My new tab page is missing and now when I tap on: newtab in the awesome bar I get a page called subject: topic. Help!

I use to have the grid pinned Web pages, whenever I clicked the X to a new tab page. It has now disappeared. I figured out if I typed about: newtab in the Awesome bar he would restore the page, but not all the time. Now when I tap on: newtab in the awesome bar I get a page called subject: topic... and I don't want that. How can I get my pinned sites on my new tab page?

Open a new window or tab. In the address bar, type Subject: config.
If a warning screen is displayed, press the button to be careful .
That's where Firefox considers the information he should run.
At the top of the screen is a search bar. Enter browser.newtab.url
and press ENTER. browser.newtab.URL
tells Firefox what to show when a new tab is opened.
If you want, right click and select Edit. You can change the setting

topic: Home (Default Firefox homepage),
on: newtab (displays the more visited sites),
Subject: vacuum (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or Subject: page you want.

The same instructions are used to the new setting of the window, classified
browser.startup.homepage.

  • Hello. I installed the latest update of Firefox and when I start a new tab page displays not now my entry from google line.please help.tks

Hello. I installed the latest update of Firefox and when I start a new tab page displays not now my google input line. I use Windows 10. Until the recent update (v4.1.01) each time I started a new tab the new page would show the google search entry line which is my default. Can help you to restore this feature? TKS

Hi, 41 of Firefox, you must use the add-on tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.

Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.

Notice, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.

You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

  • Why my page "New tab" there sites less and less?

Once upon a time, my new tab page shows nine frequently visited sites. Then it became six. Then four. Now, it was only three. I have a screen of 1366 x 768, Holy crap. My screen resolution has not changed. What developers say the point is a "frequently visited sites" screen (or a 'recommended sites' screen) which offers only three choices to the user? I know that the trend in the Tablet-oriented design should include the information less and less utility on the screen at a given time, but I do not use a Tablet, and that is the reason why I do not use a tablet.

It would be difficult to make the number of pages on the new tab screen a modifiable setting?

There are a few versions of the margins was changed, I think, and that can cause a line to disappear from the lower part.

What do you think using zoom to fit more on the page, but with smaller legends? Hold down the CTRL key and tap - once or twice to see if suits you.

Firefox can not remember your zoom level on the new tab page when the preload is enabled. If you find that Firefox will not remember the zoom level, here is how you disable prefetching:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.preload to change its value from true to false

After the change, if you have any 'new tab' pages open, close them and open a new one change, the zoom setting and now we must remember.

If you do not want to reduce the zoom level, the following extension has a rich set of options to the page style: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/

  • If we consider how help topics are listed in the NEW TAB page, it would not sense for her return to the old style, one that was simple and effective

Suck it features 'NEW TAB', to say clearly in computer talk about the terms. With so many people asking how it works or how to get back to the old design, would it be better to compile all the negative comments and confusion on this new format, and reverse back to the old design? As the saying goes... "IF IT ain't BROKE...". DO NOT REPAIR. "I don't even use the NEW TAB page now that I have no desire to understand or read how get my links to be retained and which stored again. A lot of my links aren't there anymore and even visit the sites, is not put these links on the NEW selection TAB page. Honestly this just unwanted thing. Guys we need to stop changing things that work. Sometimes, when a thing is created... you were right the first time. Sorry, but are running out of Internet Explorer. They did not move, but... when they have did... it was just things that need an update or a hotfix.

I also hate the new shit tab in 38.0.5!

Open a new tab if you need with speed, it's much better all you have to do is write about: config newtab in the search box and and delete what has the newtab value, as you can see in the picture, I don't download.

You can zoom the subject: newtab page to resize tiles and tiles most enter on the page.

    • View > Zoom > Zoom out; CTRL and -
'Zoom text only' should not have a tick

This will affect all elements of the page, text so get more smaller institutions.
Make sure that a tab with the subject: newtab page is open when you change the zoom of the page.
Toggle the pref browser.newtab.preload false on the topic: config page in case of problems with remembering the zoom on the page of the on: newtab page.

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • How to ENTER ON the new tab page? Can't seem to make this work. The toggle switch is missing.

The switch to the new tab page is not there in the upper right. Where is he?

If browser.newtab.url has been "grayed out" subject: config it's probably because it's already the default value, which is of about: newtab... so you don't need to reset. Since you have to reset the preference browser.newtabpage.enabled (to true, by default) then the "toggle switch" should appear, as shown here:

If browser.newtabpage.enabled is now fixed to true and that you still don't see the "switch", you can try Search reset the module that will restore the parameter browser.newtab.url (as well as other preferences related to research and the homepage) to the default value.

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/thumbnails-on-new-tab-page-are-missing?e=es & As = AAQ

Hello, sorry for the hurt i read your first post - I thought that even some pages appear. thumbnails also will not work at the moment when the disk cache is enabled (from your system information it seems that it isn't) - Please allow firefox to use at least a small amount of memory cache on the hard disk in preferences > advanced > network and restart the browser, then the thumbnails must regenerate when you visit pages later.

Edit: If the above does not work, enter Subject: config in the address bar of the browser, search for the preference named browser.cache.disk.enable and toggle true by double clicking on it...

  • I've just updated to the latest version and now I can not manually type in the URL. I can't get to a new page if I click on a link.

I've just updated to the latest version of Firefox 32.0.3 today and now I can not manually type in the URL. I can't get to a new page if I click on a link. I had to use - gasp - Chrome just to get to this help page!

    I tried to restart Firefox.
I can type (not a keyboard problem), but the browser never tries to go to URL, when I hit enter

    Any ideas?

Thanks - kept looking around and found a rec to make a reset of Firefox. This seems to have worked.

  • How can I get rid of the annoying new tab page and do it just show me a blank page?

I found a nearly identical to this question thread, but on my firefox, I don't have this icon in the upper right corner that allows me to turn it off. I tried to move the thing About: config, but that did not work because it is still showing me this annoying "new tab page" when I open a new tab. I want to see is a blank page, no search bar, no popular site suggested, nothing. How can I make it back to that? It serves to do but quite recently during an update his collage began this another stupid page on-site and is getting pretty annoying.

It works in safe mode! The new tab page is just empty, as I want... I'll check the Add-ons

  • The new tab page was going well for MONTHS, had an image I have uploaded. Today, I had a 'safe' mode what to be, and my image disappeared. How do I restore, so my image rises?

I had set up my new tab page with an image I have uploaded. It worked fine for months, or even years.

Today, I had a 'crash' that asked me to start Firefox in "safe" mode or "restore". I chose "restore."

On this, my image disappeared from my the new tab page. I can't find how to restore and Add ons that supposedly allow me to add my own image are not useful. At least, I can't understand them.

Can provide you assistance on a computer for Dummies level?

If you deleted the folder "Old data Firefox" you have not the ability to restore your previous profile data.

If it's an image you have stored on your computer, you can open this image in a Firefox tab (Firefox > new tab > open a file).

This will give you the file:// URL in the address bar and you can use a copy and paste this file is enabled in the new tab page.

You can set the browser.newtab.url pref on the topic: config page and set the value of this pref on this URL for you the new tab page.

You can open the topic: config page via the bar addresses as you open a web page.

  • "New Tab Page" he says show all bookmarks, then "drag a bookmark to the page new tab." but there is no section called that, and I can't change my tabs

the instructions are clear, as there is no section in the bookmark page called new tab but when I click individually their I can't find a list of what my Quick tabs are currently I can't change them.
It seems that the browser does not work properly because the instructions are so simple.

Hi Batjutsu, the article above did help?

It is perhaps not obvious, according to the illustrations that are has two separate windows that are displayed: the Library dialog box (opened with bookmarks > show all bookmarks) and open a new tab in a window by using the following:

    • CTRL + t
    • The button '+' on the tab bar
    • the orange Firefox button (or file menu) > new tab

With both open and not maximized, you can drag and drop bookmarks to the new tab page.

  • My 'new tab' button is missing, it is not among the others in the "Customize" menu Is it possible to bring him back next page arrows?

I mean, I'm using the same version of Firefox on a similar to cpmputer, and I do not have the "new tab" aviable.

I know there are other ways to open a new tab, but really I preffer it.

I tried everything, but I'm stuck. Help appreciated.

    Thank you.

You can find the button new tab showing as a '+' on the tab bar.

You can open the Customize and drag the new tab, button of the toolbar tabs on another toolbar and it will become a regular tools like the new button bar button tab you have in versions of Firefox 3.

If you would like the button tab at the right end of the tab bar then put a hose to the left of it.
