  There is a label with the serial number, model number and you will of course find the two labels with LAN MAC address and the WLan Mac address.

  Two years ago, I bought a laptop HP for my wife as a gift, that she loved. She used it to its business at home with great success. Unfortunately, last week they broke when we were there and stole her cell phone. The damage was a bit because she believes strongly in backups and had a very recent copy of its business data.   If you have the laptop model # and the serial number, it might be interesting to you to report back to HP stolen.  If you do not have the serial number of the laptop, so I doubt there would be something that HP could do to report this particular stolen laptop.

  First of all - it is unlikely that anyone (thief or innocent victim after the flight) would affect in any way.

  Secondly - has no way to connect than installing Windows.  The laptop came with the edition / version of Windows it has pre-installed on it?  If so, it is unlikely that you were never use the product key you * may * have recorded off the coast of the sticker on the laptop in all cases - declaration of product key for having turned it off would be almost useless (it will probably never be used in reality.)

  In what other way did you think the 'right to use' license you to Windows has been attached to you?  If it came with the computer, he was attached to the computer.  If you have the serial number of the computer and a receipt to link this serial number you - maybe you can prove this system and usage of Windows right is yours - but if windows came pre-installed, your right to use this particular Windows license was related to this specific computer (OEM licenses, etc.)  You can't take this right to use this license anywhere else, even if it was stolen.

  As already indicated, the product key, you may have (unlikely) recorded off the coast of the sticker on the computer was probably not even during use (thanks again to OEM) - there is nothing unique identifying this SPECIFIC "Windows Update" system, where you think to a sort of identification could arrive and disable the said system.  If you have used some product keys finder and saved the key he found, the one you got is probably OEM SLP and they won't turn off thousands of legitmately owned machines for your (really?  a laptop $ 320?  Looks more like a netbook...) a fly.

  • You have the product key Windows off the sticker on the machine?
  • Product key Windows that was used on the machine?
  • The serial number of the machine?

  There is no avenue for reporting stolen license, but you are free to upgrade the new laptop and turn it back on by phone if necessary:

  (4) choose the option "activate phone".

  because the thief has your computer, even if it were possible, they could just use a retreival key utility and retrieve your product key. Also, this sets up a cat and mouse scenarios, because they could easily re-activate the license using phone activation. Your best option is to use the phone activation and explain carefully the situation in the call that your product key agent and the laptop has been compromised. The might be able to do something. If you had used the encryption, your data could be much safer.

  I bought Windows Ulimate and installed on my Macbook Air with VM Ware.  Was working fine until my laptop was stolen.  Then I installed it on my new Macbook Air wiith WM Ware.  But I decided to drop the whole virtual upward and install it in its own partition using Boot Camp.  Now, I can't activate windows because he says I'm over my limit of activations.  And, I tried for hours to get in touch with a real person who can help me - but no luck.  Any suggestions?
