Don't know how to set hourly Hibernate in your power option.  Default (hibernation to 1440 minutes or 24 hours), your Vaio is in mode "Eve" than after 24 hours before changing mode Hinernate.

During standby mode, your technology Intel Smart Connect, if activated (default is on) are going to wake up periodically to check the email and messages as your smartphone or tablet so that they are already on your machine when you exit sleep next time. Especially when there are large files to download, the kick-off of the fan, can consume the battery, and so your machine can become hot.

You can disable it in Vaio Control Center > battery & > Intel Smart Connect technology.

original title: problems with Stand By and Hibernate

I have a desktop Compaq 6140EA with BIOS current under XP SP3 (updated) and all driver updates applied.  When I put the PC in each Stand By or Hibernate the PC often comes back to life on its own, without my mouse movement / hit a key (Stand By) or touch the power button (Hibernate).  I have reset the BIOS to default settings. no improvement.  I've selected all the power management always we and tried the ACPI fixed feature off installation and power button / stop.  No improvement.    The problem seems to occur less if I turned off my modem broadband Ethernet connected before entering Stand By / Hibernate.

I wonder if I got bad wake-on-LAN and if so, how to disable it?

Thanks, but I already did those things.  But I seem to have found the answer: I pointed out that the problem seems to be related to the modem broadband.  I found KB/810719 related to this issue.  I followed the instructions: in Device Manager / network adapters / properties / power management check only allow management Stations to bring the computer from sleep mode.  That fixed it.

  • breaks computer much while using seem to just want to stop, and then start, and go slowly

My computer seems to pause a lot while I use it, it's as if I'm to halfway through something or to looking for it and my computer stops, then seems to think then lights up, but it very often does insofar as it will stop move not giving any notification. It also seems that the computer starts or perhaps might there be a problem with the hard drive to pause the cause?

Could you provide your system specifications?

Could list you some of the programs that you are running when this happens?

You have an external, attached and equipment currently in use during this time?

Make sure the device drivers for hardware such as network, video and audio are updated?

Have you tried to do a clean boot and see if the problem persists? (see below)

Have you installed a new hardware or software since you started facing this problem?

You create a new user account and see if the problem persists?

How to do a clean boot:

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

    Scan your computer for viruses:

There are some that will hide your files/folders so that you don't normally see them. I strongly suggest to run a scan on your computer with your antivirus/antimalware software. If you need to, you can also use the Microsoft Safety Scanner, it's free:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Also, if your files are hidden, check out the following article on how to display the:

If the problem persists, check your memory, could be faulty:

It runs from a floppy disk or CD, you must remove or
confirm whether your one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours, so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

  • Pavilion 15 p143cl ENERGYSTAR: laptop is not fully Hibernate, sleep and shutdown.

Since I did something with my drivers, things are haywire. Here is a list of a few things I had problems with: sometimes when I use a voice such as Skype or discord application, sounds on my desk are picked up through my microphone even if I use a helmet, automatic my computer maintenance starts the most random times and it never seems to end and every time I have stop Hibernate, or put my computer to sleep, my screen turns off, but my fan, psychic power, and mouse to lighting are always on. the fan works as well, but it's at a speed slower and quieter. All my drivers are up to date, and therefore my BIOS. My guess is that the BIOS update may have caused things to go haywire in my computer. Can someone please help me solve this problem? I have to use to press the power button to do my computer turn off or go to sleep.

    Hello

Not necessarily - I just noticed your reply.

First, run some diagnostics as follows.

    Stop of the laptop.

Tap away at the esc you key start Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Select the Menu of diagnosis ( f2 ) and run the tests on the hard drive and memory.

If there are error codes generated, post back with details - if everything goes, try the 2 suugestions below.

    1. on some machines, the pilot for 11 series IMEI has been known to cause that kind of question of the judgment, so it may be worth trying an earlier version.

You can use the following method to install an earlier version of the driver IMEI.

Download driver IMEI on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe

Once done, open your downloads folder and run the installer - it warns you that it is an earlier version, but simply continue.

    When finished, restart the laptop.

2 it can also be a value to uninstall the current driver for Intel Smart technology, restart, then try the version directly from Intel on the link below.

If none of the above suggestions work and if you don't know exactly what changes you made which led to this question, you may want to perform a factory reset and see if that will solve the problem - a guide on the main methods for this are on the link below.

  • Everything on my laptop lost during the night. Seems to be like a new computer with none of my icons, folders, pictures, or whatever it is that I put on here. Don't know what happened! Help, please.

All I can with certainty you know is that I work with this computer laptop 9 Feb and finished updating a blackberry phone while I arrived he began to countdown a restart down to the right and I just let it continue to countdown, as I have before installing updates could.  I sat down and closed the monitor.  No has nothing do with computer laptop lastnight, but turned on tonight and most of my icons were missing.  According to me, the wallpaper is different from the front and I got on the internet as usual without any problem.  When I got off the internet to work with pictures of my newborn (only child), the only icon I had on the desktop is Ebay.  Not as if I had everything set up.  I then went to images and he had only the file sample.  Having felt that I would be sick then tried to look for some other stuff that I had in the records and doesn't seem to be anything anywhere.  Please help if you can.  This laptop is a Dell Studio, which is less than 5 months old.  Please help before my wife kills me for all our photos backup not.

Thanks much for the advice, but I found where some updates have not been filled and after several reboots and updates processing everything on my desk, changed again the way I got it.  In fact, I went to C: users and then myself, then all my documents, pictures, ets. was there, so I later found lastnight it wasn't lost, just moved for some reason any.  I then started to look to check the status of the updates pushed out and there are service packs that has not been installed, so I crossed my fingers and agreed to allow them to install and went to bed.  Now computer seems to be back to my settings.  But thank you very much for answering.  It was the first time that I've already posted a question b/c that I generally find the answers online, but it was getting the best of me.  Probably b/c of the thought of losing all my photos only Childs and thinking of how my wife would react.  Thank God it worked.  Thanks again.

  • Computer laptop Lenovo (T420) fails Hibernate.

    Hello

The laptop computer Lenovo I running an edition 64-bit of Windows 7 SP1 Ent edition and for some reason I can't it hibernates.

When I try to it hibernates, it seems as it passes to the State of hibernation, but when I turn it back, he starts fresh.

I tried to update the BIOS and all device drivers.

What I suspect is that when starting to return, it is not picking up the entry in the BCD for hibernation state and making rather a new beginning.

Any help welcome and thank you in advance.

PS: It's an office job / portable and is part of a domain, and it was an image installation that has been done rather than installing from a DVD. I used to have a Dell with the same OS and it used to Hibernate and so I know with certainty that there is no GP who is disable hibernation.

Hi, I use iTunes 12.3.2.35 on a Windows 7 computer. I don't seem to be able to import files from a CD that contains the files on it as mp3 files. If I start iTunes and then put the CD in, it doesn't appear and I can't drag and drop.

It would not seem like an audio CD, as a drive in this way is a data disc when it contains mp3 files. You would need to access the file menu in iTunes, manage files here. If you manually manage music, you will need to access it as a regular folder on your computer. In iTunes, go to file > add file to library, and select individual files.

  • Message on laptop widows trying to Hibernate

I tried to turn it off, unplug and remove the battery.  Nothing works.  When I plug it back, same message.  Cannot get it to turn on or off.

    Hello

    1. could you give us the exact error message?

    Method 1.
    a. open Power Options in Control Panel. (Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Power Options).
    b. click on the Hibernate tab, uncheck the Enable hibernate support check box and then click on apply.

    Method 2.
Let us check in SafeMode if the problem persists. If the problem is resolved in safe mode that makes a third installed application launches hibernation and we can perform a clean boot to find this application or a program and we can either remove or uninstall and reinstall the application.

    Hi dynamitenews

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop?
    2. what happens when you try to start the computer?

You must have the DVD drive to start the computer using the disk, you cannot use the external hard drive to do the same thing.

Also I suggest you to make sure you have defined the start as CD/DVD-Rom as the first choice option in the BIOS. See below the help link-
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/BIOS-frequently-asked-questions

If nothing is done, then you can contact the manufacturer support for assistance on setting up the correct boot sequence and check.
