My homegroup not working? It won't let me view or change the password. It also won't let me leave the homegroup

Homegroup makes me crazy. So far the only Windows 7 PC in the House was my laptop, but we just got a new office and I if it would be possible to link to the top in a homegroup, I thought wrong. It's impossible! I created a homegroup on my laptop, it wont let me view or change the password. It also doesn't let me leave the homegroup. I read on some other messages that I should delete idstore.sst however after running a full search of the computer I found there is no file on my computer. Any ideas? Thank you!
