  • Cannot eject the USB device.

Cannot eject the USB device. I don't see the icon to safely remove in the task bar.
I tried to run the following path, but not luck.

    (C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll)

The icon is hidden behind the small arrow in the lower right of your screen.  Click on that, and you will see a number of icons, which one will remove safe material one.  Be aware that unless you have a removable USB device connected, the icon will not be there.

    Good luck.

    Hi Itay,

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you get this error "the application \Device\HarddiskVolume4\Windows\System32\svchost.exe prevents this device to be stopped. Close the application and then try to stop the device again. "Whenever you try to eject the external hard drive.

You may get this message if Windows was started with the inserted disc. Try to wait until Windows is completely loaded before inserting it, then if you try to eject it doesn't work.

You can try the suggestions below and check if it helps.

    1. Download Process Explorer from the link below http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653
    2. Click search, find handle or DLL (Dynamic Link Library) in the tool menu.
    3. Type the drive letter of the USB device in the handle or DLL substring text box and press the search button.
    4. Find the process and its PID (process identifier) in the following box.
    5. In the tree of the system process, find the process according to find it handle or DLL dialog box.
    6. Press Ctrl + H to display the handles in the view in the lower pane.
    7. Search for the file by the drive letter and right click, choose Manage close.

  • cannot eject external hard drive with Aperture library on it

    Hello

in recent weeks, I can't eject a hard disc with the Aperture library on it. A dialog appears saying that an Application is still in use, but opening is closed and there is nothing else on the external drive (Seagate 2 to).

Yesterday, I moved my library on a Lacie Rugged drive. Always the same question.

What could be the reason for this?

Eddd you change Aperture preferences recently? Perhaps the preview preferences or XML part?

  • Cannot eject my external drive after emptying the trash

I have a very specific question and I was wondering if someone else he met.  This is for Windows XP.  If I delete a file from my external USB drive (happens to all readers regardless of the brand, size, etc.) and empty the trash, I can't remove the disc.  This only happens with this particular scenario
but so far is happening on 2 PC's, I have at home.

I checked for file handles and there is no open file handles.  I tried to wait a while but still not good.  My only solution is to shut down the PC and remove the disc.

It would be great if I can find a solution to this problem very weird.  Thank you all.

    Mike P.

  • Imation/Apollo Hardrive external 500 GB

I'm still using XP and my computer does not allow me to join my external hardrive.  It appears to start upward, and then disappears.  It is but windows in its great wisdom, decided that he would ignore the device.  How can I fix?  I'm not an expert in computer SCIENCE and non-scientific language descriptions need.

    Hello

    ·        Remember to make changes to the system?

    ·        Your system is able to recognize other USB devices (flash drive, etc.) without any problems?

    ·        You will see the device listed in the Device Manager?

    ·        You see an error message in Device Manager or in the system? If Yes, what is the exact error that you are experiencing?

    Method 1:

To verify the device in the Device Manager follow the steps mentioned below.

    a. Click Start and click Run.

    b. type devmgmt.msc in the run box, and then press ENTER.

    c. check if the Imation device is listed in Device Manager, otherwise, click other devices, and check if the device is in the list and you see an error code associated with the device.

    Method 2:

I suggest to plug the device into another USB port and check if the device is recognized by the system or not, or connect another external device and check if that device is recognized by the system.

    Method 3:

I suggest running the fix which is present in the article below and check if the problem is resolved.

  • Cannot eject flash drive

I inserted a flash drive and copied the three pictures on my desk. Now, I am not able to eject the FlashDrive. I get a message from UH saying the drive is in use and cannot be ejected. What should I do?

I don't have to explain why flash player is in use.  You open a photo by using the preview or some other app, which is still open?

If no obvious apps access to its files or flash player, you can stop the Mac and disconnect the flash player.

  • Western Digital Passport Essential cannot eject Windows 7

I have a Western Digital Passport Essential 320 GB for daily use. Whenever I have to eject it from my home PC (Windows XP SP3) desktop tool to remove the device safely, it will be stop turning after 5 to 10 seconds and ready to pull the plug.  But it didn't happen with my laptop (Asus 1215P + Win 7). Whenever I try to eject, it will not stop spinning while waited for 30 minutes.  While computer Win 7 says that the disc was successfully deleted and do not find in the menu.  The solution is to turn off my laptop, unplug the drive and then turn it back on. But it's too much loss of time.
Is there something wrong with WD Passport when you work on Windows 7?  Please help me...

    Hello

If a USB key is attached to the XP computer and is "ready to be ejected", you will notice that the light is off. XP stop actually all power and data transfer to the USB device.

Windows7 does not, therefore, you will notice that there is hard disk activity yet, but it should be safe to disconnect it from the computer.

After that, the hard drive must stop and you can then use the power switch and the power off of the external drive.

I also suggest you look in the device, with the connected player manager and see if there are power options, such as to turn it off or turn it off when not in service or after a specific time period.

To develop, this feature is by design, it allows people to continue to load specific devices (phones, mp3 players, etc.) once they were ejected from the aircraft.  Once you have removed your device safely, you will incur no damage even if the light is still on.

  • Cannot eject the disc while running Fusion

    Hi all

I have an external hard drive with a rarely used vmdk. If I have the mounted external drive, launch the merger and open my Boot Camp virtual machine partition, I can't eject the external hard drive until I stopped the machine virtual Boot Camp and the merger. I think this is new behavior with 2.0.4 and 2.0.5 because I used to be able to eject the external hard drive with Fusion, run the Boot Camp virtual machine. Can anyone confirm this one way or another, and how to escalate this bug/feature of VMware? Thank you.

    Kind regards

    David

This process works fine on my end.  I have a bunch of virtual machines on my external hard drive and when I insert a boot camp, I'm still able to eject the disc.  You could go to the Help menu merging and choose "Collect Support information" and then attach the file created in your answer.

Have you added anything as a secondary hard drive in your machine settings virtual boot camp?  Did you add the drive as a shared folder in your virtual machine?  Have you removed the virtual computer in your external hard drive of Fusion and tried it this way?  Have you plugged disk images to your machine virtual boot camp are stored on the external hard drive?

  • Cannot eject the dvd after you download Premiere Elements on Windows 7

DVD does not eject after the download is complete.

With Windows 7 to disc 4 also download?

Home screen doesn't have an icon "open a project".

Install the first Elements, Photoshop Elements

For specific questions about the use, ask in the ESP / EPP forums. If the disc cannot be ejected, it means that it is still used by some process which, in turn, could mean that your installation not finished never well. Restart the system and try again then.

  • Cannot eject DVD after Win7 upgrade on the Satellite L series

I finished the upgrade of windows 7.

Everything is going well except that at the end I was unable to eject the windows 7 upgrade DVD.

Using the push button above, or right click on the drive and then eject, nothing happens.

Can I get a drivers and where?

    Hello

You n t need all drivers for this
If the CD/DVD drive is connected properly then you should be able to eject the disc without big worries that perhaps something somewhere clams

There is a small hole near the eject button using a small object as a staple food, or something like that and put it carefully in that little hole. This should contribute to eject the disc.

  • Cannot eject the disc hard ultrabay in ' Safely Remove Hardware and and eject the media.

    Just installed my T430s with Win7 x 64.
But I have a problem to the ejection of my hard drive in ultrabay using the icon "Safely Remove Hardware and and eject the media.

I installed the latest Intel Rapid storage driver (RST) worm. 12.8.10.1005 download of Lenovo.

UltraBay drive hard not in the list using the driver Lenovo RST!

If I use the native Win7 driver (Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller), it works:

Works very well using native driver.

I guess that the Intel RST pilot could have some improvements to the native driver... so I would frefer using them.

This is what it looks like in Device Manager:
    Driver Intel RST:

    Win7 x 64 native driver:

Suggestions... someone at - it a newer driver of RST?
Tried to find one at Intel without luck :-(

I tried today with 4 different drivers and here is the result:
1: "Lenovo" RST driver version 12.8.10.1005: best performance of all. Does NOT support ultrabay ejct!
2: Intel RST driver ver. 12.9.0.1001: a little slower than 1. Support ultrabay eject!
3: Intel RST driver ver. 13.1.0.1058: a little bit faster than 2, but not as fast as 1. Support ultrabay eject!

4: Win7 x 64 native driver AHCI: a little slower than the others. Support ultrabay eject!

Test drive: Micron C400 256 GB

Also tried Intel 320 128 GB and using this disc the native driver was also fast drivers Intel RST (did not try the 'Lenovo' RST).

How to join Lenovo for the 'Lenovo' fixed driver?
