My iPhone 4S deleted my photos

My phone deleted almost all my photos and I wonder how to get back them. I got about 9000 and there are now only 630. They are not the photos that are on my computer either, and I had not synced recently. They simply disappeared.

Hi there ptsdasuke,

Looks like you're suddenly missing most of your photos on your phone for any reason any. Had recently disabled iCloud photo library? This could be one of the reasons that they no longer appear. You can check online if they had been synchronized to iCloud:

iCloud Photo library FAQ

You can also access your entire library from the Photos app on iCloud.com.

If this isn't the case, then you will need to restore from a backup made in iCloud or iTunes to restore any missing data:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup

You can see on the import of your existing photos is:

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your computer

Or by first creating a backup of your phone in case you need to restore from it. I'd say backup for this purpose:

  • Deleting photos on an iPhone 6 after importing Photos

I used 6 (iOS 9.2.1) photos to import photos from my iPhone but can't seem to delete them from my phone because I'm running out of space. I can't find an option in Photos for me to do. I use iCloud library but tired of receiving messages telling me I am out of space and need to buy more. I was using the iPhone Optimize Storage option, so when I try to turn off iCloud, he tells me I'm losing photos. I guess that it space to store all of the photos uploaded to iCloud original is much more than the space I have left on my phone. So why would I back up my photos to a photo library. Yes, I could go through frame by frame making sure that they are all there, but there are more than 2500 and would prefer to delete automatically the picures copied after importation. Make sense?

Import Photos Panel has a check "Remove items after importing" below the toolbar. If you enable this, before importing items, they will be automatically deleted.

You don't see this check box, because you have activated on your iPhone photo library iCloud.  As long as you use iCloud photo library, the Mac cannot delete the photos, because they are stored in iCloud and only mirrored on your iPhone.

"Remove items after importation" is to risk anyway. I would not use this option. First, it is safer to check if the import was successful before deleting the photos from the iPhone.  Sometimes it happens that photos will be removed from the device, even if the import was not successful.

So why would I back up my photos to a photo library. Yes, I could go through frame by frame making sure that they are all there, but there are more than 2500 and would prefer to delete automatically the picures copied after importation. Make sense?

Since all the pictures are in the library of iCloud, download them by creating a new library of Photos on your Mac and enable it in your library to iCloud.  It will download all photos in iCloud.

You are you sure, that all the photos are safely on your Mac, disable iCloud photo library on your iPhone.  Then you can connect the iPhone to a USB port and use Image Capture to remove all the photos from the iPhone.

You can also download pictures from iCloud by using the web interface of your iCloud to www.icloud.com account.  Launch the Photos.app on this page and select the photos to download.

  • If I delete a photo in my camera on my iphone

If I delete a photo in my camera on my iphone it will delete the photo on my library of Revel?

    Hi Jo Ann,.

If you have downloaded an image/video to Revel from your iPhone - once it is COMPLETELY TRANSFERRED to Revel, you can remove the photo or video on your camera. He stayed in Revel. Check the status of your download by selecting the icon cloud gradually Revel library screen. It will tell you if you download somewhere or if the library is updated.

If you have the Office Mac Revel, you can check the real status of what is being downloaded, also, and it is the most accurate.

    1. open the library. Select display

    2. Select the status of the download. It will tell you what is being downloaded.

In all cases, once the images are completely downloaded and you have checked the status of downloading the app to Revel (phone or desktop computer), and the State indicates that you are all clear, you can delete your image or video of the film from your phone. Sometimes a download may take some time (depending on what it is) so please check before deleting. You can see a preview at Revel image before the image is in fact fully downloaded.

    Just to be redundant:

The film and the Revel app are separate entities.

    * If you download from the app of Revel, say from your iphone, in the cloud of Revel and make sure it is completely downloaded, you can then LEAVE REVEL and spend in the camera roll on your device and delete this video or photo. It will be deleted from your phone but not Revel. You will open the space on your phone.

    * If you download from the app to Revel in the cloud of Revel, but then remove the video or image from the Revel APP, then you will remove the video or photo of Revel and Revel only. The original image will be always sitting in your camera on your phone. No space savings will occur on your phone.

So, if you are trying to make room on your device:

    1. connect to Revel

    2. to Revel, select regardless of the video or picture that you want to transfer to the cloud of Revel and go through the download process.

    3. When this download is all done completely, you can disconnect from Revel (do not close to Revel until you are sure that the upload is complete)

    4. you can then go into your camera roll on your device and delete what you have downloaded in Revel. That will free up space on your phone.

I would say, as I'm always paranoid about my own images, it is advisable to save a second backup of the images on another device of storage, such as external hard drive or desktop. For reasons of security.

    Best regards

    Glenyse

  • photos deleted from the camera get also delete MY PHOTO STREAM?

Hi, my question is that if I delete a photo film will be removed from MY STREAM of PHOTOS too?

No it is not deleted. Camera and Photo Stream are two distinct sources for photos. Your film is, in essence, your iPhone photo library. Photo stream is a temporary storage of photos that have been taken by any device which is signed on the same iCloud account. Photo stream keeps the last 30 days or 1000 photos, whichever comes first.

You may notice more than this limit of photos on a single device, but if you were to turn off the stream of pictures and then turn on again, you see whatever it is old more than 30 days, or more than 1000 photos, because that's all that would be stored in iCloud.

    See you soon,.
