My files on the hard drive are getting corrupted?

I use the model of MacBook Air 2013 Yosemite running. I have a Seagate BackPlus 1 TB drive to NTFS. And I use Tuxers NTFS on my Mac to read and write files from NTFS devices. Lately, I'm sloly from knowledge that my files on the hard drive are getting corrupted. When I try to open any folder I blocks until I have remove my hard drive. I lost some files like this. Now, they are completely inaccessilble. The big sone files show even ehen 0 bytes, they are around a GB or something. I start out freak because all my data is in this hard drive. 1 TB of data. Its my life is locked in it.

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

Thanks in advance...

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

Probably not. The problem you are experiencing is almost certainly that the drive itself has failed. It could have also been caused by third party software that you use to support a formatted NTFS volume. Isolate the cause to one or the other is probably not an effort worth it, because the files themselves are probably already damaged and unusable. In this case the only alternative to certain to succeed is to restore from a backup.

As you know the Mac FAT32 and ExFAT supports and can read, but not write - formatted NTFS volume. For this reason, if you ask the Windows compatibility, you must select ExFAT.

You could try using the third-party data recovery software, even if success is not guaranteed. I can offer no specific product recommendations.

original title: Netbook Windows 7 problem

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    Hello

I suggest you post your question to the link and check.

  • XP is not start properly, important data files on the hard drive, location unknown such as e-mail addresses, individual emails and favorite links on Internet Explorer. The system is damaged irreparably, what is the solution?

I need ideas to solve this problem.

You can retrieve the data without being able to get into Windows. The methods described require a certain level of computer skills. You know yourself best, and if a better course of action would be to take the machine to a local professional with a good reputation instead. If you choose to do, do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd, or copy it to an external hard drive. I prefer not to do it if I know the drive is infected because he has a chance to infect your host system. In these cases, I use #2 below.

    2. you can start the computer target with a Bart PE (XP only) or Linux Livecd such as Knoppix or Ubuntu and retrieve the data in this way. This has the additional advantage to tell you if the problems you are experiencing are hardware or software related because if the computer behaves perfectly in Linux, you know that Windows (software) is the culprit. Conversely, if the computer behaves badly under Linux, you will know that there is a hardware problem. This is general information on the use of Knoppix for the recovery of data when you do not have Windows:

You will need a computer with two cd records, one of which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB thumb drive with enough capacity to contain your data OR an external USB hard drive. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD *. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * If your computer has only an optical drive and you want to use this drive to burn data or need to test drive, you can create a USB bootable Linux instead of a bootable CD. This site will show you how to do it- http://www.pendrivelinux.com

    Hi dezertdawg,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Msvcr71.dll errors are caused by situations that lead to the removal or corruption of the msvcr71 DLL file. In some cases, the msvcr71.dll errors might indicate a
problem of registry, a virus or malware problem, or even a hardware failure.

You can use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to ensure that the system files are intact and replace the file. Follow these steps:

  • Satellite L40: How can I recover the files from the hard drive

    Hello

Can someone help me please. About a week ago I started to have a clicking sound coming from my laptop Satellite L40. My laptop froze and when I restarted, I was directed to the system configuration with a message at the bottom saying
"Pri Master Hard Disk Drive SMART status bad, Backup and replace."
    Press F2 to assume. »

I pressed F2, but I don't have any idea what to do?

Can someone tell me how do I backup my files until my HDD disappeared completely or if it was can I use another device to get down them.

I tried using the recovery disk, but the disk does not respond?

    Help, please

    Pete

    Hello

This message looks like a warning of S.M.A.R.T. notification
This means that your HARD disk will eventually fail.
It can happen in the next few days or it can't happen for a few months but the SMART feature has detected that the drive is wrong then it should be replaced as soon as possible.
It seems that your laptop is not very old, so the warranty should cover all replacements.

I see only one way to access and back up the data. Eventually, you could buy an external enclosure SATA USB HARD drive and was able to connect the HARD drive to another computer.
I don't know if you will be able to access the HARD drive because of the failure, but if you want you can try this m.

    Good luck

  • Satellite 855D-S5120 - wouldn't boot efi file on the HARD drive

I had no problem to boot from a usb port or a live cd in grub or gummiboot, but I was not able to do the same with the hard drive.

The NVRAM settings are not persistent. I was able to set a uefi shell using the two Jean efibootmgr or significant, but they are reset to zero when you restart.

I was able to initiate gummiboot out of USB by renaming the BOOTX64.efi file

My efi partition is fat32 and marked as boot-able. I understand that some implementations of UEFI aren't complete implementations by the UEFI specification. which I think is the case here.

Since the NVRAM apears does not have to be definable. I need to know where and what this implementation is looking for hard disk. Someone at - it the answer?

    Hello

I'm not sure that understand your problem.

You are installing a U/EFI OS on the HARD drive but is unable to do start?

I myself 13.04 successfully installed Ubuntu and Fedora 18/19, the start of UEFI.
Of course, the installers to take care of the difficult things for me so I know little about these details.

Please specify what you want to achieve, and let's see if I can be of any assistance.

  • Lost access to the files on the hard drive.

After you use the SYSTEM RESTORE, my office has lost access to all my files of data written and the pictures on the hard drive.

I tried a backup disk or restart several months ago, but the drive will not read it!

How can I restore access to "My Documents" and other folders?

I use Windows XP with all updates of February/March 2013

    Alan / Alfasun

    [Moved from comments]

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the description of the problem, it seems that you have lost access to the files of data and images after doing a system restore.

I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions to help you best:

    1. Why did you perform a system restore?

2 do you have questions about the computer?

    3. If so, please specify the question to better help you?

    4. What are the data and images file format?

System Restore will return all your files non-system as documents, email, music, etc., to a previous state. These files of types are completely affected by the restoration of the system.

Based on the current situation, I suggest you to Undo a restoration of the system after performing a system restore.

Check out the link and check if that helps.

If the problem persists, or you have any questions about the restoration of the system, do not hesitate to let us know. We will be happy to help you.

  • In Vista, it is possible to find and replace a specific name that I used many files on the hard drive?

My apologies if someone already asked this (I couldn't find the answer however).
