My ProBook s 4710 unrecognized Transcend Expresscard adapter

Do not expect a magic bullet that solves everything.

This is the troubleshooting by proxy. That's how a forum works.

We do not have our hands on any device that is not working as it is supposed that it should. We rely on you to test things as we suggest and use your own intelligence. Something that we may clarify the problem in your mind and you can fix it by yourself.

The upgrade to Windows 7 will not solve the problem. Try to fix the problem in the operating system that is installed first.

I suggest that you borrow a different expresscard adapter to see if the problem is with your operating system or your laptop. If the adapter is still not recognized, then you proceed to the next step.

Go into the BIOS and enable the ExpressCard location. (See the image below)

That should make a big difference. It is no doubt currently disabled.

Best regards
ERICO

  • Thunderbolt ExpressCard adapter for ExpressCard-8360 card

    Hello

ExpressCard card slots become rare on laptops these days... so I was thinking about an option of plan B... like having to assume OR have nothing until their marketing announce something exists (which is fair enough on R & D / Marketing / strategic plans etc.)

If someone has already tried a bolt of lightning to ExpressCard adapter for example https://secure1.sonnettech.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_140&products_id=483&osCsid=4fcf0e26d322d5b...

    More info here: http://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoexpresscard34thunderbolt.html

The price seems resonable too at $170.

I understand that it does not replicate the PCI Express 2.0 x 1 to 2.5Gbs in contrast to USB adapters discussed in this thread (which of course will not work):

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/PXI/MXI-over-USB-3-0/TD-p/3105557

I don't have a laptop with crush to try myself as its still quite old (4 years) to have ExpressCard.  But I am concered that when I update I will have very limited choices in laptops ExpressCard. It suits me to do development on my laptop and then to the PC to get it into production.

    Concerning

    Nick,

I tried this at some point.  It works at least nominally.  I don't know the nuances with connection hot and things of that sort, but it is quite functional.

  • HP ProBook s 4710: Bluetooth missing on HP ProBook 4710 s (Windows 7 64-bit) - Intel WiFi - Link 5100 AGN

    Hello

    I have a strange problem:

I have two HP ProBook s 4710 here in front of me. The two "seems" to have the same hardware inside (I don't see any difference on the stickers in the back).

I have install both of them with the same USB with Windows 7N 64-bit.

After the installation is complete (no additional driver installed).

    the first bluetooth ProBook has

the second bluetooth ProBook has NO!

I checked the BIOS, every two active a bluetooth settings on both.

    WLAN works on both.

On the first s I can also install the bluetooth drivers latest, on the second, I can't. Always the message occurred ("no device was detected. Make sure that... »).

Device Manager indicates, the two ProBooks Intel WiFi - Link 5100 AGN, the first s also Bluetooth-device listed, the second of not.

What the hell is going on here?

    Hello:

It is very strange because the HP Wireless Assistant software is registered directly on the support page and driver 4710 under the solutions section.

If this is the case, try the latest HP Connection Manager software which does the same thing the software assistant wireless.

Here's the theory behind your dilemma (except radio BT died).

This laptop once had the connection manager (since the software assistant Wireless does not) installed, and you can use this software to individually disable bluetooth or devices rather than using the wireless button wireless.

I guess that for example, turn off the stereo bluetooth with the connection manager to save a small amount of battery power, which increases the time before having to recharge the battery.  But you can still use the wireless.

The hardware button turns both off the coast.

    The big problem is...

If none of these devices are turned off by the wireless assistant or the connection manager software and that you reinstall the operating system or to update or other, wireless or bluetooth devices do not appear in the Manager of devices as if they are dead or don't exist.

And what makes this more puzzled, is that if you check the BIOS, you will see that they are present and active!

The only way to make them work again, is to turn them on by using the Deputy Director or the wireless connection software.

This is why it is absolutely essential to ensure that these devices have been turned on before you reinstall the operating system.

For those people that upgrading to W10, none of these programs work on W10, so if the BT has been disabled, the user must return to W7, activate the bluetooth, uninstall the connection manager or the wireless assistant software, reboot, ensure that the device is always on and then upgrade to W10.

Here is the link to the software of the support page for your laptop connection manager...

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53001-53500/sp53394.exe

If this doesn't work or the other, I suspect that the BT module does not work (all hardware failures).

  • HP Probook s 4710 can't overclock. (Cannot acess BIOS settings)

    Hello! I have a Probook s 4710 with WIndows 7 64 bit.

I tried to overclock, but its seems I can't acess this page of "configuration"... I can just press the F10 key to access the boot menu, then BIOS Setup, where I can just turn on and off certain actions etc... No overclocking it...

    Is - this same overclockable?

Computers business notebooks are not to be overclockable. It is outside the design parameters.

There is no official utilities that will allow you to circumvent the firmware and overclock the CPU, but they will also allow you to destroy your CPU.  Overclocking the timings of memory and systemboard bus primary\secondary and tensions are also not feasible with the official BIOS ROM files.

  • Increase the ram on my Probook s 4710.

I'm looking to upgrade the ram on my Probook s 4710. When I look to the top of the record number VA024PA #ABG it says it can use DDR2 or DDR3. See http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/GetPDF.aspx/c01722937.pdf

    This doesn't sound right. I ran a program called CPU - Z and it says I have 2 x 2048 Mb DDR2 modules installed.

Is it possible to use DDR3 RAM in this notebook?

In addition, why my system properties shows that I have 2.96 GB or RAM?

    Thanking you in advance. John

DDR3 is cheaper and faster, but the modules are different, so they don't go in your laptop. You should be able to run 8 gigs but 4 gig DDR2 modules are always expensive prety and I doubt that the upgrade would do a lot for you. You have 3 gigs usable due to the use of the video and also you probably have a 32-bit operating system. If you were going to try to run 8 GB, you must install 64-bit.

  • HP Probook s 4710 Ram upgrade

Hello I have a proobook Hp s 4710 with win7 ultimate 64 bit and I want to upgrade my Ram.

Currently, according to CPU - z I 2 GB 800 MHz. By searching hp.com and the net I discovered that some 4710 s take other ddr3 and ddr2.

So I chated with an HP expert 2 weeks ago and he said that my laptop run maximum 8 GB at 1333. And I went bought 2x2gb 1333...

When I tried to install that I fell on a DDR2 socket! Obviously, the ddr3 was not appropriate in this medium.

So my question is---> what is happening? Everywhere I look on the Net some say DDR2 and DDR3 of others. How is that possible? The laptop has other modules Drr3 media I did not find?

    My S/N {retired privacy} and P/n is NX629EA #AKD

    Please help because I'm depserate!

    Hello

Thank you very much for the link, I don't really know what is happening here also. It says on page #3 DDR2 but on another page (s) he says DDR3. The manual also shows DDR2 as in my previous post and you have discovered it only supports DDR2. Maybe more later models supported DDR3. Anyway, back to your question, I know Crucial RAM works but don't know others. I'm sorry.

    Kind regards.

  • My ProBook s 4710 will support the installation of Windows 7

I am currently running XP and upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. I understand that I will need to do a clean install, but I wonder if my computer supports Win7Pro?

The computer runs a t6570 Intel Core 2 Duo CPU @ 2.10 GHz (2.09 GHz), 2.99 GB RAM.

    Thank you!!!

  • reformat ProBook s 4710

I did the free upgrade to Office 2007 to Office 2010 and he watered my machine. The registry seems to be totally shot. I had to manually uninstall 2010 and I tried for 4 days to put 2007 on my machine, but only get errors. I don't have my recovery disk and don't think that I want at this stage because I will pick up all the errors that are right now on my laptop. My laptop came with disks, XP, Vista 32 and 64 bit, and then I upgraded to 7-64 bit. Do you think that instead of creating the recovery still disc, I can stick my windows 7 disc in and let to reformat and reinstall? Which will work? I'd rather have a clean install and then do a recovery disk.

    Thank you

You can always try to go back a little further. Check the restore Windows settings, to see where they run.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > protection of the system in the left column. Under available devices highlight one that is turned on. (you can have two if you have two hard drives) Click that and at the top it should are choosing "restore system settings and previous versions of files. I have my slider bar set at 4%. If nothing is selected, then this is another problem. Sometimes, when you install W7 it is simply turned off and I saw this before.

It's a shame that it does not work, and it should have. That's the idea behind it, restoring the system records an image of the non-corrupt registry.

I did a little research on "repair my computer" and it may not be a great help, but check it out somehow. You have really nothing to lose.

  • HP Probook 4710 s sky wireless

I have a brand new HP Probook s 4710 with Windows 7 Professional to work on Friday.

Works wirelessly to the office okay.

Home - have a sky Netgear (think it of a DG843T but not marked and can't see model in the admin page)

My Iphone works wireless on this device, like a Nintendo Wii.

I connect to my WIFI, HP shows connection but never get there. Comes right back as unable to connect.

I check the settings of the adapter on HP - a noted that the that WLAN broadcast set to channel 11 and router on 1 changed wlan to match - still does not.

Then tried to set security to

WEP/WPA Pre Shared Key without joy - I was copying the key in a text file then don't transfer via a USB key so no typos.

Even then I disabled the security on the wireless router and laptop computer still does not connect.

All device drivers are present and functioning.

Anyone who has experienced a similar problem or have some pointers?

    Thank you

    Panic-had another Cup of coffee.

Drivers downloaded again to ensure that the vouchers have been installed (wasn't me that installation OS & drivers so couldn't be 100%)

Set up a connection manually instead of plug and it connected OK? This yesterday, but maybe not to use a WEP 128 bit key, as tried many combinations of things.

Please consider closed topic - can't see a way to remove just the job...

    Thank you

  • ProBook 4710 s & ADI Soundmax driver Windows 7 64 bit

I recently installed a new hard drive in my HP Probook s 4710 and installed a new version of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I'm unable to install the audio driver.  I downloaded the sound driver ADI SoundMax AD1984A for Microsoft Windows 7 sp45115.exe.

However, it will not be installed.  I get the error message is "the audio driver does not support your hardware.

In Device Manager, the driver is Microsoft High Definition Audio Driver 6.1.7600.16385.

Under control panel - sound playback device is Digital Audio HDMI, high definition Audio Device, not connected.  I'm unable to click set up or as a default value

When I place the mouse on the icon of audio bottom left it says that no speakers or headphones are connected.

    Sorry, that didn't work.

I have the Eltebook from HP 6930p with the same audio chip.

You will see that it listed as one of the cell phones taken in charge by the same audio driver.

I have some questions for you to see if we can get the proper functioning.

    1. When you installed first windows 7 without adding any driver, did you have audio?

I did when I installed W7. This is the version without SP1. So, I'd be a little surprised that your laptop uses the same audio chip like mine, than installed W7 without the audio work.

    2. If you have audio after installing W7, you install the following drivers in the generally recommended installation order and restart after each individual installation of the following drivers?

    This order being:

First of all, - Utility Intel Chipset Installation

    Second, - graphics

    Third, - Audio

If you answered no to this question, which might be the cause of the problem.

In this case, my recommendation would be to reinstall W7 and try again using the method described above.

  • Computer laptop "Probook 4710 s' and Windows 8

I have a problem with installing a new Windows 8 OS on a Virtual Machine on my laptop (model Probook s 4710). After a few hours of searching in Internet of my problem solutions, I understand I neet to activate the "NX Bit" indicator (never run) in the BIOS, but I can't find this option here. The basic setup of my laptop as follows: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6570 2.10 GHz 3 Gb DDR. Please tell me if my phone supports this feature. If so, is it possible to turn it on? Or wait for an update of BIOS one driver for my laptop. Thanks in advance for your answer.

This feature is not available in the BIOS via the BIOS updates published for your laptop.  I have not heard of any project to make available.
