My Satellite laptop refuses to boot

Hello

My laptop won't start, it won't let me even get into Safe Mode by pressing F8, I have to hold the power on button, but when I let go of the power light lights up for about a second, but then disappears.

This happened after doing a restore of the system at startup, but then it didn't start after that.
Any help?

Your the thread topic confuses me.
You have problems to start the laptop or with load operating system?

Enter the BIOS, the default value and try again. If the same thing happens again I assume that you must reinstall OS.

When you start with F8, you will enter advanced startup options. Figure option fix my computer in the list? If so use the menu options for system recovery. If you'll be able to do this test with repair start up or restoring the system again. Last option is the installation of the OS.

You have created recovery disks?

    Hello

L300 my girlfriend was terribly dragged so we decided to format C:. We did it with the XP restore disc that came with it.

Then we had to update the drivers. We started the installation of upgrading the BIOS on Toshiba driver site, disappeared for a while and when we returned, the computer has restarted itself.

He has been stuck in a cycle of the screen "loading windows" and one with a lower bar that says press F2 for this or F12 for this. Tried all the options in the start menu, not even safe mode works.

We have tried to reformat with the previous method, by inserting the XP CD and by holding down the 'C' button when starting. We get the familiar "Windows Setup" screen, and it seems to load all the files from the CD windows installation. But when we come to the installation, we get a blue screen error message. "A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer...". Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D254, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Nothing seems to work, please help! We really want to save the images on the disk D: partition.

    Hello

Try to configure the BIOS to the default settings.
You need to access the BIOS, and there you can set the default value.
Please check if you can install the operating system by using the-> AHCI and compatible SATA mode.
If you are using AHCI to include the SATA drivers. If you are using compatibility mode, then SATA drivers are not necessary.

If you want to get access to the HARD disk before you install the operating system in the C partition, then I would recommend to start the laptop using a Windows Live CD WinPE and BartPe.
Both are live CD what don t need an installation, you must boot from this drive only to access to content on the HARD drive.

  • Why my laptop refuses to boot with keyboard/mouse wireless attached?

HP Pavilion Notebook dv9830us. A few years ago, this laptop got pushed around when configuring updates. In the end, had to use to get it running and it was never completely right since. I noticed one thing, it is that I now have a start button extra stacked on top on the original. Is this because I did a cover?

    Hi Brenda9995,

It is possible that during the recovery of something glitched, that may have caused that. Just make a recovery but wouldn't. It's probably more in a relationship when the laptop has been disturbed.

As it appears you have the problem you mentioned, and possibly others, you can try to contact support to see if they can help you with this.

  • Satellite NB10t-A-101 refuses to boot from any external media

I just bought a NB10t to the United Kingdom and try to boot to a bootable USB key

I noticed that the BIOS on this particular model is UEFI mode only, which, in itself, is not a problem because users can sign their own operating systems with a certification authority and use them, but this laptop refuses to boot from any external environment... or even to provide an error message.

I changed boot priority in the BIOS and USB moved up
I disabled the Secure Boot option in the BIOS
I tried all 3 USB ports as well as 3 different drives (NOTE: THESE WORK FINE ON the 3 OTHER SYSTEMS, a dell desktop/laptop computer and a computer acer laptop)
I also tried different distributions (Debian & Arch)
I used several installation methods (hard install of Unetbootin/Full/Rufus etc...)
I tried all your currently released BIOS versions (delivery with V1.0, V1.1 - Jan Feb - V1.2)

After trying all these when you press F12 at startup, the shows start menu but when you select a device, the system continues to initiate (Win8) HARD drive

After Googling around, I noticed that you have unlocked 2 BIOS updates I tried all versions of these and still the system refuses to boot in my selected device

Can we expect more updates of the firmware in the near future? Is there a way to work around this problem to start my chosen OS? Is there an option of CSM?

    Hello

Your laptop was equipped with the new processor Intel Celeron 2810 n that belongs to the Bay Trail-M architecture.
This new * Intel Bay Trail * technology is only supported systems that support UEFI and systems (Win 8, 8.1 Win) and, therefore, the UEFI / CSM boot mode option isn't available in the BIOS settings.

_So you can install only a system capable of UEFI

  • Satellite C850D-104 - no boot HDD, no WEIRD boot, black screen

    Hi all

I had a laptop Toshiba C850D-140, purchased approximately one to two years. I decided to reinstall Windows 7 and I started the whole process. Everything was good, the "expanding windows files" ball, completed successfully, then the laptop restarts automatically. Then the problems started.

No Toshiba logo came, only a line of underscore in the top left corner, not flashing, wearing just here. After about two seconds, the system rebooted and underscore appeared. This process in a loop forever. I can enter the BIOS menu, I can get into boot menu list, but the problem is that the laptop cannot boot from any device. HARD, no USB or DVD disc. The DVD contains Windows 7 genuine, working and tested on other PC but the laptop refuses to boot from it.

    Any ideas?
    Consistent thanks

To my knowledge, underscore flashing means a HARD drive problem.
But you said, underscore does not blink but his lie.

In some cases, this could mean the RAM to malfunction. However, this is just an idea.

Question: do you have set the default BIOS? In the BIOS, press F9 to get the default settings and press F10 to save.

HARD drive appears on the first page of BIOS (HDD name, size,)?
If this isn't the case, it means that the HARD drive is faulty.

  • Satellite L500-1XL - does boot and the screen stays black

    Hello

I have a Satellite L500-1XL, when I turn it on the fan and lights and the hard drive light blinks several times then nothing, he's not going to the Toshiba screen remains black screen, tried ext monitor but still nothing.

The fan always runs very quietly and the hard drive is running in, I put the hard drive in an another L500 and it is very good and can be accessed without problem, it has only 1 stick of 2 GB of RAM DDR3 and the other L500 I is DDR2 so I can't try to change the RAM. If I remove the ram should it beep or does only desktop computers do this? Mine does nothing when it is removed.

Any help would be very useful, thank you!

    Hi gazzdowzell,

If your laptop doesn t boot it seems to be a hardware bad working it could be everything, motherboard, BIOS, CPU, etc and it is difficult to say what exactly is the problem.

First of all, I would like to try this:
[What steps must be followed if your Toshiba laptop does not start? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=21]

If it doesn t work, please contact a service provider authorized in your country. If your laptop is under warranty, repairs are free.
In addition if you remove the RAM and the beep of t n for laptop, it seems to be another problem. If you have removed the RAM module would be defective, the computer would have a beep.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro L20: No boot screen

I have Toshiba Satellite laptop & for some reason any recently there is no boot menu or screen. Once windows has loaded the screen works fine but my windows is corrupt & I want to reinstall I can not do this in windows because of the errors & I cannot access the BIOS menu or even see the multiboot menu.

I wonder if a BIOS update will fix this, but I have to do this blind because I have nothing on the screen.

Can someone tell me what I have to press on if I had to do a blind update? Or is there another way to solve this problem (no boot menu screen).

    Thank you

    Hello

You want to boot from the CD drive. Am I wrong?
In this case you can press F12 immediately after starting the laptop, and then the start menu should appear. Then you can choose the device you want to start.

The other possibility is to press the C key. There is an option to boot from the CD drive.

  • Satellite C55-B802 - no boot device

    Hi guys,.

While working on my C55-B802 Satellite laptop is get hung up as usual, that I just forced my knees to restart by pressing power button .that computer of it appears. "No boot device, please restart" I tried removing the battery and gng through the start by not sure boot and bla bla bla menu that can be done, but no use it please help someone. the sound is like clicking and beep

It is not easy to say what the problem is here, but I can imagine that the HARD drive is the troublemaker.
Enter the BIOS settings and check it please if the HARD drive is listed and he acknowledged.
What you can try is to set the BIOS to the default settings and try to restart your laptop.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - cannot boot from CD/DVD drive

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 of friends, he was running very slow so I said I'd do the usual for him.
Back up all his documents, and then reinstall windows. not so easy!

First of all, try to boot from the CD so I can boot into Ubuntu or reinstall windows.
Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.

From time to time I get an error saying + "Media test failure - check cable" + or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject.
I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Able to boot Ubuntu from a USB key.
Try to copy its documents on my external drive but really copying REALLY slow (like 1 MB/s) and kept getting IO errors on some files.
I can't run diagnostic software for HARD drive that I can not boot from the CD (could get the Ultimate Boot CD on a USB but if anyone thinks it would help?).

In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR).
    This means a failing drive?
What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the portable CD player with a CD of work of another computer and windows recognize today this new CD player at all!

By putting a bootable CD in this new CD player, it always starts from the HARD drive (do not recognize CD player in all).
The BIOS is a bit unnecessary and does not show the detected disks...

Also, boot Ubuntu from a USB key, with the original CD player, he reads real CD and DVD copied of all zeros are considered blank discs and replace the CD drive with a known working in Ubuntu means its not recognized at all (if this isn't windows driver problems).

When I started messing around with it I remember windows say the time had been reset, so I set the time properly, then he did the same thing again I think. A flat CMOS battery could not be responsible for this?

Is the motherboard and specifically the IDE controller or a broken ports, or am I doing something stupid? I'm tempted to just install Ubuntu by USB and tell him not to bother with CD more ;^)

Any suggestions or comments would be much appreciated!

    Thank you
    Dan Gent

    > Me has taken long enough to work, I had to press DEL/ESC to enter in the BIOS, but once I put to boot from the CD (and was a bootable CD in the drive), it kept just boot from the HARD drive.
You see the CD/DVD drive in BIOS? I mean all the details like the name WEIRD etc.
If this isn't the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is not recognized by the BIOS due to a hardware problem.

If you can see the STRANGE in the BIOS but are still not able to boot from any disk, then I suppose that the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disk for different reasons.
One of the reasons could be a defective or damage the laser lens

    > Every so often, I would get an error saying "Media test failure - check cable" or something similar, theres a lot on internet on this subject. I think its something to do if the boot order has CD first, then it has LAN as 2nd.

Yes, this error means that your laptop tried to boot from LAN

    > In windows, the CD player only reads real CD (audio similar DVD, not CDR and DVDR). This means a failing drive?

As I said above, it would be possible that the reader s laser lens malfunctions and, therefore, the ODD can't handle the media. It seems that the laser lens can not calibrate properly and can not move in the correct position. This question is not repairable and the drive needs to be replaced.

    > What intrigues me most, however, is that I changed the CD drive with a CD of work of another laptop and windows don't recognize this new CD player at all!

The fact is that not all CD/DVD drives are compatible due to different master/slave/C-salt settings. You must use the supported players! In most cases, you can find a list in your user manual what CD/DVD readers are compatible.

  • Re: My Satellite laptop will not load to the top

    Hello

My laptop isn't even a year yet, it worked fine until today.
I turn it on and the bit of Toshiba comes up then after that it of just a black screen and then it says

    Realtek rtl810ie/8102e pci-e ethernet controller v1.07 (080320)
PXE - e61 media test failure, check cable of
PXE - mof exiting pxe rom.
no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key

I put t have a startup disk or anything! Fact does not matter what it means?

    Thanks for any help

    Layla

Each book has specific boot order and in this boot order components of different material as drive optical drive, hard drive, or LAN.

The start is always set in the BIOS settings and nothing, for instance HARD, LAN and ODD disk boot order. If the laptop can not boot from HDD ist starts from second defined device (LAN) and continue.

Boot order of your laptop satellite does not for me, but somehow, it stays on the startup of the LAN device option and you can see this message on the screen.

Restart your laptop, and press F2 to enter the BIOS settings. The default value and try again. If the same start arriving portable once again but this time with the F12 for boot options-enter key. With top and bottom arrows have chosen press and device disk HARD come. If the HARD disk is OK, OS should load up. If this is not the case, there is a problem with the operating system preinstalled.

    Please test and send feedback.

  • Satellite C660 refuses to stop

    Hi all

I hope someone can help, my laptop refuses to stop and I have no idea why.
    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Thank you

    Hello

I agree with Feliks. I think that some processes that are running in the background the system lock and prevent from closing.
If you access the Task Manager (ctrl atl del) you will see what the applications and processes are running. This closure could help solve this problem.
You can also use some tools like CCLeaner to clean the system and the registry.

  • Satellite C50 won't boot to the top

    Hello

My son satellite C50 won't boot to the top. It is connected to the power grid and will arrive at the password screen but as soon as you type goes into shutdown. Any suggestions please?

    Thanks in advance.

You write about Windows or BIOS password?

In any case, on this virtual path, it is not easy to give an exact explanation what can be wrong there.
Your son of many important data stored on this machine? If this isn't the case, you should try to reinstall the OS and test it with the factory settings.

What you can try is to enter the BIOS settings and leave the machine 5 minutes to see if cell phone will go OFF. If this isn't the case, set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

Is the cooling fan may be strong at the start of the machine?
