My Satellite A60 get "crazy".

Hello everyone
After you have installed Windows XP pro on the same default partition Windows was intalled in, my Satellite A60 began to turn off suddenly after a while, the screen changes to its minimum luminance, so I see nothing unless I move the slider, the carpet * a DVD - RAM drive only recognizes the CD, the computer takes place automatically and when I try to go back to Windows all I get is a black screen , and so on...
So I thoug maybe it's energy-saving settings of the Toshiba on the first installation of windows that has one influence on others its management power settings, so I uninstalled Toshiba Power saver, nothing changed :(
Then I tried to install it on the new windows (sp2 pro) but I got an error that prevents the execution of the program

Someone knows a solution?

Hello

I assume that you have installed your own operating system and not delivered image recovery media. Am I wrong?

Believe me on this path is not easy to say what may be the problem. Is there a message of error before the unit turns off?

By the way: this happens with the recovery image?

    Hello sepilo

As Daniel said already, you can enter the BIOS settings using the ESC key at the beginning upward. You can also start the recovery procedure using key C. place the recovery CD in the DVD device, press the power button / stop and hold C button. After a few seconds, the recovery procedure will start automatically.

  • Satellite A60 - connected to the WIFI but can't get on the WEB

    Hello

I have a really strange problem with my Satellite A60. I have a US robotics wireless router. I can connect with my laptop, in the sense where it says that it acquires an IP address and then he said: it is connected, but then it is not possible to browse the web or access to the router. Let me also point out that:

-The internet connection works fine if I connect the laptop to the router via a cable (for example, I can access the router)
-J' have a second computer that is connected via WIFI to router and it sees no problem (it goes up an adapter for US Robotics)
-WEP encryption is active, but I'm sure that the key is correct. I also try to disable but did not help
-MAC address filtering is enabled, but the laptop WIFI card is in the list. I also tried to disable content filtering, but it did not help
-J' also tried to remove the encryption and MAC address filtering, but it did not help
-In past I could connect to other networks WLAN with my laptop

I hope that I have provided sufficient detail so that someone can try to help me.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello!

I think that the integrated firewall router and dhcp server integrated are the first things to check. May be there are separate configuration for Ethernet and WIFI connections options. Check if your wireless connection is "default gateway" address when the computer shows that it is connected to WIFI. If no default gateway address is then most likely it's dhcp or confiuration problem your router firewall.

  • Satellite A60-142: Tips for the new laptop

    Hi all

I think to buy a new laptop.
I currently have a Satellite A60-142 and I only am not too thrilled about this model since the fan makes me crazy... It is constantly running and compared to my old laptop (Satellite 1410-304), it makes a lot of noise...

So, I want to get a new laptop which is quieter...
I need basically for email/surfing/Online games/digital still camera.

    Thanks for the tips!
    Ellen

    Hi Ellen

Well, it is a known issue that, often, the fan works. If you play games or use other applications, the laptop works at high performance and the parts of the device as the processor or graphics card produce a lot of heat. In this case, aeration run also at high speed. It is a simple fact.
As far as I know, you can try to change the settings of cooling in the power utility.
In addition it is not easy to say which model of laptop runs more quiet. In the notebooks of high performance fans are bigger and louder by contrast office books are ineffective but easier to cool.

It's not easy to make a choice

    Good bye

  • Satellite A60 and energy saving issues

    Hello

I am facing a problem that drives me crazy. After I formatted my laptop and install Windows XP, I'm never able to install Toshiba Power Saver or any kind of Toshiba Utilities. Setup turns on, but after that, it displays an error message (sometimes just sound no message) and it stops.

    To be more precise:

I use a Satellite A60-302, with extra addition of 256 MB of RAM. I formatted the C: partition and installed Windows XP Professional (I tried 3 different versions: right XP, XP with integrated SP1, XP with SP2 integrated; just to be sure if the problem was caused by service packs). Then I inserted the CD provided, put in place the ATI card, etc. its pilots respecting order but when it comes to saving energy, the nightmare starts.

I removed the RAM I added and tried the whole installation by the original Setup process, but no change... My hard drives are well checked for any kind of virus, and the installation process was done with the ethernet cable connected to offshore to prevent any possible intrusion.

Funny, I remember setting up Win XP Pro on this machine before 3 months no problem at all. The only significant change since that day is the update of the BIOS from 1.60 to 1.80.

Looks like a "common modules" error but it is not "common modules", on the CD or on the internet.

Finally, I must say that I can't use my recovery CD because it's Windows XP Home Edition in Turkish, but I use Windows XP Professional English provided by my employer.

Any help? I'll be delightened if someone could help me.

    Hi sunfury,.

I imagine you're nettled. But there must be a solution to your problem.

You are right. There is no common Modules for this machine. Usually the common Modules, all Toshiba tools depend on. It is the main module.

In your case, it is very important to use a specific order of installation. Normally, you must use the order of Installation set by Toshiba. You can find it on
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tools/satellite/SA60/win-XP/install_xp_na_en.zip.

But there is also another solution. I usually install on this path:
    -OS
    -chipset + display driver
    -audio driver
    -fix for... (all)
-one other drivers (modem, LAN etc..)

When you want to install the tools of Toshiba try in this order:
    -Power Sawer
    -Init GST
    -TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility
    -TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility for display
    -Other utilities
    -TOSHIBA Console

If you want to install SP2, maybe it will be better to do it later. It is also possible that some of the tools after installation of SP2 will not function properly.

If you still have problems made me know.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A60: Unable to connect to the internet via a modem - no dial-up

In my Satellite A60, WinXP Home, when I try to connect to the Internet via the modem of Toshiba, I get error 6: handle not valid, and after a few attempts, I get error 50: all devices connected / request not supported.

Device Manager / network / card Asynchronous RAS displays an error (black exclamation point on a yellow background).
The driver is asyncmac.sys = MS Access Remote network serial driver.

    I have:
-tried to uninstall the RAS asynchronous card, but no luck, didn't say it may be necessary to start
    -modem uninstalled / reinstalled
-update of Windows XP through windows update
-update of the bios / modem / network drivers from Toshiba

No luck, the RAS asynchronous card error is still there.

    Any suggestion?
    Thank you
    Alessio - Italy

I think that this problem is Windows XP and map Asynchronous RAS, not the modem.
The modem correctly composed the number, negotiates the user and the password, and then I get error 6 and 50.
On the internet I found this tip for uninstalling and reinstalling the RAS asynchronous card:
    http://forums.practicallynetworked.com/showthread.php?t=6781
I followed the instructions and run RArepair.exe.
It uninstalls and reinstalls the map Asynchronous RAS, but RAS is still in error (the yellow field in the Device Manager).

  • Canoe install audio driver on my old Satellite A60

    Hi all

I have an old laptop Satellite A60, and he had a problem so I formatted and reinstall windows, but I didn't have the original CD of windows came with this laptop so I used another CD that was provided by toshiba (I have another mobile satellite (I don't remember the exact model)). Everything worked fine, most of the toshiba utilities was already installed, but the graphics and audio cards drivers, missing (normal). I went to the toshiba website and download the audio drivers, installed, and when I clicked to restart the computer, after 2-3 seconds, I get a blue screen of death with the error STOP: 0x000008E and a TVS.sys file

So I opened the computer and the driver was still missing. A few times, the driver is there and windows will not open and I have to go into safe mode and uninstall the driver. It's really annoying. I have tried other older versions of realtek AC97 drivers but does not work either. I tried like versions of the original that I downloaded from the official website of toshiba and 3 drivers, nothing works... The graphics card has functioned well tho... but having no sound is annoying...

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Different models of laptops have different hardware platforms and each recovery image is created for some portable model. Maybe this other model has different chipset, GPU, WLAN card, sound card, and so on.
So I m really not ask you got BSOD at the beginning. There must be a conflict (registry entries) driver.

What you can try is to install again and remove almost all the drivers installed and try to install the right drivers for the Toshiba download page in the hope that everything will be OK.
I m not 100% sure, but tvs.sys probably owned audio filter.

  • Toshiba Satellite A60, problem with Pinnacle PCTV USB2

  • Black screen on my satellite A60

Someone help pleae. Downloaded a pack of sevice on my satellite A60 and he did serious damage to a graphics driver... decided to recovery sysem completely... Put the recovery disk in... rebooted, held the key c pressed and nothing happens... it starts up but no display at all... machine very quiet well on... help!

Yes, I had the same thing, but with my satellite P10 (blue one), its still very new and I don't think that the problem was with the battery etc since when I loaded, right after the orange charge turns green after awhile, which indicates its fully charged.

I just played an online game when all of a sudden the laptop instantly closed (it was on the charger ALL the time, but like I said the problem isn't here) then I tried to re - open myh laptop, everything was ok, except the screen, which was black ALL the time, there was no noise which indicated that the laptop did not enter windows.

And as Raym0nd said, my cell phone was a little unusually quiet too...

I hope to get professional help on this. Thank you.

P.S: I realized that, when the laptop is turned off (I played an online game) that the internet connection was not longer working because it has expired. That has affected the laptop, because when you're not online and your game, it closes instantly, the game that is... But I had this situation many times before... Why it is like that now...?

I need help as soon as POSSIBLE... Thank you all very much.

  • Satellite A60 Power Saver error

Hi all, I have a Satellite A60 and I get the following error at startup. "" Power of Eve A fatal error has occurred that program will be terminated code ox2. Several times while it is connected my laptop turns off and to continue I need to connect again from the beginning up to. Can someone please help with a solution. Thank you, Mark.

    Hi Mark

The only thing you can try is to remove the energy saver and try to install it again. It is also possible that it will not help as there are entries in the registry. If there is no problem for you the best way is to reinstall the unit with recovery CD. After that it works again.

In my opinion, it is not easy to repair some specific tools such as energy saving.

  • Satellite A60-wireless network card

Hi I have a psa60e anyone know where I can get a wireless LAN card, in my opinion, he is the one who will go inside because I don't want one of those pcmcia cards that come out of the side

any help would be appreciated as toshiba have already given this model and the web site has going me round in circles for part only

    Hello

for Satellite A60, you can use this map:
    Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card (802. 11 b / g)
    Part No.: PA3300U-1MPC

You can find it on the web page of Toshiba.

    Good bye

  • Replacement of the HDD on the Satellite A60

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The old 30 GB Toshiba HDD (MK3025GAS) died. I bought a 60 GB Toshiba HDD (MK602GAX) as a replacement.

My problem is that I can't get the bios to see the new drive and start with it. "For the old disk bios dead says under ' built in HDD = Primary IDE (1F0H/IRQ14). With the new HARD drive it says "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

Using a cd, I installed Ubuntu on the new HARD drive. The ubuntu installation cd sees the new HARD drive and allows me to format it and install Ubuntu. When the installation is complete, and I try to start Ubuntu, nothing happens, and the menu of the Bios still displays "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

If I run Ubuntu from a cd I can 'explorer' 60 GB HARD drive and see all the installed files of Ubuntu. I can't boot the PC from the HARD disk or just to get the BIOS to recognize his presence.

I'm a bit confused and don't know what to do. Ideas anyone?

For me, this looks like a compatibility issue. Unfortunately there is no public document where we can find info on all compatible disks.
To be honest I m really wondering why the new HARD drive is not recognized correctly. Problem, is that you can not force laptop recognize each RAM or HARD drive.

    What to do now?
I put t think some update of the BIOS will help so I m afraid you must get a new or another HDD and test if it works or not.
I presume that this 60 GB HARD disk was not new, right?

    Hello

I think you should get in touch with an authorized ;) services provider

Here he s a user forum and I think that an ASP can answer this question better. In addition, you can also order new parts.

Here is a list of them:

  • Satellite A60-302: black and white photo on TV

    Help

I have connected my Satellite A60-302 to my TV using brand also SCART S-VIDEO AND TWIN PHONO LICENSE that I bought from maplins. Transfers of image and sound on TV when I press Fn + F5 buttons but the image is in black and white, the sound is ok.

I tried the color on the tv settings but it makes no difference, any help would be appreciated

    Hello

The color on the TV settings won't help. Check please the port on your TV settings. As far as I know by the use of the pot from S-video to TV, it must be enabled properly to get the color. I put t know exactly how it works with cable SCART, but check out several channels if you should enable the option of scanning on your TV.

I also hope that you bought the product of high quality.

  • Satellite A60 - memory increased

My Satellite A60 has 256 MB of memory and is vey slow these days. I removed several applications, but he healed partially the problem. I also defragment the hard drive. Could I need more memory?

Counsel would be appreciated - how get it and install it?

    Hi Charles,

Increasing your RAM will be an improvement, but only with applications that are particularly intensive memory. It is heavy graphics using games and utilities such as photo manipulation, video editing etc.

It is much more likely that your system is hampered by the excessive task that runs after your first commissioning. Check in your task for the background process manager how you running and how much resources they actually are using. For a typical installation of XP, I would expect that there is between 45-50 running processes.

Unless you have already done so I would recommend running a spyware (ADAWARE SE and SPYBOT S & D) utility that can be freely downloaded from the Internet, to see what presents itself.

I see that you have already defragmented your drive hard, which is great, but I highly recommend running the disk cleanup utility as well to get rid of all unnecessary clutter.

With regard to the RAM, I believe that the maximum that you can expand to 1280 Mb is, and I would recommend that you use Toshiba or RAM Kingston modules like these are tested to work with your laptop. I also used the modules of ORCA in my own laptop wuite successfully. Really, the choice is yours.

Information on the replacement of the RAM modules are usually contained in the manual of your users and should also provide details of the procedure to follow.
