My homepage keeps given to "Welcome to Firefox".
I get fed up with affecting one of my favorites to my homepage, then the next time I log in Firefox, once again, it's reset itself back to "Welcome to Firefox" which I read. I installed the new Firefox a few days ago and I am sure that this started since then, is if there is a problem with it? I downloaded it on the Mozilla Firefox site and it seemed installation OK.
If there is a solution for this, please explain to me in the 'the profane language' as I am disabled and are struggling to follow the complex terms. I am able to follow clear instructions, so hope someone can tell me how to fix this, because it gives me a headache - and I hate headaches!
Dave

- In the filter field, type Startup
- Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
- Delete the text string, and then click OK
- Close Firefox and reopen the window to check that it worked.

I downloaded and ran the update of Firefox. It said it was successful and then the homepage etc came. However, after I had closed and starts again the 'old' version came when I clicked on the icon of Firefox with the usual comment I have an old version and that you need to update. I tried this three times with the same result. I have a laptop Compaq Presario 2200.
What I am doing wrong?
If you use the www.google.com/firefox as homepage site that previous versions of Firefox 3 use as homepage you can ignore the message about not using the latest version of Firefox on this page.
Google seems to keep this page.
The text on the implementation of the latest version of Firefox is in the code of the www.google.com/firefox site that previous versions of Firefox 3 use as homepage and it seems that Google is no longer do not update this page.
The current versions of Firefox 4 + is no longer use this website from Google as home page, but use the build-in on: home page as the home page.
Google assumes that you are using an older version of Firefox if you still visit this site, and warns you that you are using an older version of Firefox and invites you to update.
You can use a different page than the homepage as subject: House or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle). -

IM reimage Windows, how can I transfare/keep all my stuff in Firefox?
Hello, once more...
If shortly after restoring my system to the old point, fixing a couple of things, my system has in general been hell. Many features (explorer.exe [not IE... (EVER], Adobe Flash Player, Firefox, Skype, etc.) has been freezing, then stops. So Im planing to reimage. But how can I keep all my stuff in FIrefox? IM thinking I just drag the folder of Firefox on a USB external hard drive and then I did it, but is there an easier way?
Thank you.
The Firefox program files are easily replaced. The important things is located in your profile folder, it in a totally different place than the Firefox program files.

A page is my home page, another is welcome to Firefox, and the other is my LassPass. Can anyone tell my why this is happening?
Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.
See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

How can I get rid of the page "Welcome to Firefox!" at startup?
It is a pain in the neck.
You can check the setting of the homepage:
- Tools > Options > general > startup: Homepage
- https://support.Mozilla.org/KB/how+to+set+the+home+page
Firefox supports several home pages separated by ' |' symbol (pipe).
Delete a possible user.js file and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.
If you do not keep the changes after a reboot or have problems with preferences can also see:
-
Since I've upgraded to Version 10, the 'Welcome' Firefox tab load when I open Firefox and my homepage.
The file titled "prefs" is more than likely prefs.js
The extensions of files that might be hidden in Windows ExplorerThe prefs.js (or just prefs) is perhaps the only file you have.
The other ones listed on the page linked above (prefs.js.moztmp, Pref.-n.js, Invalidprefs.js) may not exist at all. so don't worry to their topic, if you do not see them. -
A strange homepage keeps replacing mine: genio? News of blinkers etc., yuk
This has started to happen a few weeks ago and replicated even when I set preferences to always open on the default firefox homepage. The only way that I can't return to my usual home page is to be online when I get a message like "someone is trying to change your home page. If I catch him one click on 'Cancel' all's well until next time.
Thank you
CUsually, a malware will produce this result.
The most basic will replace your homepage simply by changing the command launched by your shortcut (icon). You can check that by right clicking on the icon you use to start Firefox and looking at the used command ('Target' field). But it also means that your computer has a hijacker (a program of changing the behavior of another program).
It is not related to Firefox in particular, if you use Internet Explorer you will certainly get the same result.
Plan to run some anti-malware on your computer programs to find the culprit.

What is the default setting for the homepage of the new tab in firefox?
My browser has been hijacked, I need to reset and I don't know which is the default setting. I would use the new firefox tab layout.
See:
The URL of the new tab page is on: newtab
The build-in home page URL is on: home.
If there is a problem with the build-in on: home page and then try to reset the search engine used on the subject: homepage.
Reset the pref browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone through the context menu by default on the topic: config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the on: default home page.
- Open the topic: config page through the address bar
- Type in the filter bar: mstone
- Right-click on the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line, and then select: Reset
- Close and restart Firefox
If this did not help, then remove the button Delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder and repeat the foregoing.
