My garmin gps is considered unallocated disk1 on my windows xp machine, but works fine on any other machine. I have re-installed all my drivers but still the same problem

My Garmin GPS recently stopped to connect to my PC, I hear the beep when it connects and the driver is loaded in Device Manager, but appears as unallocated disk1 in disk management and will not assign a drive letter. It works fine on any other machine. (The same thing happened to my nook also color).
Here is what I tried:
1. tried all ports USB - same effect
2 uninstalled/re-installed all the usb drivers
3 remove the controller device manager usb and windows allowed to re - install.

I am currently at a loss as to what else to try

Kind regards

Sean

Hi Sean,.

Check if any firmware or the last update is available for the device from the manufacturer's website.

You can also run the troubleshooter from the link given below and check if that helps fix the problem:

  • Map screen: assign the same GPS location to a 'rare' image group

    Let's a have a buch of photos that were taken in the same place at different times. The images are scattered throughout the fimstrip and might even belong to different collections in the same catalog (or even different catalogs?). What is the best way to assign the same GPS coordinates to all these photos using the map screen?

    Of course, the direct way to do is to carefully select all of these photos in the Filmstrip, and then click the desired location on the map. It is problematic for reasons more than one. First of all, it is difficult to scroll the whole band and choose the photos one by one. Second, if I acccidentally miss one or two photos, I have to start all over again.

    The best way would be a sort of copy / paste appproach: copy the desired location in the Clipboard (another image or directly from the map) and then paste it on the desired images one by one or, better, on groups of images. A feature that, at first seems promising in this respect is the field of text input on the right that contains the GPS coordinates in the form of text. It is editable, which means that I can copy the coordinates (as text) of an image and paste it in the same field from another image. However, this unfortunately does not guarantee that images will end up with identical locations: the image that received the new coordinates could (and will be) end up with a slightly different location in terms of the image of the "donor". This means that the coordinates are stored internally with a precision greater than their representation in the text entry field.

    So, what are the other options?

    In the grid, select the "donor" photo, and then ctrl-click to select the photos of 'recipient '. Then synchronize the metadata, including the GPS location and any other fields that you want to synchronize. It's the equivalent of copy and multiple - Lightroom paste.

    This works only in a single catalog. It will not work in several catalogs (which of course is one of the many reasons why many people use a single catalog for all of their photos)

  • Does anyone know how to connect a Garmin GPS to the EOS 7 d? The camera does not see.

    When I plug in my Garmin GPS on my EOS 7 d and go into the GPS settings in the menu. The camera does not see all I get is "GPS not connected indication." The GPS turned on and functional. Someone at - it ideas?

    Once I had an application that you had photographed the display of a GPS device (the type that a rider could use because they observe "breadcrumbs" trail of your itinerary) on #1 chassis (they wanted to just make sure that you have a picture of the time on the GPS display.

    You then go about your day taking photos with the GPS running indepdently.

    At the end of the day, you import the images and it asks you to enter the time displayed on the first photo.  It uses the display of GPS time and calculates the offset of the time, the camera recorded in the EXIF data (just in case the clocks were not perfectly synchronized).  Then she uses the breadcrumbs on the GPS track and apply the GPS position, data for each photo from your camera roll.

    It was a bit complicated and app tried to take over your App "photo management" (which I didn't... "I wanted just the position data added to the existing images), but it worked.

    The fact is... I was able to add correction of position information to each photo and it did not require actually integrate the GPS to the camera (it was quite after the fact).

    Today, I own the module GPS Canon (MUCH more convenient), so I don't deal with that more.

  • How read XML file (extn is .gpx) created by Garmin GPS

    I need to read a XML file with extension .gpx created by Garmin GPS. In general, the .gpx files, we work with are rows of 20K - 30K. My current workaround is to open the .gpx file in Excel and save it as a .csv, I then read using LabVIEW. However, we would go out to Excel the workflow and read the .gpx file directly in LabVIEW.

    The attached .zip contains the original .gpx file created by GPS and the .xlsx file created by open - save in Excel 2007.

    I use LabVIEW 8.5.1 on Vista 64-bit.

    Thank you!

    If this file has this format always you don't need to use an xml parser to extract the information. The ScanFromString function can do. See the code I developed

    Hello!  I try to update my Garmin GPS and have saved the program on my desktop.  When I open it, the program retrieves and then I get the message: "Bootstrapper.exe has stopped working".

    I searched the internet and forums of Microsoft for answers, but I don't know why this is happening.  I followed an instruction in the forum by changing the setting of the DEP to just windows and programs and do not apply to ALL.  I restarted my computer and I tried to rerun the Garmin update.  I got the message again.  Y at - it somewhere on Microsoft where you can download just the ' Bootstrapper.exe by itself?

    All the updates of Windows and Microsoft are up to date.  I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, pack svc 1 & 2.  Could someone help me please?  I'm pretty knowledgeable with computers, but it frustrated me no end.

    Thanking you in advance,

    Hello

    1. have you made changes to the computer recently?
    2. the program is already running while update you?
    3. where did you download this update?

    Method 1.
    I ask you to re - download the update and then try to install it. Its possible this bootstrapper is damaged. If the problem persists, then put the computer in a clean boot state, and then try to update.
    May be a third party application is causing the conflict.

  • Question "Consider replacing your battery" in Windows 7 Professional RTM

    I have Acer Aspire 7515z. I use windows 7 RTM. Now it's showing an icon cross on battery, saying that "consider replacing your battery" that my battery is to give the same performance. I have disabled the method of the Microsoft ACPI-compliant control battery, he disappeared from the icon, but did not extend my battery life. I reinstalled windows, but same problem occurs. Help me solve this problem. Thank you

    Impossible to find even a 7515z in the list of Acer!

    It could be that the battery in the laptop is not in good condition and Windows tells you that, in order NOT to turn off warnings...

    I'm considering buying a computer with Windows 7.  Is there a driver for my Canon Multipass F50 printer?  I have Office Professional for XP - can I load office software on the new computer with Windows 7?

    Page drivers Canon MultiPASS F50 & the downloads shows nothing for Windows 7 (or even for Vista), so I doubt that it works.

  • How do I get the acceleration and GPS at the same time?

    Goal: Get an acceleration and GPS at the same time

    Current situation: I can get acceleration or GPS. When I try to get the data, the code ends.

    Mini Code

    If (bps_event_get_domain (event) == sensor_get_domain()) {}
    handle_acceleration_data();
    }
    If (bps_event_get_domain (event) is {geolocation_get_domain()})

    handle_gps_data();

    }

    Question: Anyone know how to get data in an event or other methods?

    Thank you for your attention,

    Your code shows event handling, but not the request or to obtain events.  Can you show more of your code?  The following should work (note there is no error checking):

    sensor_request_events(SENSOR_TYPE_ACCELEROMETER);
    geolocation_set_period(1);
    geolocation_request_events(0);

    bps_event_t *event;

    I do not expect that LR is changing the GPS information. (Unless you change the modules of card). If you export your DNG in jpg and look at the exif data, you should see the complete information of GPS, not the LR round once.
