My iMac keeps freezing since the upgrade to El Capitan!

Hello

Can anyone help.

I upgraded a few months ago in El Capitan and since then sometimes had problems with my desktop freezing, an irritation but not too much trouble.

However, in the last two weeks, he becomes a nightmare!

Most of the time its does not happen when I put the cpmupter "sleep" and then when I try and wake him up, she is just completely frozen, & I cannot do anything and end up having to put the broad & market with the switch at the back of the computer. Sometimes, it just freezes in the middle to help and is not even specific to the use of any particular program.

Can anyone help or make suggestions, what could be the problem or how I can try and identify the problem. I'm not technical, so really don't know where to start.

Currently running OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Version

iMac (21.5 inch, late 2009)

3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor

Memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3

ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB graphics card

Thank you very much.

Try each of them in order. A test to see if the computer works properly:

    1. Reset the PRAM
    2. Reset the controller (SMC) system management
    3. Start the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart normally. It's slower than a standard home.
    4. Repair the disk by booting to the recovery HD immediately after the chime press keys control and R that the Utility Menu appears. Choose disk utility and click on the button continue. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) volume entry of the list to one side.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. Hold the button brings up. Disk utility and return in the Utility Menu. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
    5. Reinstall OS X by booting from the Recovery HD using the command and R keys. When the Utility Menu appears, select reinstall OS X and then click continue.
    6. Download and install updated Combo OS X El Capitan 10.11.4.
  • A lot of cookies since the upgrade to El Capitan

With the Mountain Lion, I'd end up usually with 15 to 20 cookies.  Since the upgrade to El Capitan, and using the same sites, I find myself with cookies from 80-90.  The cookie setting is "allow Web sites I visit."  I was wondering if I need to change something or if I missed a setting.  (I've been clear all cookies after each session.)

You always have the same "ad blocker" installed

    extension or add-ons?

I'm afraid that this is the best you can do. Or turn off all cookies

  • Cannot receive mail entering IMAP since the upgrade to El Capitan. Help

I was not able to receive mail from the IMAP account since the upgrade to El capitan. What have I done wrong? Grateful for any help.

The first port of call would be connection doctor in Mail.app (Mail.app-> Windows-> connection doctor).

It will check each connection e-mail and report any problems. From there, you can work on what actions need to be taken (after the results, if it still has not clearly).

  • Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I can't add printers!

Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I can't add all the printers on my Mac. I have a MacBook Pro. I deleted my printer list and restarted my computer. I have reset my system print and restarted my computer. Whenever I have to add the correct IP address to my tab "add a printer", I get the same notification:

If I type 'continue', the rest in the queue and automatically default print job is "suspended." Everyone at the office (PC and Mac users) do not have all the adding problems or printing to the same printer with the same IP address.

  • My white disc light WD external network is no longer visible in the Finder since the upgrade to El Capitan, drive always is accessible from the Windows PC network.

Problem is roughly according to the title. I had a white WD external light of diving for quite awhile now and I currently plugged it on the same network switch as my iMac, and the printer. Since the upgrade to the latest version (pretty sure it's) El Capitan I see is no longer the drive in Finder. There is an old Windows PC that is connected to another network down switch and who can access the drive of property. I have reset the drive and the iMac and replaced the local network cable.

I have some technical knowledge, but I'm not a COMPUTER guru.

Download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. After about 3 attempts to upgrade to windows 10 8.1 I clicked inadvertently this prompt annoying to try again, and finished the upgrade this time.

Nothing wrong with it except the Wifi and ethernet keep falling. If I do repair troubleshooting or deactivate/activate my ethernet card, then it works again for a few minutes before falling again.

I've installed every update that is recommended by the Dell Web site, but it has not changed. I have the Inspiron 7537

Someone recommended measures to fix this can?

The above didn't solve it for me. Someone else had the same problem

    Google windowssecrets dot com Windows-10-Realtek-PCIe-GBE-Family-Controller-Intermittent-ethernet-disconnect

or this icon might work for you:

Suggestion of his "Realtek RTL8411B-US Ethernet controller driver"- and valleys drivers listed are outofdate

Solution download the latest driver realtek.com.tw - Downloads\DellDrivers\Install_Win10_10008_05202016

This installed a driver 10.8.31 2016 date of 11/03/2016 and working pilot.

So to make sure I unisntalled, restarted - he discovered and reinstalled - and now networking is good.

Phew! thus appears the Dell download downloaded drivers are out of date.

  • I constantly receive the death spinning beach ball by adding or modifying contacts since the upgrade to El Capitan.

I did a bit of investigation on it. Here are the facts:

    (1) I use Apple Contacts.app to synchronize with Google contacts.

    (2) I have two computers, a MacBook Air 2013 and an iMac late 2012, the two 10.11.2 running. With respect to the mail, contacts, calendar, etc., they are configured identically.

    (3) I had this problem (among others) for the upgrade on my iMac 2012, so I did a clean install of 10.11.

    (4) this problem occurs ONLY on the iMac (again, same configuration on both machines).

    (5) I removed the plist and all other data in/application Support and restarted several times related to the contacts.app. No dice.

    (6) I repaired disk permissions. No dice.

Review of the console, this is the error message (followed by multiple attempts failed in the same process)

    25/01/16 2:34:34.000 PM kernel [0]: sandbox: com.apple.Addres (564) deny (1) / private/var/run/mDNSResponder network-outgoing

My best guess that sandboxing OS x system is denied access to the demon DNS resolver by com.apple.AddressBook service, seeking to talk with Google at any time any changes.

So here's my question: anyone know how I can ask the system to sandbox of chill out on these queries and continues to deny access to the network? Is there a text file somewhere that I can change to provide permissions for com.apple.AddressBook?

And also, is it not funky how he's just on a single computer, both with the same configuration in system preferences?

PS - No firewall is enabled on each machine.

  • Kernel panic regular since the upgrade to El Capitan

    Hello

I recently installed the new RAM and SSD in my macbook 2009 mid pro with the intention to give a new breath of life for a year or two. Worked perfectly until I decided to upgrade to El Capitan. • Since the upgrade to El Capitan, MBP sleep

    Hello

Since I upgraded my MacBook Pro to El Capitan, (2015) sleep is when I close the lid, which means that unless I leave it plugged in to the power of the day after, when I open in the morning, as the battery almost empty.

I have raised a case of pension, but in vain.

    So far, I have:

    -Reinstalled OS

    -Reset the SMC and LANDAU

    -Unchecked/Rechecked various parameters

On Christmas Eve, I did a full cleaning and reinstall, then Recovery Time machine - this actually solved the problem for a few days, but now he has returned again to not sleep.

I have an another MBP that I've not updated and that's fine.  Did anyone else encounter this problem and if so have you managed to solve? He's really starting to annoy me now...

The computer go to sleep if you select the day before in the black Apple menu?

Otherwise, Use Activity Monitor to your Mac - Apple Support to see if all the processes that prevent sleep.

See also If your Mac does not sleep or wake up when expected - Apple Support

If resetting the SMC and LANDAU has not solved the problem, but it was temporarily resolved after doing a wipe and install likely source seems to be a third-party application that has been reinstalled after erasing the hard drive.  What applications or software you installed when the question began to happen again?

  • MacBook Pro has started to randomly stop when it is on battery since the upgrade to El Capitan

I have a MacBook Pro (15 inch, early 2011) which works very well on the Mountain Lion for a long time. I finally got round to upgrading to El Capitan last week: directly to 10.11.6. A few days later he just powered down without warning while I was working. He was so very well for a few days, but then made several times in the last 48 hours.

I am moderately sure it happens only when it is on battery (it did not in the past hours 8 while that plugged). Whenever it happens, that there is no warning and the Mac then fine restarts (manually) - Although the clock resets always in 1970 until he can contact an NTP server. One of the curious side effects is that my PostScript fonts were blank on the screen in Excel for a few reboots yesterday but then OK once again!

No hardware has changed. Major software change is only El Capitan and possibly an iStat Menus update.

I have reset PRAM and SMC. I ran the short AHT. I disassembled the machine and clean the fans. they were OK, but the problem seems to occur when the Mac is hot.

Spotlight and Time Machine sometimes seemed to be struggling for the upgrade, and I also saw rpcsvchost with 100% of a core for a while. The machine feels sometimes slow - but for the last 8 hours, it was very good. The only model that I put in place, is that it seems to occur only on battery; It's even happened then that the Dock (etc.) were loading after logging in after an unexpected shutdown.

The other thing common is in the newspapers every time:

    Cause of previous stop:-128

I scanned a number of related posts to aspects of it, but do not look at who blames El Capitan rather than material. Yet, many people reported this kind of problem after the upgrade... Coincidence?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

A negative stop code generally indicates a hardware failure. Have the Apple to assess your Mac. The fix may be as simple as a spare battery.

  • My address book contacts have disappeared since the upgrade to El Capitan. Where are they?

Hi, I upgraded to El Capitan yesterday and all the contacts in my address book Thunderbird disappeared. The AddressBook is completely empty. In addition, he didn't even address on the left hand books, for example "personal address book" etc. My contacts are stored on my computer? If so, where they are located and how can I get back to my address book? I've been adding contacts for a few years. When I compose email, email addresses are auto-fill in the field of composition, so it seems they are still out there? Thank you.

    Open the address book window.

Select the Directory to display-layout pane

    Not better?
