I suggest that you manually change the parameter 1 and take print of all thinking to test. After printing of any document, close the Reader app and then check if the print setting change to 1 because you closed the app with 1. If the setting print page does not change, you can try following steps and check.
Step 1: Put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

HP5746: print blank page and interference, when trying to print several pages
Printer works very well in copy and scan mode and printing a single page. However, when you attempt to print more than one page the second page comes out blank and then blocks on the 3rd page. Disabling jam only leads to a repeat of the first sequence. The computer what is the print screen says 'Attention required' that cannot be erased by judgment of the printer. Have run the Print Wizard and printing HP and Scan doctor and all withdrew as well.
Contact Technical Support of HP and the problem was solved by opting for a pilot generic [HP Deskjet 6980 series (0.3.7071.0)]
