My MacBook (retina, 12 inches, beginning 2016) very hot

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this. MacBook on all day at work plugged is working properly, attached to the iPhone 5. I do not turn off because as usual it is on after an hour at home. Just opened the cover and nothing happened – dead, very, very hot MacBook. It's in an incase cover which I removed and after 10 minutes of waiting and holding down the power button for 10 seconds, it has started again.

I have a MacBook Air 2012 who was always in a case and never had this problem before - it is due to cover or is something else wrong?

Thank you

Alex

The MacBook Air has a cooling fan and vents. The MacBook has no fan or vents. It cools by conduction to the background skin. Then, if it is then running in a case, which would interfere with cooling.

It is possible that it was not in mode "sleep" while the lid is closed. Search with the process activity monitor it may have kept awake.

MacBook Pro (retina, 15 inches, beginning 2013) El Capitan 10.11.3, Simple question here: I can't open FinalCut Express (4, I believe). The wheel turns for hours. How can I install/uninstall and will I lose all my old films (for the most part stored on external hard drives). Thanks for your suggestions.

You will not lose anything, but the app if you uninstall. If you decide to uninstall use this app to make sure that all the other files which depends on FCE are also deleted however I can't give you any assurance as to whether you will be able to reinstall so that it works correctly. It is a software that has not been supported for almost 5 years and there are conflicting reports as to its compatibility with OS X 10.11. Can't I test it myself.

Maybe someone else will chime in with their own experiences.

  • Screen freezes randomly (Macbook Pro retina 13 inches early 2015)

MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, early 2015)

OS X Version of El Capitan 10.11.4

Processor: Intel Core i5 at 2.9 GHz

    Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Graphics card: Intel Graphics Iris 6100 1536 MB

I bought this MacBook on the Apple store online a year ago, and I must say it has been a very reliable machine up to now. It starts way faster that any laptop I have ever used before.

However, recently to update my OS on the 10.11.4 version, my screen freezes randomly. The keyboard and trackpad are both unresponsive.  Closing the cover does nothing either, since the macbook won't sleep normally as it would be. The only solution I had was to hold down the power button to force it to close.  This has been extremely frustrating and made me lose valuable data too.  I ran the Diagnostics of Apple and the only error seems to be the battery issue. It has been said, however, that it should not affect the performance of the computer.

If someone has encountered this problem, great tips, thank you would be much appreciated!

Hey, I bought the same macbook 6 months ago, the macbook had several recurring problems, graphic and audio glitches, what happened was, sometimes (for watching movies, or playing games) the screen went black with a red line on the left side of the screen, then after 2-3 seconds screen is returned to normal, and then there was a glitch-audio distortion that attaches after 10 seconds - 1 min.

I have tried to solve this problem, because to the 4months, 2 authorized repair shops are rendered as well an apple store, they told me that the tests have said everything was perfect, they failed to reproduce this problem, and that is probably a software problem, it wasn't, because I did everything to eliminate the risk that this was a clean install os software problem to use different browsers, readers different flash etc.

About a month and a half my macbook froze for the first time exactly like yours, frozen screen, slider became unresponsive, caps lock light insensitive, trackpad locked (didn t click), closing the screen was always on the apple logo. I did exactly what you were doing, forced to shutdown by pressing the power button.

I was furious, thinking that this is an escalation of the hardware failure and he was in awe of this next step is to "die".

The next time he "froze" again, I went to the apple store nearby with the macbook in a frozen state and demanded that they fix it, I insisted the guy writes it down and describe the exact condition of the macbook was when I took it to them, and he said that they will run tests and see When I tell him that it is the "millionth" time test you my macbook, he said, that even if the tests show nothing they will replace the logic board, we signed a "service record" who says that they will replace the logic board and the battery and for the first time that I was happy they will finally fix.

I was wrong, they called me a week later and say we took some tests and everything is ok, it was the last straw, I did not pick up the macbook and said that I will not pick up unless they fix it.

Next day I went to the store and made a big fuzz, saying: I have contacted the Ombudsman, and I'll still take legal action if they didn't fixed it the next day.

Next day I went and they had replaced the logic board so the top-case with battery.

The reason I say this is, their support at least in my case, it was terrible to the point that I preferred to throw the macbook in the trash and never look back, you can't really imagine how long it took me to convince to repair or replace, for 4months I was on the phone or online chat and was flowing like a ball from one to the other.

If you are still under warranty, go directly to the apple store and request a fix, when I say request, do not be polite, don't bite on phrases like "we will do everything, so you won't have to come back again," go aggressive mode, because at least in my case, be polite did not help, the best thing would be, when it freezes again not turn off it take it straight to the apple store.

Another thing is, I had a battery problem when running the diagnostics, whenever I gave it to them they said oh "battery is ok, sometimes the tests fail," my argument? If the tests fail how do you rely on them...

Go and demand, it is their responsibility to fix, 3 and a half months being polite is not done, I'm aggressive and stares at me in 1 week.

    Good luck

  • MacBook retina cannot find the USB hard drive when it is plugged again

    Hello world

I have a MacBook retina 2015 computers and a hard drive WD elements USB3 that I use as a Time Machine backup when they travel. The drive is plugged into the USB - C through one of the Apple dongles and when I first start the computer, the USB is mounted and that it appears on the desktop. He does everything very well.

When I want to take the machine away, I eject it, wait for the secure message and then physically disconnect the drive. However, when I go back and reconnect the drive, the Mac did not see it. The reader will be able as the light comes on and I can hear it turn. Just, it is not mount and is completely invisible for MacOS.

I checked all connections, even used another dongle - no luck. A disconnect does not set, and I tried to reset the NVRAM. So far, the only solution is to reboot the Mac, afterwards the player reappears - at least until I need to unplug it again.

Anyone got any ideas what is underway and if there is a fix?

    Thank you very much

    Mike.

    Hello, Mike Richards2,.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

This is I think understand that you are not able to see an external hard drive when it is ejected, and then reconnect the computer.  I have some suggestions that I hope will help you.

It is important to try to isolate what is responsible for this.  The first thing to do to help isolate what is causing the problem is to start the computer in what is called Safe Mode and see if the problem persists.

    Start in safe mode:

    1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.
    2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
    3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.
    4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode

Once the computer is running in safe mode, see if you can duplicate the issue.  If the problem does not appear, go ahead and try to reboot normally again.  If the problem has disappeared, it may have been caused by a problem of file or directory of cache fixed by booting in safe mode.

If the question comes up, you'll want to check the login items.  Follow these instructions to remove the connection:

OS X El Capitan: If you think you have incompatible connection points

Remove the connection, restart the computer and see if the problem persists.

    Have a great day!

  • the space bar is out of use MacBook (retina, 12 ", primo 2015)

The SPACEBAR on my new MacBook (retina, 12 ", primo 2015) is not working properly.

Does anyone have the same problem?

    Is there a quick fix?

    Greetings ThomasGlerup,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

I understand that the SPACEBAR on your new MacBook does not work as expected. We know that situations like this, especially on a new computer, can be frustrating, but we are here to help!

To begin troubleshooting, I would say hollow work the steps in the following article.

If certain keys on your laptop's built-in keyboard do not work

If the keyboard produces only numbers, make sure that seeing the capslock key Num are disabled. Press the NumLock key to turn off his light.

If the NumLock key has an indicator light, press the key and try again the keyboard.

If none of the keys work, your Mac can show a low battery alert that you can not see. Connect your Mac to an electrical outlet, or connect an external keyboard to your Mac to the alert.

If the other keys do not work

You may have accidentally set an option that changes your keyboard works.

Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Dictation & speech, and then click Text to Speech. If "Text Speak selected when you press the button" is selected, deselect it or click on change the key to another key.

Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Accessibility, and then click keyboard. Make sure that slow keys is turned off. If slow keys is enabled, you will need to keep a key longer than usually before it is recognized.

Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Accessibility, and then click mouse & Trackpad. Make sure that the mouse keys is turned off. If the mouse keys is enabled, pressing the keys in the numeric keypad moves the pointer instead of entering the numbers.

Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click keyboard, and then click input methods. Select "Show the menu in the menu bar." Open the menu entry, then make sure that the correct keyboard layout is selected.

To display the keyboard layout, click keyboard, and then choose 'see the keyboard, Emoji, & viewers of symbols in the menu bar.

OS X El Capitan: If your keyboard does not work

    Have a great day!

I have read reports on older iPhones running hot because of the processor being exceeded. Might be better if you checked him into an Apple store to be on the safe side.

  • computer is very hot and sometimes even off

I put a gadget to see the use of the proscesor. And even if any application is open, markers told 40% or 30% of procsesor "in use".

my computer is also very hot, it takes like 2 minutes or more in power and they just change the hard drive, because it was boken I don't know how.
Sometimes when the procsersor marker is over 80 and the computer is extremely hot you even stop it, and when I reopen it she says the computer closed to protect the files or it has not been closed properly.
Anyone have the same problem or knows what to do?

On a laptop I find that every 6 months or if dust and lint accumulates and begins to cause a build up of heat.  I usually take a can of compressed gas and make jump through the ventilation ports on the side and bottom.

Also if you have something that is constantly keep your processor busy, you should know what it is and see what you can do about it.  Do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and start the Task Manager.  Click on the processes tab, and then double click on the header of the CPU.  Click on the button below on the left that says: show processes from all users.

Now all running tasks will be shown and sorted in order of CPU usage.  That will tell you what to eat at all cycles.

  • Button "Home" to do very hot

I just installed the Update 9.3.2 the other day and was charging my phone today and noticed that the screen went suddenly dark. I removed the phone charger and tried to turn it on but it won't be the same there are about 25% battery percentage since the last time I put him in charge. I also noticed the home button to get very hot to the touch, and even after an hour, it is still hot as if it was still connected to a power source. I use the apple original charger, and there is no debris on the port of loading. I don't mind that my phone broke, because it still under warranty, but my concern is, that the phone could have overheating during the support period and could have exploded or caused the fire if I didn't notice before going to bed. Everyone has the same problem? Apple please help.

I have an iPhone 6s and was undergoing a similar question yesterday with my phone. I wasn't charging my phone, but it stops and the home button did. I thought it overheated and shut down, but it kept overheating even when it was turned off. I found myself in now the power button and the home button simultaneously until the apple icon appeared (5-10 seconds), and then my phone turned back on and went back to the feature and the normal temperature.
