My Satellite C855-10Z wouldn't turn on

Hello

I came to the work and my knees don't turn upward. I had left the charger plugged into the wall, but not plugged into the laptop. The laptop ran out of battery during the day because it was not supported. As expected, it won't turn and so I plugged in the charger. A red light nothing happened - flashed temporarily on the laptop when I pressed the button. I tried different Sockets and waited a day, but it still does not work.

What do you think that could be the problem? It's likely the charger or the laptop?

I was looking to buy a replacement AC adapter (input voltage: AC adapter to auto-detection (100/240 V) for worldwide use integer; output voltage: 19 V, output current: 3.42 A) but could not find one online. Some of those recommended for the laptop model I (Toshiba Satellite C855-10Z) or at least that they do not have the same appearance. Those on sale do not seem to have the cable connecting the charger to the socket.

Thank you very much

Susan

Hi Susan
It is not easy to say what the problem is here. Disconnect the power and remove the battery. After doing this press the power for about 20 seconds. Leave the laptop for a while and try to start Notepad using the power supply only.

What happens when you do this?
By the way: is guaranteed still valid?

    What should do?

From my point of few the EPROM module must be re-flashed once more with special BIOS crisis recovery disk.

Usually, this procedure could be done only by authorized service provider available in your country.

But I found an interesting announcement about how to flash the BIOS on U400 series.

  • Upgrading RAM on Satellite C855-10Z to run better games

So, I enjoy playing games, but with only 4 GB of Ram and a card Intel(r) HD Graphics 3000... it becomes difficult.

The maximum amount of RAM my computer can hold is 8 GB. My understanding is that the graphics card I have only has 64 MB of video memory dedicated and then seeps out of the norm of the RAM, so increase the RAM would make the video card better, right?

I'm quite lost on if it works or not, pay £60 for the 8 GB of ram for the video card to just not be able to manage all the games is not worth, so I'd appreciate any help. :)

At first, I must say that your machine is not the best game machine with the best hardware platform (GPU). In my opinion your Satellite C is typical machine of mid range designed for everyday activities.

You're right about the use of the RAM. With more RAM the GPU will be use more memory for video, but you shouldn't expect a few superior graphics performance after upgrade of RAM.

As you have already written your machine can handle with 8 GB of RAM. At the present time, that he should have a good memory on the inside, so I guess that the second memory slot is empty.
Remove the cover and you will see what it looks like as a memory inside. You can add the second 4 GB of RAM, but please use the same memory module with PA3918U-1M4G part number.

  • Satellite C855 1pj begins to turn OFF

    Hello everyone.

First time on the forum hope you can help me

When I'm using the laptop and close the cover to switch to sleep mode. If I open the lid to the top still occasionally he turned off completely and I turn on the computer and it is in safe mode.

    Battery is fully charged
    Thank you

Hi and welcome to our community.

It is not easy to say why this is happening. Before the portable computer in "sleep" mode much different background process must be stopped. We do not know what is the configuration of your operating system, is not easy to tell if certain processes may be responsible for this.

Can you please test with hibernation mode and post comments?
It would be interesting to know if the same problem occurs again.

One last thing: what is this problem occurs on the first day or you have noticed later?

  • Satellite C855-10Z - speakers but no sound with headset

    No sound from headphones.

  • Satellite C855-10Z - keyboard problems

    Hi all

I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem with my keyboard? Basically, I've had this laptop since June 2012 and had no problems with it until I started using Word is not long (I am currently in night school).

In fact, when you type a report, it is as if the keyboard has developed a mind of its own.
The laptop will be randomly copy and paste the last words I typed again and again until I have to stop it by pressing ESC. It's very annoying trying to do any form of work.

Also when you open PowerPoint, the other day, there was a very quick beep as if a key is held down - even though I was not touching the keyboard.

I also noticed the same thing in Windows Explorer, where the address bar scrolled endlessly down as if a person is required to tab or clicking on it very quickly.

Strangely, this problem does not occur in any browser. I have spilled something on the laptop because I got it and have not encountered this problem before.

I've been looking around online and there seems to be several theories as to what might cause this problem:

The trackpad is too sensitive - I've since disabled the trackpad and bought a wireless mouse. This problem did not correct the problem.

Windows 7 itself is the question - I doubt that happens only in certain places.

Toshiba have oversubscribed some buttons with additional features and it is confusing - I tried to disable the keyboard, using an external keyboard, but it does not work either.

The keyboard itself could in fact be broken - do not know how to check this, so I will try to eliminate all other options first.

I've been trying to sort out these issues myself I really don't want to be without my laptop for any period of time.

My next steps, not to mention that speaking to Toshiba, will be to install a new copy of vanilla Windows and/or the new update of the BIOS flash.

I'm about to contact Toshiba to ask their opinion but saw the forum and thought I would try it that I could have an answer and it could help someone else with the same question.

Sorry for the long post, but the details thought could help identify the problem.

Thanks for any help in advance!

It's new model of laptop, so in my opinion, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They should check and find solution.
It is good that you want to exchange experiences on the forum, but I think that you should not waste your time and contact Toshiba as soon as possible.

  • Satellite C855 - low RTC battery

Bought a brand new Satellite C855 7 months, now get a RTC battery low warning, every time I start, have to reset the date and time. The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

    > The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

This means that the main battery is empty and is probably damaged.
Empty main battery would affect the RTC battery too. So I think that you need to replace the main battery first and then the RTC battery for a longer period of time while the mobile computer is turned on.

The laptop seems to be covered by the warranty (if its 7 months) so the battery must be replaced in warranty conditions.

  • Satellite C855 - white screen after BIOS update

    Hello

    I am a beginner user,
    I have Satellite C855
Yesterday, I downloaded a 'update BIOS"that was sent to my computer.
Since that my screen is blank, there is a hum in the background.

I have a recovery back up on my external hard drive, but of course, the screen is blank so I don't know how the product.

I think I must have downloaded a model or the update was not compatible.

    Hello

White screen do you mean that nothing appears on the screen?
You see the start screen of Toshiba, or if you are able to access the BIOS?

Where this is not possible, try this:
Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
Then connect the two parts (batteries and AC adapter) for the laptop and try to turn on the unit.

In case this would not solve the problem of the laptop, I'm scared of m the BIOS update was not completed successfully and I think that only authorized Toshiba service provider would be able to help you.

  • Wireless on Satellite C855 issue

    Hello

I bought new Toshiba Satellite C855-1. but the light for bluetooth is always orange. Means that bluetooth is not functional or something else? I also installed drivers on the computer.

If I use the keys FN + F12 the led turn off, but if I turn it on it is allway orange. Does this mean that it does not work?
Can I send to store, to fix it or what?

    Help please

I ve checked specification for this model of laptop and it was delivered without BONES. I hope that you have installed the OS and all the drivers, tools and utilities correctly.
Do you have problems in general?
In Device Manager all recognized and listed correctly?

Back to your question: the WLAN led is activated when WLAN or BT is in use. I put t know what options are listed when you use FN + F12 but you should be able to use only WLAN, WLAN and BT or disable both devices.

Stack of BT to start you should see also BT icon in the taskbar. It changes color when BT is ON or OFF. Test a little bit to see how it works exactly.

  • Satellite C855 - speakers suddenly stopped working

I have a Satellite C855-1J2 running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium SP1. I turned on December 21, 2012 and installed five applications - the latest versions of Firefox, CeltX, Notepad ++, Open Office and Microsoft Security Essentials (I removed McAfee). I have the latest Windows. Since then I have not installed other applications.

Three days later, my laptop was working fine until, suddenly, that the speakers stopped working. I can identify the specific incident that caused it. I connected a pair of perfectly ordinary headphones using the standard headphone jack, power the laptop off, after that I was done listening but headphones plugged on the left.

When I turned on the laptop back the next day, no sound came in headphones.
When I unplugged them, no sound came from the speakers.
I rebooted my machine and the speakers worked fine.

However, I am now in a situation where whenever I turn on my laptop, the speakers do not work and they will work again when I restart then. A little investigation of this problem shows the following...

Whenever I turn on my laptop and go to control panel-> hardware and sound-> manage Audio devices I see two items:

    (1) ' - high definition Audio Device - speakers not plugged"with a speaker greyed out icon with a red arrow.

    (2) "audio digital (S/PDIF) - high definition Audio Device - default device" with a colored external amplifier icon (it looks a bit like a DVD player) with a green check mark. There is an icon of audio level next to him that shows sound whenever the sound is played on my laptop, but no sound is audible, either through my speakers or headphones.

Whenever I then reboot my laptop and go to control panel-> hardware and sound-> manage Audio devices I can see an article:
"Speakers - Realtek High Definition Audio - Default Device" with a colorful speaker and a green arrow icon. The sound works perfectly well.

I already looked online and the Toshiba forums for a solution to this, but while I found lots of people with similar problems of speaker with Toshiba Satellite laptops, I have not found a solution (and when I say something, I mean something a little more useful that "have you tried completely reinstalling your operating system') so this thread.

Even if a reboot is currently to solve my problem, I obviously shouldn't have to restart my machine at all in order to get something as simple as his, so my questions are:
    (1) what is the cause of this problem - in other words, why what is happening?
    (2) what is the Toshiba solution to this problem?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

It seems to me that the issue you described above that the speakers would not be chosen as device by default, but the Audio Digital (S/PDIF).
Somehow the audio driver cannot detect the first initialization of the system speakers.

I don't know why this happened but I have two proposals:

(* 1) * uninstall the audio driver from the system. Download the driver from his most recent of the Toshiba page and install it after restarting the laptop first.

(* 2) * if installing the audio driver is not enough, the last resort would be the recovery of the system.

(> 2) what is the Toshiba solution to this problem?

  • Satellite C855-2HW guard go to sleep / hibernation

I have a Satellite C855 2HW and it keeps going standby / hibernation.
I put everything as maximum performance and never to Hibernate, but he remains in hibernation.

I do not use the Eco utility (it is off).
My power cable is attached and I have it configured to never blur the screen, never the stop screen and never go to sleep mode.

Even in settings advanced of the I told him never to stop the drive and 'never' for all the options standby. The rest is all about max performance.

I do not understand why it goes into hibernation after a few minutes.
When I play a movie or something on youtube, apparently not go into hibernation.

    Any suggestions what to do?
I've posted it here, because I couldn't find myself and thought that perhaps eco utility is always do something to reverse it?

    Hello

Could you please post information about the system you are using?
Using Win 7 or 8 Win? As far as I know it was pre-installed with Win 8 64 bit. Is this good?
When exactly the laptop going mode sleep?

To my knowledge there are no many options where the Hibernate mode can be configured.
You can set up sleep auto/upgrade the system hibernate mode in Power Options.
    (Win, x key-> power options

This feature automatically stops the system in sleep or Hibernate mode when there is no input or material of access for a specified period.

Also, there is an option called automatic low battery hibernation mode. When the battery is depleted to the point that your laptop operation cannot be continued, the system automatically goes into hibernation mode and turns off.

Finally and above all specific aspects of Power Options containing the Hibernation mode and the mode 'sleep'.

  • Satellite C855-149 - update the display driver

    Hello.

I don't know if it's good advice, but.

I have a Satellite C855-149 and I wanted to know if the drivers are not been day or if im supposed to download them also.

I see that the latest version is from 09/2013, but AMD Web site shows that my graphics card (amd radeon hd m 7610, which is apparently the standard radeon hd 7xxxxm). I reinstall my windows soon, so I just wanted to know.

It is the same for all drivers (as 90% of them are from 09/2013, which seems a bit old).

Is that display drivers update is not offered so often and there is a reason for that. Newer versions offer better performance and it can be quite complicated for mobile machines.
Mobile machines have some cooling system designed for optimal cooling equipment.
More results with more heat and result could be overheating or turn off suddenly.

Driver on Toshiba support page is tested and also suitable for use on a mobile device, so it is strongly recommended to use drivers supported only.
A very interesting paper on the installation of the third party drivers, you can read here.

By the way: can you please tell us which of operating system you are using and what version number preinstalled AMD driver display?

  • Satellite C855-149 stop being disconnected from the network

OK, so yesterday I had to switch my cell of a room to another (it's a Toshiba Satellite C855-149).
Its usually connected to the grid, so I moved and everything was fine.

After a few hours, I decided to go back to my room and as soon as I unplugged my laptop charger (my battery was full), it will stop. The fact that since then.

It shows that the battery is at 100% and that the laptop is connected.
I started looking for advice on the internet and I found this program called BatteryInfoView.

    That's what it shows: http://imgur.com/H9n8phU

It looks like the battery isn t correctly initialized.
    Try the next solution.
Go to the Device Manager, expand the section battery and remove / uninstall compatible ACPI control method battery.

Restart the unit. After that, the deleted entry must be recognized again.
You can now check if the laptop turns on if the adapter has been disconnected.

If this did not help you, I recommend you remove and insert battery while the laptop is running.

    Your comments would be appreciated.
