I have a laptop HP pavilion dv4-1145go and I would use it in the car on a camping trip. I read online that I should use a converter pure sine to convert dc to ac. I called my local electronics store, and they told me that this filter is built into the power adapter to the pc, so I really didn't need the pure sine wave inverter. Do I need converter pure sine (cheapest is about $100)? Also, how much power to I need to run this laptop? How much is too much? Thank you...
Glad I could help...
As I said I've been using inverters to power when on employment in construction and while camping for quite awhile. Have not been able to get camping for awhile, but had developed an interesting configuration for our favorite campground.
picture a canyon of the small box that opens on a lake and is about 80 feet deep and 150 feet in diameter from the open end. We strings of nylon thread 1/4 inch on the top of the canyon and then use it to shoot and support "zip" (like a lamp cable) cord through the canyon. On this zip line we placed shells. These are very similar to what serve many Christmas tree. They clip on the line and Pierce the insulation to reach the electrical conductors without having to the Strip or cut the line. On these outlets would put us 14w fluorescent bulbs compact and reflectors facing down we have obtained elsewhere.
So as you can see, the installation program only has attracted about 60w but lit the area very well and had the additional advantage of attracting insects on the lights that were well above our heads.
It's just something to keep in mind for you... Even 1 fire pulled up in a tree can give a general lighting for an area and prevent people from stumble in the dark and help attract insects away...
Yes, a converter DC-AC 120w will probably run for you. But in my experience less than 200w inverters are very cheap. The few dollars you save will be spent again when this UPS dies before she really should.
My advice would be to get a 400w inverter as I've described. Check the box to be sure, it comes with the adapter and clips. You can use the lighter in the car where you run the laptop or DVD player and still be well under the limit of 20A of this socket.
'Better' inverters most have a protection mode to not drain the battery of the car down too far. Black & Decker, we're going to make a noise, others might just stop. When you hear the adutiable go alarm and start the car right away. Alarms are not as accurate as we could hope, and also depend on the status of your battery (what age there).
I know, it looks like I give a lot of warnings and a lot of different things to remember, but don't worry. Once you know the limits of your own decision-making power base and keep in you mind will be fine. Especial en route to your destination.
One last thing. I would advise that run you to the auto parts store before you go and pick up a box of fuses. For the type of your car uses to protect the lighter plug and for the type of the inverter to the inside of the plug that goes into the lighter. Unscrew the metal of the cigarette lighter to reveal this fuse and get plug end of identical spare parts.

Use of AL1511b laptop computer screen 5820 T-6401 in Italy. Simple adapter or converter needed? AC adapter / CC seems to be internal. Can I just attach an adapter at the end of the wall to the monitor cord to fit Italian DC connector configuration or do I need a converter between the end of the US AC 3 earth-pin male connector and the Italian DC Jack? Some external adapters have a switch to change from AC to DC and some are just automatic. What is the story here? Any help would be appreciated.
The power adapter in your laptop will automatically convert between 110 V to 240 V automatically. You must just the adapter to connect it to the outlet in Italy. Your monitor should also automatically convert the voltage as well, you need just the adapter to connect it to a power outlet Italian.

adapter power supply for laptop DV6 1230us
Anyone know what the output current should be for a DV6 1230us laptop power adapter?
The original power supply has failed and has been eliminated - now, we tried two adapters purchased off ebay, and both overheated. They were the two 60w and spec'd 3.5 released. They were the two brands not HP.
The specifications are not available on the HP Web site, and it seems that the good spare HP P/N 693711-001.
We would like to undestand if power supply is incorrect and the origin of the problem, or if there is something wrong with the laptop (which continues to work very well...)
It should be at least 65 Watts (18.5V x 3. 5), but you can use a 90w like this template:
The models v and 19v 18.5 seem interchangeable, as long as it's the big gun with the centering on the inside PIN. An adapter low power will heat up.

USB or HDMI Converter for dual Moniters?
I searched for an inexpensive way to set up my second screen before investing in a new video card for an office that is not even a year yet. I wanted to first find a USB VGA Converter, but for some reason the converter, I bought seems not to register. I'm doing something wrong with the adapter? Or should I look for in a converter for HDMI port?

Is that what the AC adapter compatible 40Y7663 for Advanced Minidock 42W4630?
Hello!
I bought a 42W4630 Advanced Minidock used (P/N 42W4631, FRU P/N 42W4630, Type 2504) for my Thinkpad T400 (6474 Type) but there is no 90-W adapter with it. Due to the http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T400-advanced-mini-dock-250410U-POWER-ADAPT... I also ordered a 90W AC adapter 40Y7663.
But I don't know if the ACadapter is compatible with the docking station. I have not found a suitable compatibility list.
You have an idea if the power adapter is compatible for my docking station? What would happen in the worst case?
This adapter works because it's the type of adapter supplied with the advanced mini dock.

Moving to Australia - I need to connect my laptop PC adapter in a Step Down transformer?
I see on the power adapter Input 100-240V, which means it is compatible with the 220-240V Australia? It is a T410 I bought recently. Obviously, I would always need the adapter to convert the pins but a transformer necessary? Thank you
Yes they are cross compatible, you don't need a voltage transformer.
