My first system restore date is July 30, 2009, and I need a date of previous restoration to eliminate a virus! Help, please!

I discovered a terrible virus named muwiropu.dll that I tried to get rid of weeks using a variety of anti-virus programs, nothing helps. It was 'created' July 6, 2009 according to its properties. At this point, I thought I should choose a "restore point" before this date - but the first 'date of the restoration', I see it as an option on my computer is on July 30, 2009. I tried to 'free' space to see if it could remedy the situation, but not drive. Other ideas to find somehow an earlier date to restore or to get rid of this virus? Basically, what I run, especially all the programs at startup, give me this error message (sometimes 25 times in a row): "the application or DLL"C:\Windows\system32\muwiropu.dll is not a valid Windows image. " Please check this against your installation diskette. "I don't know what to do to do this, go away!

I read the messages on how to choose a date of system restore, but not how to find dates earlier than that displayed automatically.

Eliza,
I have fixed the thread in the original post and here's the URL: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistasecurity/thread/ba80504b-61f1-4d71-960f-b561798b7b42

  • Cannot run some programs after system restore to remove the virus

    Hello

Toshiba my duaghter had a nasty virus that pretends to be an antivirus software product, which sneaked in, between the time his default service Norton has expired and I had the time to install Trend.

Can not remove it using trend, so on the advice of a friend, decided to make a windows system restore to a point before the infection. It worked successfully and the virus has disappeared, but now she can't run some programs, I tried to reinstall Trend, but fails because he says you must first uninstall Norton. But I can't run Norton, or uninstall, and certain folders on C: are no longer accessible.

I have to do a full restore of the Toshiba System (IE back tofactory settings? This seems a drastic measure, but the issue is beyond my meager knowledge of PC.

    Thank you

    Graeme

    Hey Buddy,

Hmm... This announcement is a bit confusing... Maybe the programs you want to say were installed after the system restore point, who knows?

In my opinion you must reset the laptop configuration that you have already written. This will restore the pre-installed Windows version where everything is working correctly and that all the drivers and tools are installed.

Therefore, you only need the Toshiba Recovery disk and boot from it. This will restore the factory settings.

  • System Restore can remove a Virus.

I don't think I have a virus, but I was just curious. Because Microsoft System Restore restores the files and settings, can it remove a virus?

  • Windows Explorer does not respond, the applications do not open, System Restore does not work. Help!

Hello, my computer is having a lot of problems, which started last night. Here are the things that are run:

    -Windows Explorer does not respond
-Computer cannot disconnect correctly: down/restarts when I close the computer says "disconnect" for hours.
-Cannot use the system restore and may not even start from Safe Mode command prompt
    -Safe mode does not load
-No applications work, apart from web browsers, and AVG.

I added not all strange programs and I do not think it is malware, but I can't actually run my anti-malware program. My computer is running really hot, what he has always done and I keep it high and the fan not covered (I'm broke, can't afford a fix of the computer, or the new computer).  Please talk is profane. I'm not all that techno.  THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

    The model is:

    M8622 laptop Gateway

  • How to restore Vista recovery Partiton? Help, please

I bought the HP Pavilion dv6z-1100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with installed OS Vista Home Premium (32 bit).

There are recovery Partiton (drive D). I have not at any drive recovery. There were a few errors in the operating system later and I installed some other cd of vista vista. I got to the recovery partition. Now I want to restore vista recovery partiton present on my hard drive. I run the System Restore Wizard, but there is no option to restore the D drive system. It gives only the option restore from restorepoint. Please tell me how to restore from recovery partation. Best regards

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, with HP you will need to press F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    See you soon.

  • Problem with system restore post on Vista update

My Vista PC loses the internet connection so I tried to restore to the last known point of function after uninstalling Norton 360. This has created an error in rstrui.exe (system restore Microsoft Windows has stopped working) Please help! I think this happened to post recent MS update a couple of days.

    Hello

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

I will need some additional information to help you best.

O what is the exact error message you get?

O that you reinstall the Norton software before you try to restore your computer?

In the meantime, you can try to restore your computer to a previous state of safe mode.

Try to restore your computer to the previous state of safe mode.

Follow the instructions to start the computer in safe mode.

1 turn on the computer or restart the computer

2 start typing the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Menu of Options will appear.

If you start typing the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error". To resolve this issue, restart the computer and try again.

    3. ensure that the safe mode option is selected.

    4. press ENTER. The computer then begins to start in safe mode.

Follow the instructions below to restore your computer to a previous state of safe mode.

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    3. In the System Restore dialog box, click Next.
    4. In the list of restore points, click a restore point created at least a week before the current date, and then click Next.

Note: If you do not find a restore point that is aged for at least a week, select the first point of restoration that is available.

    5. Click Finish.
    6. The computer restarts. The system files and settings are returned to the State they were when the restore point was created.

Check whether the problem is resolved.

Please post back and let us know if it helped to solve your problem.

    Kind regards

  • Boots Vista 64 Ultimate SP2 (with domain) to the mouse cursor black screen white after that several failure system restores

Who can help me to WHO:

Sorry for fast hiking, misspellings, it's late and I do not use my normal computer to this problem I have.

I am currently sympthym to start the black screen with a white cursor (furniture, put in construction in the middle) with my laptop Dell Studio 15 (model 1537) that running Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2.  He started tonight after repeatively, I tried to restore to a date prior to the System Restore tool.  I wanted to get back to Monday due to some software installations.  However, each attempt to restore failed and then after the 3rd or 4th attempt, when I tried to restart, I was faced with a window very long stop, and I was impacient and pressed and held the power button to stop it.  Subsequent starts, I've known this problem with no solution having been found for the moment.

I tried several things at first, such that I tried Ctrl-alt-del, control-shift-esc, blindly connect with my fingerprint.  I tried windows key combos, but no luck.  Still stuck with screen black mouse cursor

I have my vista ultimate 64 bit installation disc, and I started with the dvd and tried to fix it.  Automatic repair tool says he finds a problem with my start and had a difficulty to which I applied and rebooted.  But it did not work.

Then, I tried to boot from the dvd again and did the repair option again, this time, Autostart reparir tool see nothing wrong with my start and I tried a system restore, but alas, it failed after having worked for a bit.  Telling something about restoration being corrupted.  I tried command prompt (X:\Source) and make chkdsk c: /p (which btw, implies / f as well) and it found some errors and repaired them or what not was wrong to write to newspapers, even if and then after long waiting, returns to the c: prompt.  No effect.

On subsquent dvd boots, I tried the option to command line renaming a "Logs" directory and create a directory "Logs" empty (which was mentioned in some research online and even in a few posts here), but that has not solved the problem for me either.

Dvd later boots, I have tried regedit solution method, where you will load a SYSTEM key and set some sort of AUTHORITY NT set... but when I checked key, she was already the correct setting.

Then I learned that I could press the "Shift" key repeatedly while mode cursor screen black/white/and try the propmpt for keys pop-up to sticky.  But he said no 'link' as many instructions in this message box.  When I click 'Yes' to sticky keys, nothing is displayed and the pop-up closes.  Ditto for the 'no '.  There is no mention of accessibility settings.

I tried all modes of security, but just a white cursor plu experience.  I have tried to use "last known configuration', 'debug mode', 'start logging mode', mode"disable driver signing"and again, the same thing, the cursor of the black and white screen.  I'm really at my wit's end, and I don't want REALLY to re - install everything (operating system, programs, settings, etc.) ... I did not back upward, and I use this machine without problem for more than a year.

I remember once XP has a "repair install" mode which was really obvious to end users, since it looked almost identical to a clean install.  I have also heard (but can't really confirm) Vista has no such a fashion, that, by clicking on install, he repaired to the simular OS to XP disks how would repair their facilities.  I can't risk my data/programs/settings for accidental clean installation.  Help, please!

    Sincerely,
    Robert Eckman

According to me, put it back in place, is the only solution to your problem!

  • Internet lost connection after Vista system restore

    Hello

I've lost the ability to connect to the internet after system restore.  I tried a few different dates, but have the same problem.  I have tried many of the rememdies on the forums, but now luck. I havn't seen all that is exactly what I'm going thru, so I thought that I have that would give a shot.

The connection is through a wireless router.  No problem before the system restore (other than a virus major that I have my daughter!).  I have another computer I'm on now has been and still works fine.  I tried the following...

    Rounter unplugged for 5 minutes
    reset the network adapter
    reinstalled drivers
several things through "command window" (do not remember so)
I tried several dates on the system restore

    I'm so frustrated.

I would be grateful to anyone who helps!

    Thank you
