My Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad has stopped working. (Acer Aspire E-15 with Windows 7) but a USB mouse works fine

It was working fine until this morning. When I turned it on I was told an update for flash player was available and I hit install. There was a mistake and since then no touchpad. I tried the news of mouse in the Control Panel, but he said it works very well. Any ideas?

Most often when a device does not work, it is because the driver is damaged. Re-install a new copy should help

  • Tecra A8 - Touchpad has stopped working

    Hi all!

I have a Tecra A8 (model: PTA83E) who has an ALPS touchpad. The touchpad has stopped working even if it is visible and fully operational in 'Device Manager' and also the 'Control Panel '. Apparently there is nothing wrong with it but the touchpad does not meet the clicks or touchs, it seems as if it has been disabled, but said, in Device Manager, the information is 'this device is functioning.

I updated the OS to Windows 7 Enterprise and I would like to activate the touchpad if not I should always use a usb mouse. I searched the touchpad drivers but it seems they are Don t.

This is the information that I can view in "Device Manager", about the pilot:
    -Controller version: 7.0.302.3
    -Date: 26/09/2006

    Thanks to you all.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200. Touchpad has stopped working, I can no longer scroll. I tried all the settings, but it did not work.

Why you n t trying to update or reinstall the driver of the touchpad?

I think that this should be done first of all, you can download the compatible driver since the European driver Toshiba page and could reinstall it.

  • Satellite A350 - Touchpad has stopped working

My touchapad worked well on both the system and dedicated driver (synaptics). One day I turned it off using Fn + F9 and after that I couldn't activate it. I used the pilot system then. So I installed Synaptics but he says there is no device conpatible to work with. I also tried Alps - no result. So I checked bios - Pionting Dev. is. I changed this option twice thought, it can be useful - don't. Today it is about half a year since I have to use the usb mouse.

Yesterday, I restored the system - I had a full, independent image. It was created when the touchpad still worked. After restoring the touchpad does not work. So I decided to install the system fresh - same problem. I almost thought that touchpad is broken. However, today, I noticed that when I disconnect the USB mouse, and then between this action and touchapad sound (inform of this action) of the system works - for approx. 0.5 seconds. It moves! But I failed to turn on.

I don't understand what's the point. I read some post on other forums. It seems that other people have same problem. They have different but always Toshiba notebooks. I think that we need professional help. Can get us?

    Sorry for my English.
    Best regards

    Hello

To be honest I n t found other similar topics so it doesn t seem to be a common issue. Also, the touchpad on my laptop two Toshiba works perfectly and never had a problem. In addition here it s only a user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me. If you want professional help, get in touch with an authorized service provider.

In any case, a point is not clear to me: you have written on several system restores, images, etc., but what images you used exactly?

In your case, I recommend a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility. The disc can restore factory settings (out of box) with all the necessary drivers and tools. After this installation everything should work properly again.
Otherwise it s a hardware malfunction

  • My touchpad has stopped working

Hello. I'm Zaitul and I Aspire E 15. the touchpad suddenly stopped working and if the cursor isn't even when I touch the touch pad. my laptop still can be exploited can I use an external mouse. but the touchpad is one of the important components for certain situations.  What should I do?

I had the same problem happen to me only yesterday. I ran windows update and it showed the optional updates to install. One of them was the "Serial IO I2C ES controller driver Intel", which I clicked on update. It installed and required a reboot. To restart, I noticed that the mouse cursor disappeared during the connection and after that the touchpad was totally insensitive. I tried to disable/enable the touchpad with FN + F7, but that did not work. Fortunately, I had a classic USB mouse I plugged, which worked. Open the Control Panel, Device Manager, it showed the devices system/I2C controller with a yellow triangle next to it (showing that the driver could not run). I chose to restore the driver to the previous version, and the touchpad started working immediately. I suspect that you have the same problem.

    To fix:

    1. open Control Panel.

    2. Select and open the Device Manager.

    3. Locate the I2C controller in system devices.

    4. double-click on I2C controller.

    5. Select the driver tab and click on the button return to the previous version.

    6. your touchpad should start working again.

    7. close the Device Manager.

    8. close the control panel.

I see the Acer response to this problem and their suggestion because I suspect that in the following days, there will be a large enough percentage of users of Acer laptops running into the same question.

  • Equium P300-16 t - scroll Touchpad has stopped working

The basic touchpad functions are OK, but the ability to scroll by dragging your finger along the right or bottom of the touchpad disappeared.

I tried to reinstall the driver but no luck.

I saw similar comments in another thread (http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=107615𚑟) where the proposed solution was to restore from the recovery CD.

This seems a little drastic for a touchpad problem and I hesitate because I'm about 6 months on this machine and do not really want to go back to zero.

    Any other ideas?

    Thank you

Hmm, yes it s radically to use the Toshiba recovery disc and reinstall the entire system only to recover the touchpad features.
What you could do is to check if the touchpad scroll function has been configured correctly.

In the control manager of-> mouse, you should find the necessary adjustments.

In addition the satellite P300 PSPC2E needs two drivers touchpad.
I put t know which driver you have reinstalled, but you must reinstall both. Synaptics and Alps Electric

  • Satellite 1900-303 Touchpad: has stopped working

The touchpad on my Satellite 1900-303 has suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. The touchpad icon has disappeared from the office toolbar & I do not see the touchpad listed in Device Manager. However, the ALPS touchpad driver is listed in the installed programs.

  • Acer Aspire 471 - V5 - 6876 Touchpad has stopped working

Has been working well for a few days then suddly stopped working (no cursor appears and movement does nothing). Keyboard mouse external, fine when it's plugged in works fine.

Rebooted and no change, no events in the log events for material, looks fine in Device Manager. I have not discarded with drivers yet, but it is brand new and worked great for the first 2 days. Tried Fn + F7 in case it has been disabled. It's computer of my mother, and she is a pretty basic user, so it is unlikely that she played with all relevant parameters.

    Any ideas? Help?

I have had dealing with this problem for almost a year now.  I developed a small workaround solution that may be useful to others.

If you let the laptop all of the time and the action set to "Do nothing" when you close the lid of the laptop... (breath),

The touchpad seems to have sleep code of its own and will remain in standby state after opening the cover.  It is a design flaw (suspected).  The workaround is to hit CTRL-ESC and use the arrow keys to navigate down to the 'Shut Down', 'Hibernate', 'Log Out', 'Lock', function 'Sleep' in the Start button menu options.   Select 'Sleep' and leave the laptop you're going to sleep.  It must be completely in mode "Eve" in 15 to 20 seconds.  Once it is in a sleep state, press the ESC key and it will wake up upward with the Mouse touchpad functionality restored.

    Hope this helps

  • Buttons and satellite C50-B-189 touchpad has stopped working

my daughter received the foregoing, f. Christmas. the touchpad and associated buttons have stopped working -no cursor. How do we get working again? Stem +.

Hi, this is due to the pad (which is buggy), just kill the process by using CTRL + SHIFT + ESC AND THE TAB more DOWN to navigate through the process target. I do it every start.

    Of tomsguide (November 2014):

These patches do not help, all that happens is, after a while, the touchpad fails again. While Toshiba works on this point, I found a quick and effective solution. That's my new Windows 8 Toshiba.
Press CTRL ALT SHIFT to get your process to come. Find the Touchpad "enhancer" process. Complete the process. Your touchpad works until the next reboot, how simply repeat this step.
If you're struggling complete the process without being able to use your touchpad, I discovered a curious thing. If you hold a mouse click, you can move the arrow of the mouse with the touchpad very well. Its a bit... awkward... but all you have to do that is to end this process and after that, you can use the trackpad normally.
