My ISP is spelled when I set up Outlook Express. I get an error everytime I try to use it.
Outlook Express problem
The address to which Outlook Express shows when it is trying to connect to my ISP is misspelled (Comast rather than Comcast) for an error message shows everytime I try to use it. When I go to run and then Control Panel there is no icon for mail so I can't Mail configuration to try to fix the problem. What can I do?
In XP, Outlook Express, you need to go to Tools, accounts , and then double-click the e-mail account you want to change in the Internet accounts dialog box. This opens the Properties dialog box for this account. Looks like you need to make changes to incoming or outgoing mail tab servers servers.

How to get my Outlook Express to work
When I click on Outlook Express I get a blank page with (work in line/connection in the lower right corner. Nothing happens.
Folders.dbx is probably damaged. In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View. The path to the message will be very similar to this:C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook ExpressWith OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.Note these possible side effects:When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited. -

can anyone help? Im trying to set up email in outlook express, but get an error message
My internet provider is talk talk, but I put the server to a [email protected] e-mail address is it good? anyone would be able to tell me what I should put in put in place? I get this error message it has to do with the establishment of fake? the connection with the server has failed. Account: 'accounts', server '.com', Protocol: POP3, Port; 995, Securs (SSL): Yes, 10060 Socket error, error number: 0x800CCC0E
It depends on what account you are trying to access. If you have a live.com account, and then configure you for live.com. If you have a talktalk account, you need to configure for talktalk. Check the Web sites for each and make sure that you have the appropriate under Tools | Accounts | Mail | Real estate in OE. Each e-mail account has its own settings depending on the provider. Beware also of the antivirus software which can spoil things in OE (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

Using Windows XP Profwssional.
(1) when I try to set up "Remote support" I get the error message: "your current system settings prevent you from sending an invitation. How can I solve this problem?
(2) can I use this feature when both computers are on the same network?
Hello
(1) you must configure your computer to use the remote control - see here:
http://www.winxptutor.com/raenable.htm
and don't forget to make the firewall exceptions
(2) this function works on the different network also (so a computer can be in the United States and one in Australia)
Note - a computer can have Windows XP (family or professional edition) and another may have Windows 7, Vista.

Glad you got it work & you are the very welcome, but some tips to follow in order to avoid this in the future, if you don't mind.
Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.
Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.
Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.
Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

When I open my Outlook Express download my email but I can't. The last email I have is on 26/11/10. How do my email newly downloaded?
You probably have too much in your Inbox.
- Move messages that you see in the user created folders.
- OE backup.
- Close and open OE.
- Compact your folders.
Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: file | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.
Compress your OE folders:
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compact6: Uncheck work offline and make a manual send/receive.
What now? If you still have questions, after return before doing anything else.

I have problems when sending emails on Outlook Express (Windows XP Home) told in the Outbox, even if they were sent. What can I do?
You have apparent dbx file corruption.
Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them. New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.
After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.
Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Original title: I'm under Oulook Express 6 Windows XP Home SP3 environment.
Bruce:
The problem has been fixed (I think) but in a most unusual way. Let me explain.
When I was closing down to give the computer a rest yesterday, there was a pop up saying that vprotector expected to close. He really wanted the process of closing until I clicked on finish the process. Curious to know what vprotector is, I searched on the net and got a lot of shots, saying: it is a virus and should be deleted pronto. So I searched the hard drive for the vprot. * and found in the folder program files for AVG!
I then went to AVG to see if it's really a part of AVG and they said yes. If there is a problem with vprot, the toolbar is at fault and needs to be reinstalled. There was one click here to download and run the part of the program to fix the problem. However, I had WebRoot antivirus running that stopped the download of this program as a virus. Because I trust AVG, I've disabled WebRoot and reinstalled the AVG search bar.
I haven't restarted WebRoot and computer flying along as it should, and OE is the link to IE when I click on a link as it has always done.
Seems to me to be the faulty AVG toolbar and a cross with two virus programs upward was at fault. Thank you for your time. Your reply gave me a chance to think differently this problem could arise.
Computers are really complicated machines and we have to be complicated to deal with their problems.
Thanks again,
Fred

When I try to send emails via outlook express, I get the following error message:
When I try to send and email using Outlook Express, I get the following error message:

Any help gratefully received. David
Ok thank you. I received three messages from you, two of the demon and the other Hotmail.
Hotmail has helpfully includes the originating IP address, so I was able to check further. There is no WHOIS data for it (a bad sign to start), but it is not in the CBL. Read this page to see why it is listed and take the appropriate action. Once you are convinced that your computer - and another using the same network - are clean, you can use the link at the bottom of the CBL page to remove from the list the IP address.
I still don't know where FCMA comes into it, and diagnostic tests in the NDR is incorrect. It is not the content of the message that is at fault, but I suspect that the block list.
Good luck!

Last night, everything seemed normal. When I try to open Outlook Express, I get this message. "Outlook express could not be started. The application could not open message store outlook express. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft Support for assistance. (0x800700C1, 193) "after this message, the message above was posted. I bought and ran a program called FixCleaner with the same results. I also cleaned my disk and more 66 G remains to use and have a lot of available memory.
Thank you all for your help, but I gave up and took it to my computer guru and fixed it. He said there where a few old accounts in the computer and registry was messed up and it solved the problem and now it works.
THANKS again!
