My toolbarupdateservice.exe is running my CPU at 98-100%

My toolbarupdateservice.exe is my CPU running at 98-100% and the origin of my computer works as a person trying to make the water flow back of neck.  How can I fix it?  I have windows XP SP3 and Office Suite Professional 2007

Hi Scott B.Hall,.

  1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
  2. You have security software installed on the computer?
  3. You have third-party toolbars installed on the computer?

Method 1

It seems that the computer is infected with a malware infection, I would suggest that you scan the computer and remove infections, check if it helps.

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

You can also use Microsoft Security databases to scan your computer

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/PC-security/MSE.aspx

Method 2

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you uninstall the third-party toolbar installed on the computer and check if it helps.

    Hi ykxx,

    Help, please

    Hello Rahul,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forum.

I understand that explorer.exe is using too many CPU resources. I'll help you with this problem.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. what security software is installed?

    3. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

To resolve this issue, let us try these methods:

    Method 1.

Advanced startup options (including safe mode): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Run a full scan of the computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.

    Microsoft safety scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning of Security Scanner: there could be a loss of data while performing an analysis using the Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate viruses as appropriate.

    Method 2.

You can run the system maintenance Troubleshooter and check.

Open the troubleshooting of System Maintenance Utility: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/open-the-system-maintenance-troubleshooter

  • Task Manager shows a setup.exe called running unexpected process in XP

My computer has been acting strange and when I opened the Task Manager, I noticed (setup.exe) was running. What is (setup.exe)? Is spyware or something that someone can use to hack into computers?

Setup.exe could be for any software installation file. Task Mgr allows to interrupt the process, then search for the file. Make sure that you enable the advanced search feature. Right-click on the file and choose Properties. Click on the Version tab, click on the company in the left pane. That should tell you the original file.

You can also use the search utility for Windows files.

  • MsiExec.exe is running

    Hello

The message "msiexec.exe is running" when you use the installation program

There is no running msiexec.exe in the Task Manager.

The fix of regedit, that we managed to solve this problem with before does not work.

    Reset does not work...

The research has the following suggestion

    • go to start/run, type services.msc

Search for services and see if you have windows install the auto value. If this is the case, set it to manual.

Are there risks associated with this?

    Hello!

No, no risk.  It must always be set to manual.

  • It is normal to dllhost.exe 3 running at the same time?

I found 3 clocked dllhost.exe to thhe same time in windows 7 Professional is that normal or I have a virus?

    Hello

I wish to inform you that it is possible that the number of instances of dllhost.exe is running at the same time.

Dllhost.exe is the Windows DCOM DLL host process. It executes the DLL COM + and control processes in Internet Information Services (IIS). As such, is used by many different applications, including Visual Basic and .NET applications.

However, there are a lot of viruses under the same name and could easily infect a computer. Let us perform a full scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner mode without failure.

Download Microsoft Safety Scanner, start the computer using safe mode and run a full scan.

Safe mode is an option of troubleshooting for Windows that starts your computer in a limited State. Only basic files and drivers needed to run Windows are started.

Follow the link below to learn how to do it.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Run a virus scan complete and check if the problem is resolved.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a security tool free to download that allows demand analyses and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Warning: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
