My Pavilion dv6 upgraded to windows 10 what happened to my external screen does not

Hi @Jake08,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and questions with external screen works not properly. You can try this without the connected external monitor.

In Device Manager, click the arrow next to display adapters to expand this category
Right-click on the graph, and then select Update driver software if more than 1 graphic adapter do 1 at a time.
Select search automatically for updated driver software.

The laptop must find and automatically install the updated driver
Once the installation is complete, restart your laptop.

You can try to use the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix updates that do not come through Windows 10.  Please restart the laptop twice to make sure that all updates are completed!

Please let me know how it goes.

Thank you.

When I click and drag a window to move its location on the screen does not move properly. It leaves a "track" of windows. Whatever the problem is scroll is also affected when the page moves in waves. Why he started to do this, and if someone can offer a solution? Thank you!

    original title: "leakage" of windows

It is a common problem with how XP displays the items on your screen. When things get a bit bogged down, you'll start to see trails of the window as you drag. Unfortunately, there is no solution, but future versions of Windows do not have this problem with a new rendering of the graphics system.

  • Windows 8 update, remove programs and touch screen does not

With the help of Windows 8 and a few apps would stop working and go back to the start screen. So I ran the "Refresh your PC w/o affecting Files. He removed most of my programs (Norton, Microsoft Office, among others) and now my PC HP TouchSmart 320, touch screen does not work. How can I recover my programs and get the touch screen to respond as before I 'Refresh '?

HP may not have a driver Windows 8.  In general, manufacturers like HP allow the upgrade (and cancel you guaranteed if you do).  They want you to buy new hardware.

You might be able to install the driver by right clicking on the installer, and then select Properties. On the Compatibility tab, change its operation under Windows 7.  This tent to fool the installer in the work.

It worked for my graphics card, the latest version of it was for Vista (my computer came with Vista), but I was able to continue to use this graphics 7 and 8.  Your results may vary if it depends on how HP built their driver.

  • After the upgrade to Windows 8, "Life of Kanvus 106 graphics tablet" does not work in Windows 8.

Original title: Life Kanvus 106 Graphics Tablet & Windows 8

My Tablet worked fine on two screens under Windows 7 64-bit and upgrade to Windows 8 showed not as incompatible on the implementation of control.

The manufacturer (Kanvus) says he didn't intend to write Windows 8 drivers for this product.

Just wondering if there was a solution to this...

    Thank you

I just the Kanvus artist 127 and I had the same problem.

After a bit of diagnostics and Googling a bit, I managed to solve the problem by installing the drivers of Genius.
    • In Device Manager, view by connection and find the USB device.
    • Right click and select Properties
    • Under details, select hardware ID from the dropdown property.
    • Look for the first part of the ID (right click and copy). Mine is USB\VID_172F & PID_0500
    • You should find a device that matches.
    • I found most of the devices Kanvus is also obtained by genius.
    • You can try to go directly to http://www.geniusnet.com/wSite/lp?ctNode=174&CtUnit=156&BaseDSD=10&mp=1 and look around. The devices look pretty similar, just different colors.
    • Most of the devices have drivers Windows 8 produced by genius and they work wonderfully for me. All features are supported, as well as a few that Kanvus didn't.

My unit is the equivalent of G - Pen M712X. The device ID's match so that the drivers install without any problems.

Don't forget to uninstall the existing drivers. I would suggest disconnect your Tablet once drivers are uninstalled and viewing devices hidden in Device Manager, and then deleting the remains.
Once you're done, install the drivers of genius as usual by installing everything first and then connect the tablet.
If all goes well, you should be running.
The drivers work fine for everything I tried so far, including Photoshop and GIMP.

I bought the full version of Windows 10 House because I want to keep my factory installed Win 8.1 x 64 and dual boot with the new OS.

Installation went without problems - on a partition separated after the reduction of the C: partition by default, but when I restart my PC, start menu does not always appear for make me decide which system to choose and the computer boots directly to Windows 8.1.  I even turned off "time to display list of operating systems" when Windows 10 is selected by default OS, but when I turn off my PC for a short period and put back on, I am greeted by Windows 8.1

    Hello

Thank you for posting this and for letting me know it now works for you (which is acceptable to you).

In fact, what you describe above is not a bug, but it should. This is because Microsoft has changed a bit the boot process and the stop function since Win 8 (which means Windows 8, 8.1 and now 10). Instead of the stop full as in Windows XP, Vista, 7, Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 (when he is chosen to turn off) will stop, but closing them is a kind of hibarnation. For this reason, what describe you above is going on (he begins the latest OS because it was really completely out).  Full done restart restarts and it meets the place where the OS is selected.

This mode ensures a faster start-up (on cause of so-called half restart).

A workaround for this (works on Win 8, 8.1 and should also work on Win 10):

  • Windows 7 Ultimate lights up and the screen does not display on my screen

    The title says it all.

    Hi Brandon,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

It is regrettable that the PC does not turn on and I'll be happy to answer your query. Let me ask you a few questions to help you accordingly.

    • What is the brand and model of the computer?
    • Remember to no particular change in the computer before the show?
    • When was the last time you were able to use the PC?
    • Do you have Windows 7 repair disc?
    • Do you have connected an external device to the computer (except keyboard and mouse)?
    • When you try to start, you are able to display the logo of the manufacturer?
    • You are able to start the computer in safe mode?

There could be several reasons according to the questionnaire above for this issue, including hardware as well. Hardware and software configurations can vary considerably, there are several ways that you can take to solve problems that might prevent Windows to start (boot) correctly.

I ask you to follow the steps described in the article below:

What to do if Windows does not start correctly (information valid for Windows 7)

Notes: Please, don't try installing and reinstalling Windows section from now.

Important: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed after this date are deleted.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • HP Pavilion M6 - 1068ca: upgrade to windows 10 - what happened to my package of free RESUME software

After the upgrade of the Windsows 7-10 of Windows, I lost all the HP and utility programs and free software provided with my laptop such as Cyberlink, Adobe Photoshop, etc, how do I recover them?

    @grolou,

My "simplistic" solution was not so much a solution, but to verify that you had done the upgrade properly. The software you describe has been a part of your installed operating system of origin image. The process of upgrading Windows 10 according to the description will retain most of the applications, unless they are incompatible or would impede the actual upgrade process. Applications that do not give or have been removed from the process, or will no longer function will need to be reinstalled, probably with a compatible version, if it is available.

  • Touch screen does not work after Windows 8.1 upgading

I upgraded my HP TouchSmart tm2 notebook Windows 8 tot Windows 8.1. Now my touch screen does not work, when I touch an app. Also my touchpad do not work. There is no problem when I we an external monitor (without touch screen). I received a message that Assistant HP app is not compatible with Windows 8.1. How to solve this problem?

Unfortunately, there is no support for the applications of the touchscreen or devices to your laptop under Windows 8 or 8.1

    operating systems.

  • Pavilion dv6: cannot get Windows 10 to work for more than a few days before video fails

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with two graphics cards (Mobile Intel (r) Graphics and Raedon (TM) HD 6490 M). I installed the new Windows 10 twice and had a lot of success for about three or four days, then the display did not work. I was able both to restore Windows 7 but I want to take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10. Does anyone know of an incompatibility with my HP Pavilion dv6 and 10 Windows?

It could be windows update tries to give you updates of adapter bad display every time. You have updated automatically whenever you install windows 10? If so, update the manual and ignore all updates that show the AMD, ATI and INTEL. I had the same problem but not with windows 10, I had it on windows 7 and 8.1 with the same computer, I didn't go to http://support.amd.com/en-us/download . Then select the automatically detect and install download and run it. If the screen turns off right after finished installing your drivers, then it must be the war video card causing problems.

Maybe it's your video drivers are fighting eachother for domination, when the screen messes up, try to hook up an external monitor, if your computer has an additional port. Let us know.
