    Genuine Windows clean install

    Hello

I had a problem with my laptop Acer Extensa 5230th. It was not started and so I took for Matech computers.  They diagnosed as having a mechanical drive problem.  So they replaced the drive and installed a more recent version of windows vista on.  Note: I haven't bought a new copy of vista family premium, he said he was going to reinstall vista.  It had windows Vista Home Basic, it has installed vista Home premium and said that he had validated by call from windows, but I'm suspicious because I don't think you can use a base of windows key to validate Home premium!  It means that he has put on an illegal version on windows or used the genuine key that came with the laptop.

In addition, on computers of brands, if this happens again, how is a technician for legally to reinstall the original windows that it came with the new hard drive? How to install windows vista basic on the new hard drive by using the original key to make it genuine? What windows installation disc would you require? or is it easier to just buy a new copy of windows?  I heard that many technicians, prefer to install illegal versions of cracking of windows instead of the customer to buy the new installation of windows.
    Kind regards
    Lewis

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    Method 1.
    Change hardware acceleration
You can try to change the hardware acceleration in the middle and check (you can try another level too.)
    a. right click on a space empty on the desktop.
    b. go to the resolution of the screen.
    c. click Advanced settings, and then click the "troubleshooting."
    d. set the hardware acceleration in the middle. (here you'll get the only option your video card sound support).

    Method 2.
    a. you can also check that Windows is up-to-date to check updates for your hardware.
You can also run the difficulty below that diagnoses and identify codecs that can cause windows to become unstable or stop responding.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/GP/video_freezes_or_crashes

    b. if the problem persists, you can check the latest video card driver provided by the manufacturer of the PC that is compatible with Windows Vista is installed.
You can also check out the article below which explains to update hardware drivers.

    I hope this helps.

  • Why my hard drive in GB available when I am freezing and deleting files?

We try to release our c drive for more Go to allow our itunes to run, as he left recently updated due to say that there is not enough free space on our hard drive.  We did the disk cleanup, defragmentation and removed tons of files.  We uninstalled many programs last night and has space approximate, we needed, but when we have eliminated several files this morning our disk space had decreased dramatically.

    Help, please!

He shouldn't do that, check for a virus or malware.

The pagefile is also possible (a part of the disk hard Windows use as RAM) is expanding for some reason any. If the managed system pagefile is possible. in general, it will be double of your physical RAM.
You can also try CCleaner & Defraggler of Piriform.
CCleaner cleans up the registry which may contain unnecessary information of uninstalled programs, he leans on cookies, trash and other temporary items that can be cleaned.
Defraggler is an alternative to the windows defragmentation, I personally think that it does a better job and release often huge chunks of hard drive.
Piriform software is free to use for personal use only. There can be no ads or restrictions trail. CCleaner offers as destroy all space on the hard drive with 0, it should dissipate all "empty" space, the system can be badly interpreted as full. However written all the free space with zeros can take a lot of time and make the system busy all by.
  • Windows 7 loses the secondary hard drive

This has been a problem, I don't know why I waited this long to ask about it.

My secondary hard drive keep endangered of Windows 7, as if someone unplugged spontaneously, except that it's still there.

This problem can be resolved by restarting just the computer, and it can remain correct for a few minutes, a few hoursor a few days, but it still exists, usually several times a week.

I checked all connections and even swapped the cables. There is nothing wrong with the drive itself, I can put it in another computer without this problem occurring. I also tried to move to an another empty SATA connection on the motherboard without success.

I do not use the drive on a regular basis and bought only so that the steam and the game files that are, (and now the original since I finally broke down and got Mass Effect 3 despite efforts to avoid EA "me too!" steam clone.) were not cluttering up my main hard drive.

But when I decide to take a load off and play games, I like for the reader to be there without needing a reboot, it can so be a little frustrating because it's usually when I am stressed already :)

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    Disks RAID configured hard two?

Internal hard disks connect to the motherboard of your computer using an IDE or SATA interface interface. Most new hard drives come with an IDE or SATA connection cable, depending on the type of drive.

Install an internal hard disk takes a bit more work, especially if you plan to make the new disk your primary hard disk where you install Windows. Drive hard internal jumpers that you set to configure the main hard drive (master) disk where you install Windows or a secondary (slave) drive where you store programs and files. For the diagnosis of your problem, I suggest trying the following methods and check if the number is reproduced.

    Method 1:

Check if you are able to view the second hard disk (HDD) in Device Manager. If so, try to change drive letter assignments in Windows 7. See the following steps:

    (a) connect to the computer as an administrator.

    (b) click Start, right-click computerand then click Manage.

    (c) click on disk management.

    (d) right click on the volume of the secondary HDD that you want to change and then click change drive letter and paths.

    (e) double click on the secondary drive, click change, click the drive letter that you want to use and then click OK.

    Additional information:
Change, add, or remove a drive letter
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-add-or-remove-a-drive-letter

If method 1 does not resolve the problem, go to method 2.

    Method 2:

I suggest you try to check the secondary hard drive to find errors.

    Consult the following link:

Check your hard drive to find errors in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2641432/en-us

Warning: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

If method 2 does not work, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

Try to run a scan of the file system (CFS) auditor to check any file corruption:

    1. Go to Start, click all programs and open the Accessories.
    2. Right-click on command prompt in the list programs, and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, click OK, or alternatively click on Yes.
    3. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

  • Can I format my secondary hard drive on another PC?

I understand that you format a secondary hard drive before using this, but what happens if I format it in another computer and place it in another computer? I basically want to just send my files on the secondary hard drive then put the hard drive in another computer and transfer the files on the primary. Should it be formatted when installed in another computer, every time and will it be ok if I just send my files to real vivid primary in another computer? Thank you

Format on a computer and you can use it in all that are supported by the type of file system.  Use NTFS for windows computers.

  • Secondary hard drive for M58e

I really like the Lenovo computers, the M58e that I just bought (two, actually) doesn't have a provision for adding a secondary hard drive. The hardware Maintenance Manual shows a cage on the bottom of the case, but that is not. The manual, as far as I could tell, has failed a number of similar cage.

It is hard to believe that Lenovo would be a tower that does not have the ability to easily add a second hard drive. What is the solution? Drill holes in the bottom of the case? Incredible.

Support is provided with certain models, but not others. This is really unfortunate. I drilled four holes in the bottom of the case and the bottom mounted drive, very near where it would have been if the support was present.

  • Unistalling windows vista on a secondary hard drive.

I recently built a new PC with a SSD as main OS drive and Windows 7 as my new main operating system.  As long as my secondary HARD drive, I used an old HDD that has a version of Vista as well as all my old files.  I'm hoping to keep all my old files on this disk and delete Vista to free up space on this drive.  I have also other programs (software Zune. ect on the drive, I guess I will need to download a new version for Win7.)  Should I uninstall that as well and download a new version?

Any advice you may have for me are appreciated... Thank you!

  • Secondary hard drive receives the drive letter assigned to the start-up

I have recently formatted my secondary hard drive, which had been sitting in my empty PC and do nothing for a while, to function as a music folder. The problem I have is that every time you start that I have to manually assign the drive letter, Windows does not automatically. I tried to reformat the hard disk, but it does not solve the problem. In addition, by train to perform a bugcheck gives an error indicating the check cannot be completed. Personally, I have no idea how to solve this problem, and I have not found anyone with the same issue.

    Hi Revolvist,

There is a possibility that the second hard disk is defective or damaged.

If the second hard disk is a separate hard drive, I suggest you disconnect the drive from the computer (if possible) and connect to another computer and check if the problem persists.
