio cd creator.  There is no button put a cd and burn directly from the analog to the digital format.

  • Compatibility Windows 8 with Dimension E510

Recently, I upgraded my E510 with Windows 8.  Now, the screen of the system does not show the type of processor, amount of ram, or product ID.  Also, I tried to install a printer network and while it says it is installed it does not appear in the screen of the device and the printer.  When I select print into a Word document the printer shows as a choice but do not print.  Is it possible that the hardware and Windows 8 are not really compatible?

Performed a clean installation of Windows 8.  Everything seems to be fine in the world now.  Thanks again for all your help.

  • Dimension E510 video card upgrade

    Hello

I apologize if this isn't the place to ask this question, because I'm not too familiar with the forums.

I am currently using a fairly old Dell Dimension E510 system and hoped to upgrade the video card.  I googled under and turned off for a while now, hoping to find an answer today, but most of the results seem to date several years with links to maps is no longer in stock.  Knowing little about video cards, if someone here could offer advice on a replacement that will last me until I have buy a new PC later in the year, I would really appreciate it.

    My system features:

Size of Windows 7 desktop computer E510
Processor Pentium IV - 3.0 GHZ
4 GB of RAM (3.5 usable)
    Power 460 w (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002G1YPHK)
    Radeon X 300/X 550/X 1050 video card (chip Type: Radeon X 600 Pro)

If he has more information required of it, I'd be happy to try to provide it.  I think that the graphics card uses PCI Express, but to be honest, don't really know how to check if it is 1.0 or 2.0 or 2.1 (or what it really means).

With respect to a replacement of the video card, I mean really something sharp.  I imagine that the system he could not handle anyway.  I do a lot of games on the PC.  For most of World of Warcraft, which I would like to run a bit more smoothly.  It would be also nice to watch videos 1080 on YouTube without stutter constantly, but I don't know how much this has to do with the graphics card and how much has to do with her being just a really old computer.

I would like to spend less than $100 to replace, if possible.  As I said, I plan on getting a new machine later in the year, and it's more a stopgap solution until then.  Still, I obviously prefer the best shot for my money.

I was looking on Amazon, but I don't know if they are to be considered:
    -http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Mini-HDMI-Graphics-01G-P3-1526-KR/dp/B00549HZ7S
    -http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-100292DDR3L/dp/B004N3BH0C

The last seems to his price is great, but I know there are problems of compatibility with PCIE 2.1 and do not know if that would come with my system.

Thank you all for reading and for advice, suggestions or any help that you can offer.

    -Joseph

I would forget the last one (HD 5450).  Very low end and not much better considered as the new HD integrated graphics on computers today.  Also, forget the old 9800 GT.  It is not at all sharp.  Version 2.1 is compatible on motherboards 1.0, which is probably what you have.  If you play WOW, I would not go with the GT 520 either because it is very low end for any type of games.  I would watch the HD 6670 if you want something reasonable in cost and will perform well enough for WOW.  Your old Pentium 4 is just holding you back, however.  Here's a couple to watch and I don't think you need to spend more than one.

  • Dell dimension e510 CPU upgrade

Almost 2 years ago, I bought a dell dimension e510 with the pentium d 820 installed processor desktop computer but now I want to put the best processor in it it may take. now heres where the problem begins: I put it in (radiator and all), but when I plugged it in, the power of computers led turns orange and nothing happens; No start, display, diagnostic lights or a message saying incompatible processor. I put the back of 820 to and it worked fine but the same 960 post custom. I thought that maybe the processor could be bad, so I sent it back, but the seller (seller ebay w / 99% positive feedback) says that it worked fine when he tested and it sends to me.

My question is: I'll be able to install a copy of the full version of Windows XP on the E510 come my HARD drive or the BIOS somehow will not allow this?

  • Help! Problem installation internal Dimension E510 w/Vista Pioneer DVD/CD burner

I recently bought a DVD/CD burner internal Pioneer (model DVR-1910LS) to replace the current CD Sony DVD burner.  Clarification on the pioneer can burn CDs and DVDs but my Sony Burns only CD

I removed the My Device Manager Sony Reader, shut down my computer and installed the new drive Pioneer.  On reboot, I get the following error message:

"Drive 3 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-1 (PRI IDE slave)."

Press F1 to continue or F2 for Setup. »

I have to press F1 to continue, to go back to my device manager and click with the right button on my storage looking for new hardware devices.  It detects the new Pioneer device and takes about 10-15 min. to install drivers... don't know why it took so long but good.  However, when I go to 'My Computer', or my new Pioneer drive or my standard CD-ROM player appear on the screen.

At this point, I try to do a reboot to see if that will pull up the readers once again, but my computer is still frozen on the "shut down" screen for about 1/2 hour.  Then, I don't have a very wide power and back on but now the Device Manager does not recognize ONE of my DVD or CD ROM drives and still does not appear on "My Computer".

I reinstalled my Sony and which still works fine, but I really need the ability to burn DVDs on this new device.  Can someone help me?

Also, I got a Dell Dimension E510 out of Windows Vista.

  • GeForce 8800gts, PSU and a Dell Dimension E510

I'm not an expert on the material, so I'll try and do that as clear as possible.

I have a system Dell Dimension E510, running a P4 3.0Ghz and 2.5 GB of RAM. I am looking to update my graphics at a Geforce 8800 card or an 8600.

I confirmed I have plenty of room for the 8800 card to fit my motherboard, but I am more concerned about my diet.

Now I looked around this forum for a definet response. Most argued that the stock of POWER Dell 305 block w is able to run a 8800 with no problems, while others were not so sure, he could and recommended that they improve their power supply to an Antec, since its been proven that they work with the E510.

I know that this has been asked before in the past and I'm sorry, but I just want absolute course before buying it, will be a run on the PSU E510 Geforce 8800? I don't plan on overclocking the card or something like that.

  • "RAID volume is degraded. Dimension E510

I have a Dell Dimension E510, running Windows XP Media Center, I bought in November 2005.

I now have a permanent error message on a pop-up from Intel.  He said that "a hard drive is missing; the system works normally.  However, data protection is no longer available. »

He said as I should be able to rebuild the volume on a disk hard nine, but when I try to do it tells me that 'the hard drive replacement lack of ability to use to rebuild the volume'.

I tried to restore the system using Norton Ghost.  That worked, but does not solve the problem.  Is this likely to be a hardware problem?  What else can I try?

    TIA!

  • (Redirected) For Dell Dimension 5150 Windows 10 upgrade: "there are no supported network devices.
