My Mac Pro and HP Deskjet 3070 PowerBook does not connect via a wireless network from dorm

Both my laptop and printer (an all-in-one) are connected to the same wireless network dorm, but they do not connect on it.  They connect only wire using a USB cable.

I have for the MacBook Pro and the Deskjet printer IP addresses but no way to use to establish a connection.  I don't have access to the network router.  When I test the connectivity, the software tells me, "too many networks."  He can't make a choice!

Interestingly, I have my MacBook Air along this journey, too, and the two MacBook have no problem of communication on the same network of dorm.

Is it possible to plug these devices such as computers connect or should I remain attached to the USB cable to use my new printer?  I guess you know how I feel about this.  Thanks for your advice.

You are right.  There is no way to bypass security protected by password and thus to connect a Mac to a Deskjet 3070 via a secure network without access to a router, and a password.  However, even without access to a network or a router, there is a workaround solution.  In my case, where the technical ability to correctly configure the router and the printer is beyond the understanding of the management of the dormitory, qualified through the difference to happen anytime soon, it is the answer I need.

The solution is to build your own Mac + network printer and make it private, protect it against unwanted entry.  This offer you little mobility in the area of the printer, which is much better than nothing.  A sofa can be more conducive to creative thinking as an Office Chair.  The unconventional twist that Johnny introduced the user, the printer that generates the sender-recipient, not the Mac network.  Very smart.

I refer you to the thread,

"Deskjet 3070 cannot connect to the ad - hoc network (Mac)"

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-networking-and-wireless/DeskJet-3070A-cant-connect-to-ad-hoc-network/m-p/1446819#M38598

Then the only question is to know how to connect your Mac on the Deskjet 3070 printer via the generic (as he calls it, "ad hoc") network created by the Deskjet printer.  The Mac has abundant features for this purpose.

Thanks for the categorical assertion, however.  No sense to break down the walls looking for a nonexistent hidden tunnel...!

UPDATE: the below solution worked on my MacBook, both running El Capitan. Ignore the instructions provided in the manual of the P1102W and follow the steps below.

    I have a P1102W printer.

Recently my LaserJet P1102W refuses to connect to networks using WPA Wireless.

As it does not have an IP address, I can't access the web server.

She also does not connect to my Mac Wireless via Bonjour. The printer will install when connected via USB.

I installed printer HP Apple drivers, that contains the P1100 driver.

The P1102W worked before wireless. I only noticed this anomaly since installation El Capitan and moving the printer to another room with my workstation.

I need the printer to use the wireless network, as I did not have enough space on my desk for him. And I just can't place it anywhere within the range of a USB cable.

    Are there alternatives to this?

    Hi @rcosgrove,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I see that you encounter some problems connecting your Laserjet P1102w printer to your network wireless using your Mac computer. I can help you with that.

First of all, I would like to mention that it would be easier to the printer connected to your network using a Windows PC. If you can't borrow or use a Windows PC, the following steps should allow you to connect the printer. If you can borrow a PC, please let me know what version of Windows and I can provide a link to the drivers to configure the printer automatically.

    Preparation of the printer

    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. While the printer is turned off, hold down the two buttons on top of the printer.
    3. Hold the buttons on top of the printer and the printer.
    4. Hold down the maintained for even 10 seconds.

    Wireless printer setting

    1. Make sure that the printer is connected to your Mac via the USB cable.
    2. Click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
    3. Click the icon of your printer on the left.
    4. Click Open print queue, printer installation, utility of printer, open printer and HTML Config utility.
    5. (If the above step generates an error, change your default browser on Safari. Please let me know if you need assistance with that).
    6. In this new window, click on the networking and wireless tab on the left.
    7. Under Mode of Communication, select Infrastructure.
    8. Select your network from the list and then click on the button with the arrows.
    9. Under Security Mode, select WPA/WPA 2. If you have an old router, you may need to select WEP instead.
    10. Enter your password wireless in the field below.
    11. Click on apply.

Now, wait a few minutes. Your printer must change to have a solid blue light. If it is not the case, either the password has been entered incorrectly or there is a setting on the router that the printer is having a resolution of the issue. Please let me know if this is the case.

Once you have a solid blue light:

    1. Unplug the USB cable.
    2. Return to the printers and Scanners.
    3. Hold down the CTRL key and click the icon of the printer on the left.
    4. Click on reset printing system.
    5. Click on the button "+" in the lower left corner.
    6. In this window, select your printer in the list.
    7. Click in the box next to and select your printer from the list.
    8. Click on Add.

Please let me know if you are able of print or the results after following the above. If you can print, click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • DeskJet 3050 a will not connect to my wireless network

I absoulutely can't get my Deskjet 3050 has to connect to my home wifi connection.  It is a Motorola modem/router (wireless) model SBG6580.

I went through the doctor for help (don't show me the wireless information.  The button did not work.  I tried to use my home password and id, but it does not work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To connect to the printer Deskjet 3050 to a wireless network, you will need to temporarily connect to the computer with a USB cable. I'll link the instructions detailed below. If this does not work, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.

  • I just got a new modem (Arris SB6190) and now my Airport Extreme does not connect.  It worked fine with the previous modem (a rented one TWC).  Help!

I just got a new modem (Arris SB6190) and now my Airport Extreme does not connect.  It worked fine with the previous modem (a rented one TWC).  Help!

Always recommended to reset the airport back to settings by default and then set up again whenever you have a new modem or change your Internet Service provider.

Turn off the new modem for at least 30 minutes. More is better.

Perform a hard reset on the AirPort Extreme, then it turned off.

Make sure that the Ethernet cable connects the modem to the "O" on the AirPort Extreme WAN port

After the power of the modem 30 minutes down, turn on the modem and let it run for at least 5 minutes by itself.

Then, turn on the airport and let it run a few minutes

    Set up AirPort Extreme again

Important note... There are many reports of problems with the modem Arris SB and airports. Both are great products, but they do seem to work perfectly together for some users.

  • Satellite Pro c660 does not connect to another wireless after format

    Hey all,.

I have a Satellite Pro c660 and bought a copy of windows 64 bit with him - the laptop come with many software from toshiba on what I wanted really, I therefore installed windows 64 bit (fitness in the process).

After the Installation I had some problems connecting to my wireless home (he was missing drivers, but have now install) but finally got it works.

After having taken it round my friends last night, I could not connect to its wireless - the password has been good and I could see the network, but he just kept constantly defect - its network was on it, because his cell phone he was performing. -The only difference between its network and the spirit (that I can see), it's that she was using the TKIP encryption to connect, while I was using AES (my network card is Atheros). -Even when I tried to configure a network profile and have it automatically connect (using the same information she used, including the TKIP encryption) - it was always not.

The ideas people? More missing drivers?

PS - I really don't want all that toshiba nanny software on the laptop.

    Thanks in advance!

    > Any ideas people? More missing drivers?

If you can see the Wlan network then it means that the WiFi adapter driver is correctly installed and the problem is between the router configuration problems WiFi and wireless network card.

Are you abele to connect to other networks wireless at home?

Please disable encryption settings in the Wlan router and try to connect to the Wlan that is unprotected.
But note; This must be done only for testing purposes!

You should also check if the MAC address filtering is disabled in the settings of the router.

  • HP Deskjet 3055 A does not connect to the WIFI with security

I'm trying to configure a Deskjet 3055 A on my DD - WRT router.  I am a highly qualified network engineer, so I don't know 100% what I'm doing.

First, DD - WRT supports WPS connection, because these are very precarious.  This means that my only way to connect the pritner to my home network is to connect to my PC and use the Setup utility (downloaded from your page drivers) I use the 28.8 version.

My router supports the 2.4 and 5 GHz and I know the printer is only 2.4 GHz.  I disabled completely the 5 GHz network in order to connect the printer, even though it shouldn't have any effect.

I restarted my router and reset the printers wireless network using its integrated control panel.

In any case, after a shameful 2 hours troubleshooting, I did discover that the printer WILL NOT CONNECT to the WIFI network if any security is applied against it.  It works 100% fine with open security however, it is totally unacceptable.

I tried both WPA Personal and WPA2 Personal, both with the same effect.

For reasons to try, I added also the printer to my network WIFI open and tried to manually change the setting WIFI via webinterface of printers, however, whenever I try and access the wireless configuration wizard, I simply get an error message saying "Internal system error" - eventually I managed to work around this another bug that has been there for years (see http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Internal-System-Error-prevents-access-t...

After installing printers web interface WIFI, the problem is always the same and it does not connect.

HP, we were in the order of 2500 of these printers for users of our remote site.  If you don't come to the top with a quick solution/bug fixed, consider the lost business!

    Concerning

    Ian

After playing well, I managed to find a solution for this!

For all users who are unable to find a solution by using the other methods, here's what to do.

Change your local network to open the safe but note your WIFI settings for your default installation.

Connect the printer to the open network the HP software (via USB cable)

Go to the URL of the printer, but make sure that you connect through HTTPS - if you get an internal system error, keep refreshing until it works (WHAT A JOKE!)

Click on 'Network', then click 'Advanced' on the left.

Enter the network settings as they need to be secured.

Downstairs, check "in an infrastructure network, use 802. 11b / g behavior (assuming that your assisted supports g, otherwise use the b only option), then click on apply.

Turn on your wireless security, on your router and then the printer should connect!

I am really confused as to why this is not automatically enabled, if the printer is not working with security on a Wireless N network wireless, then have this as the default!

HP - feel free to thank me in this post!

  • Ink advantage 2545: changed the name of the wireless router and now ink advantage 2545 does not connect and I'm out of ideas

    I have a Toshiba laptop 64 bit running Windows 10 Home, 8 GB, 1 t hard drive.

Router is a Samsung phone using Android because it was the only router that I could find which would take the wireless signal.

I live very pastoral, no neighbours for miles, so I never saw the need for a password on my router.

Now, some people are installs in less than 400 feet from me, and I think they're piggybacking on my Wifi because my access speed has slowed considerably since they moved in.

So I decided to change the password of the router, unfortunately, I can not put in any password I want.  It gives me the opportunity to have a predefined password.  So I changed the name of the router I could do without problem.

My computer very quickly without any problem, however, my printer which worked great for a year with the old router name does not connect on the new name of the router.

    Here is what I tried:

I had hoped he would ask me for a new name / password, but it did not.

Then I plugged a cable between the printer and the laptop in the hopes that it would produce a different kind of results.  It has not changed anything.  There is no screen menu on what that be like this on the printer.

I pressed the wireless button that has the flashing blue light and nothing happened.

I pressed the button, don't know what it is, but it has a white light, and nothing happened.

I went on the HP site and followed the instructions but he just said do not connect the cable until told to do so.  So I disconnected everything, lights out and turned back on and still no connection and no invite to plug whatever it is.

Y at - it everywhere where I have being a novice could get instructions on how to get this working?

I appreciate any help you can give me.  Thank you.

  • HP Deskjet 2540: Printer does not connect

Hello! I managed to connect my printer via the cord, but all my efforts to connect wireless have not been successful, even after you install the drivers appropriate for Windows 10. It seems to connect and to detect the router but when it promts me to enter information to check the connection, it does not connect. He also promts me to enter the information that is displayed on the printer, but it is not anything related to this wireless network. Help, please!

Hi @paige101us and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I see that you have connectivity problems.  I would like to help!

I would recommend your computer off.  Once the computer is down, unplug the power cord from the printer and the electrical outlet and remove the power of your router for 60 seconds.

After 60 seconds, reconnect the router.  Once the router has started broadcasting, reconnect the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

After that the printer is turned on, run the wireless configuration.

  • OfficeJet 7410 does not connect via WiFi and will not scan

I don't know if this post is in the right place, but here goes:

I have a 7410 OfficeJet that was connected to my home network so that I could print/scanning wireless to it from any computer in the House.  It worked well for a while.  I am running Windows XP SP 3.

We lost power for a few days during the hurricane (Fortunately it was our one central issue), and when the power was restored the 7410 wouldn't connect to the wireless network (we have FiOS).  I checked the unit identifies the correct system ID (and I entered the WEP key), but when I try to install from the desktop computer, it can not find the 7410 (laptop computer also was not able to find the 7410).  The only way I could get the desktop to detect the 7410 is to connect it to the router with an ethernet cable (it does not work with the laptop).  I also can't connect to the wireless printer if I put the IP address in my browser (I'm able to do when it's connected via ethernet).  Not sure if it is a firewall issue.

When the 7410 is connected to the router with the ethernet cable, I could print to it without any problems.  However, I can't scan from it.  When I try to scan, I get the error message "when trying to scan, could not find the required user interface file (Please reinstall scanning software).  I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software, but I still get this message.  I also followed the instructions here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00516936 but that has not solved the problem.

This morning, I uninstalled the printer with the hope that, put it back in place could solve the problem of scanning, but now the computer is not able to find the printer, even if it is connected by ethernet.

I hope I gave enough information.  Ideas/comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

I think I see what's happening. You just need to reestablish the connection to the printer wireless. The document below should help you with that. Once you have done so, the software shouldn't have a problem connecting to the wireless printer.
