    All of a sudden today Thunderbird requires that I got my password by e-mail before it can connect and send an email. I checked the "Remember password" box and restarted Thunderbird, but again, it will ask for the password. I checked in the security settings to display the password and my password is there, but for some reason any Thunderbird just decided not to use the information that it holds. I have run Windows 8 and haven't added any new software or updates in addition to the automatic antivirus updates done. Is it possible to get Thunderbird to go back to the way it was and does not require a password every time I restart it. I have no interest in creating a master password.     The Delete method and to return the password usually fixes the problem, but discussions mentioned above deals with situations more "disastrous."

    This might be different by user according to this email account you hace (outlook, gmail, yahoo, aol, mail.com, etc.)

    So, if this "bug" is, why Apple not default settings so that you just need to update once in a single field, which then applies to OUTGOING and INCOMING MAIL SERVERS? Or have a checkbox indicating "Please apply password for entrants and mail servers outgoing" which is checked by default. If some people (which I think would be a very small minority) need configure different passwords for each, they should still be able to do so as the two fields are available at the entrance.

    As said, it's different servers, the incoming (pop3) and the outgoing (smtp) server that may have different passwords. It's also in the mail from MAC, there are two fields for pop accounts

    I understand that you have recently changed the password for your Yahoo account and need to update. To do this, go to System Preferences > Internet accounts. This will allow you to change this information, and it will update this Mail and other applications that use this account. Take a look at the article below for more information.   • Cannot update password Gmail in Mail

    I've updated the password of my Google account, and now Mail cannot connect to my Gmail account, which it has been connected successfully to until this change.   But the accounts, or in the System Prefs Panel, doesn't have a place to enter the password updated?   Any ideas?

    I'm having a very similar problem. I use the latest version of OS X El Capitan (10.11.3) and Apple Mail Version 9.2 (3112). Today, I decided to turn on audit on my Google account 2-step. After him, the lightning bolt symbol displayed next to the mailbox gmail in Apple Mail. It was expected since I had not yet implemented a password App for use with validation in 2 steps. I set up the App password and received a new password to enter in Apple Mail. Contrary to the instructions, there is no place to put a password in Apple Mail, under Mail > Preferences > 'my Gmail account. I turned off since 2-stage of verification, but the lightning bolt symbol always next to the mailbox (and I'm no longer mail).

    NOTE: My gmail in Mail account was fine before allowing them to work and then turn off the 2 steps of verification. I have never changed my gmail password in Mail and my gmail password still works by connecting to gmail in Safari.

    I tried recording on my Mac several times and restart the job, but the symbol is still not go far. As well as the lightning bolt symbol, in the upper right corner of the Mail window there is an error 'failed to connect '. I find it very interesting that I have no popups invites me to the account (couldn't connect/enter password/etc).

    In Mail, I opened the window > connection doctor and there are red circles next to gmail has IMAP and SMTP, account types which indicates that these account could not connect. The following error message is listed next to each account: "try to connect to the IMAP/SMTP account failed. Verify that the user name and password are correct. "I clicked on"Check again"and has not changed.

    I also checked to see if I could enter my password under Internet accounts system preferences > 'My Gmail account' but there is no place for a password.

    Ready to everything to solve this problem, I've referenced this threadand then open Keychain and remove passwords imap and smtp for gmail account, thinking that I would be invited my password when I tried to put the account in the mail online. However, everything remains the same. I searched Google and can't seem to find a thread that deals with what it is about that.

    In OSX El Capitan.  It does not accept my username and password for the mail.  Have not changed and they work very well in other apple applications that have the same user name and password.  Anyway to reset the password.  It doesn't give me that option as do most of the other programs.

    There is no way to do it.  Contact your ISP and write them.  WinMail also has a bit of a bug and if you set the wrong values it will be you bug without end, then go to tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties and set them there and not when it prompts you.  Sometimes also the ISP service will work intermittently, and they generate the problem.  But the idea of "password" is so nobody else knows what it is, and so there is no way to determine what your password if you forget it.

    It's in the privacy of having the username and password of someone, but it is advisable to monitor the activity of your child on the internet. In Windows Vista, you have the parental control feature in Control Panel (it's available in some editions). I suggest to go Control Panel and user account and chose to activate and follow your child's account. For Parental control in Windows Vista, take a look on:
