  • USB stick detected and works but not displayed in the computer

I am running windows 7 Professional. Any drive USB storage that I connect to my laptop is not in the computer. He is awarded a legitimate drive letter and I can access content drive by typing in the drive letter in the bar of navigation or term. I checked using the disk management utility. Operations on the work of perfectly good files. The only issue here is that the reader does not appear or is hidden in the computer. I put the folder options to display everything, IE. no possibility to hide whatever it is has been disabled. In addition, when you click the remove safely icon in the status bar, the device is listed as «...» "instead of real name and the ring road. Note that there is a user account that is my administrator account.

Interestingly, I have created a new standard user account and was able to see the USB into the computer when it is connected to this account. Is there any setting I can change on my admin account to enable this? I would prefer not to have to create a new account and reconfigure all my settings.

    Hi VJ17,

It could be that your user account has been altered.  See the following article:

  • When a pop-up message indicates that a storage device has just been attached and I don't put a USB storage device into the computer at all, what that means?

From time to time, (isn't that every now and then, not every day or every week) a message appears on the computer screen to notify that "a storage device has been attached... and something or other on a port '-as it would if a new hardware device had just been installed or removed... only, I have not attached at a storage device.

In fact, apart from the scanner, printer and keyboard connected, which are already inserted until the computer is turned on, no USB storage device or any other thing seized or inserted into the computer when this message is displayed on the lower right screen where the icons on the desktop are,

Why would this happen unless I had personally inserted/joint a USB stick storage device myself in my computer?

I'm afraid that maybe someone to access details and store information from a remote location via a storage device? Is this possible?

And if it's an error of some sort, how to fix this problem?

    Please notify. Thank you.

This probably means you have a bad USB connection somewhere.  I got this a lot when I used markets good USB hubs.  It also happened a lot on a couple of the USB plugs on my old laptop 4 year, where I had plugged in and out things in them so that the connectors are not as strong as they were when new.  My main office more connected devices above that outputs 4 USB, that I had on the back, so I finally bought a card extension to add 4 more exits USB.  If this is your case, perhaps you could do the same.  Expansion cards are not very expensive, usually in the range of $ 15 to $ 25, and they are fairly simple to install.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

  • Option to "Remove" USB key by right clicking in the 'Computer' window it is no longer available.

Using Vista, there is an option to "Remove" a USB key in the drop-down list it with a right-click in the 'Computer' window that lists all of your drives. He was usually right under "Eject" if I remember correctly. Why is it is gone?

Please note that I am aware, you can also use the option 'Remove the device safely' in the task bar, but this application relates to the command drop-down list as the taskbar icon is a bit heavy and I preferred the speed and convenience to make it quickly through the window of the computer.

Which is probably causing this problem?

I see that you have changed your question of 'My Computer' to 'Computer', etc., after my reply to you.

If your original question was 'Computer', etc., my answer would be more than the only option.

Computer errors may occur from time to time, to which we have no precise answer.

  • Windows 7 USB Flash drive - if I click on Scan and difficulty after you insert the disk, it erases my files

Original title: Windows 7 USB/Flash drive problems

In Windows 7, if I plug in my USB drive, the message box appears titled ' do you want to scan and difficulty of removable disk (e :))?»  If I click on Scan and Fix, he deletes my files (or so I thought).  I hope that the files are still there and I have simply can't see because the drive is FAT32 and not NTFS (it says that most of the drive is NOT of free space, so I assume that the files are still there).  What should I do to see / access files?

Note: A reader, I never selected "Scan and repair"... so I can still see/access files.
On the other drive, however, the first time I plugged it on Windows 7, I clicked Scan and Fix and it erased all the files on this drive (I guess).  This of course got me very angry.

    Hi MichaelGramm,

It seems that the file format has been corrupted. You might consider formatting the drive in NTFS file system and check if this solves the problem. For Windows 7, the best choice for hard disks is NTFS.

Note: Make sure that you back up the data before formatting the disk.

See these articles for more information on formatting disks and flash player:

Formatting disks and drives: frequently asked questions

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/formatting-disks-and-drives-frequently-asked-questions

    Caution:

Formatting erases all existing files on a flash drive. If you format a flash disk that has files on it, the files will be deleted.

    Hope this information helps.

  • NEX - 5N, unrecognized by the USB Ports of the computer

I have a laptop Asus UH56e which became more and more incompatible with my NEX - 5N. Is not what USB port, I plug the NEX in, or what USB port in my 4 ports USB hub, I plug in, the camera is not recognized by Windows 7. I try to install the new update of firmware and can't even get past the first step, which is the connection to the computer. Is there anywhere I can download the driver for the NEX - 5N install on my laptop? It seems that the driver is not install from the camera, or is not recognized by Windows 7 (64-bit).

Yes, it shows USB MTP Mode, but it does not connect to Mass Storage. By clicking import images and videos results in no new pictures or videos found on this device, despite the fact that there are pictures in the camera. Click Browse files and media then, however, shows the folder and clicking on that, I can see the image files and copy them to a folder on my hard drive. Yes, I tried to update the firmware several times, but because the camera is not recognized by the USB ports, the camera is not found by the firware update, either. Yes, I unplugged the USB hub and all other devices and also makes no difference. I don't have another USB cable, however. I have access to another PC Thursday, so I'll check then. Thank you, Glenn.

  • Not recognized USB-6251 (detected) to the MAX but is detected by the Windows 7 Device Manager

Does anyone have a solution to our problem?

USB-6251 is not recognized (detected) in MAX but is detected by the Windows 7 Device Manager.

    Is our configuration: Windows 7 (64-BIT), DAXmx 9.3.0f2, MAX 4,8 and USB-6251 (S/N 12B647A. P/N 194929 D - 04 L)

    We had a 'ready' indication/led the 6251.

We tried several things... (all do not work)

    1. we have installed DAQmx 9.3 (for Windows 7)

    2. clean MAX Database by the following

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/WebSearch/86256F0E001DA9FF86256FFD005B827C?OpenDocument

    Michael B.

Yes the 6251 appears as a DAQ hardware.  Device charger OR placed in the auto-start services window.  We have refreshed MAX.

Success!  I had to manually start the device loader.  Even if the service has been set to autostart, it did not work.  Right-click on the service shows that the beginning was selectable.  Click Start and the service began.  Start to MAX and can now see the device.  Open the front panel.

How does the monitor devices OR running in the interface of the status bar to the device loader service?

I don't understand why the service was not working.  Is it a security issue?  I am logged in as administrator.  I'll try once again as a normal user.

    Hello

1 have USB flash or external drives readers have worked on your computer?
    2. what operating system is installed on your computer?

    (c) in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.
    (d) repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.
Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.
If you are still having the same problem then you can check the device USB drivers updated using windows update. See the following link for assistance.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly
If the edge of the question persists I'll ask allows you to check the chipset driver updates you find on the manufacturer's website. The chipset drivers normally integrate USB controller drivers as well.

    I hope this helps.

  • question: How can I format external h. disk connected to the computer by USB. Thank you, scrameric

Computer is Windows XP Home Operating System and I would like to format hard drive is connected in a basket through the USB port to the decision-making of the motherboard... The problem is that the computer recognizes that the drive has been connected, but it is not present in the list of workstation. It is defined as working properly and turned on, but not recognized as a drive of usable storage. I understand that if it has been correctly formatted it would be accepted, as are the other external storage drives that I use. Thanks for your suggestions.

Click Start > right click my computer > manage. In the left pane, click Disk Management. The content should expand in the right pane. Right-click on the device and choose assign a drive letter.

  • To install the new eSATA / SATA to USB 2.0 hard drive in an external enclosure but the computer does not recognize the drive in disk management

I have an old computer with installed Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and 3.  I bought a new hard drive and also a new external hard drive for her case.  I have correctly installed the hard drive inside the enclosure, and I think that I have installed correctly (in the motherboard SATA port) eSATA port, according to the manufacturer's instructions.  I plugged everything... first eSATA, then power and power switch.  I restarted the computer, and I chose to analyze disks in disk management.  However, the new drive is not recognized.  The SATA port on the motherboard could not work or did I buy the bad, perhaps, hard drive enclosure for my system?  Or something related to the software?  Thank you.

    Hi Donnadream,

Connect the hard drive to another port and check if that makes a difference

Step 1: You can follow the steps mentioned in the article below, which deals with a similar question

A computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB, an Apple iPod flash drive or an external hard disk drive

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/925196

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756/

Step 2: Download and install the latest drivers from the chipset of the computer or the manufacturer of the motherboard and check

Step 3: Hard disk can be turned off in the BIOS; You may want to enable

Important: Change BIOS (Basic input output system) /semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

If the problem persists, it is a hardware problem, contact the manufacturer of the hard drive for a more specialized help
