My MacBook is about 10 years old and saw some technical problems - should I get a new one?

Problems include:

-a noisy fan

-occasional problems to wake up after sleeping for a while.

-a little bit broken DVD player (will not play DVD sometimes, even if there is no scratches, dust or residue on them)

-(recently) began to have the occasional problem with the keyboard (tried typing ":" but ended up with "-", problem is gone its own).

Information (via 'about of this Mac'):

-2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (processor)

-4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 (memory)

-OS X Version 10.6.8

Thanks for all the tips you guys have to offer

Your MacBook is maybe not as old as you think. The only MacBook with 2.4 GHz processor was the MacBook Mid-2010 7.1. Maybe you have a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air?

In all cases, the answer to your question won't be definitive. You use the DVD player a lot? Can you get along without him, or is it a must have? Problems with your fans, sleep, and the keyboard may be repairable, but could also be more expensive that the computer is useful.

Look at new books in the Apple Store online or visit on the Apple store nearest to check out them in person.

Good luck with your decision.
