my screen has a lot of Flash in black unless I run in safe mode, why?

screen turns off just or, for example, as I type this the part of the background of the typed text flashes black when you type...

The only way to make it go away and start firefox in safe mode.

Safe mode disables extensions in Firefox 4, and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

If disable hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Once implemented freezes screen, can get out of gel by Ctrl-alt-delete, starts in safe mode

I had to do a full system recovery on my computer with Vista. Towards the end of installation screen is frozen on a blue screen which says that it was a single configuration screen and to ignore the messages etc. other than those who might ask you to restart.  This form has remained for more than 1 hour and a half before I dared to think that there might be frozen by pressing Ctrl-alt-delete and then cancel I could get the desktop to appear how I was responsible for approving some updates, more than 90 more.  Half of these updates failed, but future attempts had succeeded re installation. Now everytime I restart the computer, it goes back to the original blue single please wait screen.  I can go out with Ctrl-alt-delete. I also tried Microsoft Fix - It and the sfc/scannow not detected no problems. Any suggestions would be welcome.  Thank you.  Susan

  • Windows 8 disc locked; It does not start at the home screen, will not auto repair and doesn't give me access to safe mode

Nightmare; perfectly working windows 7 64-bit configuration I upgraded (stupidly) to Windows 8 (it seems installing a 32-bit version for my troubles). I installed a driver for a having previously worked USB WiFi adapter (that is, it was working fine before the upgrade) and now it does not start. It says "irql less than equal", says his collection of information and restarts to a kind of repair mode, none of the options which work because he complains that the hard drive is locked. Any attempt to start in SafeMode (SHIFT + F8) fails, with mnode security options panel shows ever in service options. Really, a very incomplete piece of software - I should know better than to install version #1 what whatsoever.

Suggestions for moving forward? No, I don't have a record of victory 8 because I updated my installation of windows 7 perfectly work in updating online.

Simple repair that has worked for me.

If you have a windows install disc (if you borrow 1 from a friend)

run the disk at startup, press on f9 to choose cd rom as boot, press a key when it asks you,

Let the disc to the refreshment of startup repair section, choose Advanced & go to the command prompt and type.

    Bootrec.exe

    Bootrec/fixmbr

    Bootrec.exe/fixboot

    Bootrec.exe/RebuildBcd

When all this is over, it will show that your o/s and the reader don't worry if it shows as D instead of C, it is because the system resource use C at this point, it will ask you if you want to add this player to your startup type Y and your good to go, your old win 8 will draw upward as it did before spread the word.

  • Screen won't turn on and can run Vista in safe mode on Satellite P series

Last night, I was working on a slide show with windows movie maker in Vista. I had trouble getting the software to recognize my video files for my camcorder, so I suggested that I try to download codec so that he could play my files... I don't know what I was doing, but he gave a shot.

Even if the codec didn't work even after the download, I was still able to run my computer normally. This morning I woke up and continued to work on my slide show but my computer wouldn't play my slideshow. All he would do was play music and audio files... Everything seems to be working so I decided to restart it.

My computer will restart, but now my screen is black. It remains 'functions' I see change different colors of black and gray because it is set to zero... and I can hear all the audio that comes with reset, but I can't get my laptop screen to work.

I plugged my desktop monitor to my laptop to see if the monitor would work like that and it did for about 30 seconds, then turned off Black too. I then rebooted and press F8 and ran in safe mode with my always-connected desktop monitor. I am able to run in safe mode but not normally reboot. I think I downloaded some viruses with this codec.

I decided to get the desktop monitor and press F8 just hoping the screen would show up on my laptop... but it still doesn't work. It stays black.

Now, I'm running in network mode so I can know what to do next. I tried a restore of the system in safe mode, but I think that it only deleted windows updates and not something else. I can't find my toshiba recovery CD because we moved a month ago and it's somewhere in a box...

So here I am. I work constantly on a slide show for Christmas and can't play or it end before my laptop works again. I also tried a during restart System Restore but I don't know my password of administrator and I tried a couple that I thought that I would have used during installation, but they were not good and so now he me off to run as administrator.

Can someone tell me what I can do? Thank you very much

I'm a newbie here, but have you tried...

    1. press F8 (press on and hold, or press repeatedly) while Vista boots, and then select Safe Mode. This should automatically open the account administrator (no password needed) and you can then reset your existing account to the administrator.

    2. simply delete all user accounts permits (including the one you are logged as) without forgetting to let the disabled administrator account. And then disconnect.

    3. use Offline NT Password & Registry Editor to unlock the administrator account or promote another user to the local Administrators group to regain access to your locked Windows Vista PC.

    4. also Vista has a hidden superuser account.

    Just my 2 cents.

  • black screen with cursor, no safe mode, tried everything, need new ideas, please help!

Windows Vista premium, boots to black screen edition. freezes on crcdisk.sys when you try to start in safe mode. now online and answer all possible solutions, I tried.  many points of view, no response!

    Hello brent383,

    1. don't you make changes to the computer before having this problem?

Black screen problems are usually caused by display drivers does not not or the material does not.

You can try the methods below to resolve this issue.

    Method 1:

Try to start the computer in mode low resolution, as this may be caused if the graphics card is unable to load the drivers.

    a. restart your computer if it is running.

    b. press the F8 key after your computer powers initially.

    c. Once you see the menu Options Advanced, boot you can stop tapping.

    d. use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.

    e. Select the low resolution mode.

You may need to install the drivers for the graphics card if it works very well in this mode.

    Method 2:

Because safe mode gets stuck on crcdisk.sys, it seems to me that the problem may be related to the hard drive. I suggest that you run chkdsk on your computer.

You should try running a Chkdsk on your computer to check if there are bad sectors on the hard disk.

    a. Insert the Windows Vista DVD into the DVD drive, and then restart your computer from the DVD.

Note: when you receive the press quickly press any key to boot from the CD or DVD, press any key on the keyboard to restart your computer by using the Windows Vista DVD.

    b. Select your language setting, and then click Next.

    c. Select repair your computer.

    d. Select the installation of Windows Vista to be repaired, and then click Next.

    e. under System Recovery Options, select command prompt and type:

    CHKDSK [drive:] [/ p] | [/ r]

[drive:] Specifies the drive to check.

/ p check even if the drive is not marked dirty, bad.

/r locates bad sectors and recovers readable information (implies / p).

WARNING: This could cause loss of data on your computer. It is recommended that you back up all data and files before performing this.

    few others.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer or an external hard drive enclosure, then
saving them. Do this using several methods to redundantly. Of course, a real computer
Shop or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel
-Double click - Driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - device Manager - map - graph
then right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
is CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and END PROCESS on it.
then on the tab Applications - lower right - new task - the type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is
accessible by tapping F8 as you start several times.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all hotfix is usually a hit or miss
base. That there is no information on a black screen as there is just a blue screen
adds to the difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect.
You can try a google to see the proposed repairs, whom some have worked however these

    Hello

In my opinion, you should contact the Toshiba ASP.
Usually after registration for laptop, the guarantee must be valid for 2 years and all part replacements must be covered there warranty.

My recommendation is; make a call to the ASP and ask for assistance and handling of the Fryer

Start machine this morning, works fine for about an hour, and then all of a sudden the screen has disappeared, as if there was a power failure sudden.

Monitor LED is on (not flashing).

Card mother LED is red continuously - red (not sparkling).

No sound or startup beep on reboot.

I thought that this could be a monitor, but it works fine on another XP machine.

Does anyone have ideas, which could have caused this?

Looks like your motherboard is dead. It could be the power supply, but from your description of the symptoms, I doubt it. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
