  I bought this laptop from a friend (have receipt) who sell it to me because the screen was cracked and spidered all out when you the activated. So he sold me this which is a model Probook of HP4420s XT940UT #ABA. About a week after I bought this Probook friend who sold it to died me suddenly. It was sudden and terrible. Some time later, I had the time of the purchase of the LCD for this model, replace it myself (was very easy actually) and booted up the laptop with a new installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Edition. After installing all my software and using the laptop for a while now, I wanted to get into the Bios that I've never done. So when I started the laptop, click ESC, then F10 to enter the BIOS, there were two places to enter a password is different then all Dell I've ever owned. One was mine I guees I put in place using HP protect tools and the other says BIOS/administrator. Well I can do most of the changes with the one I put in place with my password but my password does not work, nor can I get in some very significant changes that I wanted to do using Bios/administrator, as kindling the LoJack, namely the blocking of the hard drive etc. , turning on turbo boost, fan, etc. Well, since the person I bought is no longer with us, there is no one to turn to the answer to this question of administrator/BIOS password / problem.  I tried to take battery Rtype and restore that way, didn't work. Several times, I called HP and they sent me to a BIOS page to download the same BIOS, I have already, would not let me install it. When I bring up the command prompt and do not put anything in BiosConfigureUtility.exe happens, said just a wrong command. When I try to enter the BIOS through the C: file in the files of the SSM, I reach the BiosConfigUtility.exe file, click on it to open it and it just flashes a way small order page to fast to read what it says. I would like to have complete control over my laptop thinking I have a lot of time and money invested in it now.   If necessary:

  Control Panel - mouse - look for the TouchPad settings - mine is on the settings of the device and your own tab
  may be different (it is NOT the Scrollings tab which is for the mouse). On some, you can activate
  and disable scrolling and/or define the size of the area and the sensitivity of the touchpad.

  Some will have a TouchPad progam/control icon in the Notification area near the clock - low
  right.

  Check with the manufacturer of system support, documentation in line, or forums as there probably
  are shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

  Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touchpad - the driver tab-

  I had no problem downloading the driver for monitor for my PC.  You should be able to download and save the driver from the monitor on your PC.  Then try the installation again.

  Turn off your PC and try a reset monitor. Unplug the power cord from the monitor and hold the power button of the monitor for 30 to 60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and it lights up.

  After you download on the Windows desktop, right of the mouse on the desktop and select the resolution.  You should be able to select the desired screen orientation.

  I don't know if this may be a good solution but perhaps it s worth a try:

  1. download the latest version of the software here touchpad:

  2. remove the old software
  3 reinstall the downloaded software
  4. go to mouse properties and check if everything is set up (especially the scrolling feature)

  This problem may occur because of incompatible or corrupted touchpad drivers. I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and see if it helps.

  I recently bought a 2nd hand Toshiba Satellite x 200-219. Had some problems with it that I have overcome now, except one... The touchpad does not work as it should. I think that the cable has been damaged at some point.

  So I'm wondering if I should use the same ribbon cable to connect the keyboard to the motherboard or can I get one of a different model of PC Toshiba laptop?

  I tried searching on the net for advice but have resulted in nothing so thought I would try the forums.

  Also check if the option disable touchpad when USB mouse is connected is not checked. That are in the control panel-> mouse-> device settings

  There must be some problem with contact. I recommend to unlock touchpad wire, put it back in place and simply lock again.
