My Vista laptop turns on itself?

My Vista turns on itself randomly. I wake up in the night to the sound of my laptop turn on. How can I solve this problem? Thnx in advance?

Look at Hibernate settings to see if you can customize what action wakes the computer. Or Windows Update to do its thing, when you know that the machine won't be in hibernation. Aside from that, I am of the ideas. Sorry I was not able to help you. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Why my Vista laptop keep locking itself?

Seriously! I'll take a wild guess and say that it crashes itself at least 4 times during the time it takes to write this message. Once already! That's just it. For most people, screesnsaver lock is equal to one (twice, BTW) timed action. Well, I do not run facial recognition, but all parameters have been set acoordingly, and sometimes I'll even turn off recognition. (3 times, ready to stab it!) So I doubt that it is in conflict with anything whatsoever. (4 times) Basically, I can be typing, obviously, or scrolling and all of a sudden ' BOOM! Office locked, and fix me (5!) my log-in windows! Why? I'm about to throw this $2000 * to the wall! 6 times before I hit send! Doug

    Hello

Method 1 : start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem is resolved or not, if the issue not to persist in safe mode and then perform a clean boot.

    A: Start in safe mode

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

Start your computer in SafeMode (Windows 7)

    B: perform the clean boot

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: perform step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Method 2 : disable hybrid sleep and see if the problem is solved or not. Search for the song that says "What" which is hybrid sleep

my laptop turns off after 5 or 10 minutes, it's hot and I can't hear the fan, the fan still work? If the fan is not working properly, how to fix?

Turn is very likely a hardware problem and in your case, most likely an overheatng issue. Repaired by the manufacturer or a local service company that specializes in laptop computers (avoid the Geek Squad and any other department store; they are all the terrible).

  • Satellite C855-1UU close problem, notebook turn on itself

    Hi all,

I hope someone can help, I need to know what to do. I bought this laptop C855-1UU Satellite two days ago, and I'm afraid she has certain shortcomings.

Everything works fine, except that I have problem when I power the laptop off. I use Linux OS (tried with Sabayon and now on Manjaro, I wanted to just check is this OS or hardware problem).

    It is:
When power off the computer laptop (with icon or via the console command), phone off... then turns stays off for about 5-10 seconds and then switch on by itself without any reason!
I tried to determine what could be the possible reason, and I found that occurs only when the battery charger is connected. Tried it with the battery removed, with loading the BIOS default values, nothing changes... always turn on itself.
When unplug charger laptop battery and try to power off the computer, it works.

Any suggestion, idea or advise what to do?

    Thanks in advance!

  • HP Touchsmart 300 turns on itself

    Hello Luijo,

Is the computer is completely shut down until the power strip is turned off? If the computer is set to return to the last power state after a power cut so he could turn himself back on thinking that there is a power failure.

In the BIOS, check the setting to "After AC Power Failure" changing of auto off.

  • How to enable Windows Defender on a Vista laptop

    Hello

I have a Vista laptop and today found out that Windows Defender is disabled.  When I tried to put it on a window appears telling me an error: OX800106ba caused windows defender to stop work and that I should turn the computer off, then on.  I did several times without success.  Can you help me please?

    Hello

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-security/how-do-i-manually-start-Windows-Defender-in-Vista/dab845b2-9ba5-47F3-9518-c4c6781e7d5b

"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.

Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.

Once modified, click apply and OK.

Quit and restart your computer. Check the back take the same path to confirm that Windows Defender has started"

    .

If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

And for now, change startup Vista programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:

  • My laptop turns off suddenly in use

My laptop turns off without any warning every 20-30 minutes

and he died 6-7 times a day.
    I use Windows Vista Home
My laptop was plugged into the electric current (I remove the top battery)
I tried to boot with safe mode and still, it turns off.

Can someone give me advice to understand the problem
I was very grateful to hear it.
    Thank you
    Kat

A common cause of this kind of behavior is overheating. One thing to try:

Unplug the unit and remove the battery. Use a vacuum and target different cooling openings. Replace the battery and reconnect it. Check the operation.

    Hello

The power on and off is problem is hardware and you need a real computer store or
support of the manufacturer of the system. You cannot fix the hardware with the software.

  • I try to connect my Acer Vista laptop for HP Officejet 7310 printer using a wireless connection.

I try to connect my Acer Vista laptop for HP Officejet 7310 printer using a wireless connection.  The printer is connected to a Dell XPS running Windows 7.  Is there a way to do this?

    Hello

Printers use a built-in wireless card and plug it into a power source, not your network or computer. After turning on the printer, you must refer to the documentation that came with the printer to set up a wireless connection for each computer.

I suggest you to download and install drivers from the link below
