My windows Explorer stops working when I try to use the file menu on a file.
My windows Explorer stops working when I try to use the file menu on a file. If a file is selected in a folder that windows Explorer will be display Windows Explorer has stopped working the message box. This occurs only if a file is already selected and you click on the file option in the menu bar. All the other menu items work well if a file is selected or not, and if no file is selected the menu file works fine. I already ran SFC/scannow from the command prompt, but it returns no violation.
Hello
Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft community forum!
I understand that you are having problems with Windows Explorer. I'll help you solve the problem. To be able to understand the question in a better way, I would like to ask you a few questions.
(1) did you make any changes before the show?
(2) how often does the problem occur?
Method 1:
Step 1: You can check if the same problem occurs in safe mode.
Please follow the link on how to start the computer in SafeMode below.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Step 2: Perform a clean boot.
Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.
How to set up Windows 7 to start in a "clean boot" State
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After a repair, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
Note: Choose a date before that the problem occurred as your restore point while performing a system restore.
WARNING: Perform a restore of the system can change your settings and delete your unsaved data. Do it at your own discretion.
Please let me know the status of the issue. I will be happy to provide you with the additional options that you can use to get the problem resolved in Microsoft Windows.

I just changed web pages (using Crimson editor) and instead to save the files on my hard drive I just left open and "hibernating" my machine overnight. After 3 days of having an FTP connection (opened by a mapped drive) setting on my computer hibernation, I accidentally hit Shut Down, and I lost all my work, ARGH! (Yes, I know, I should have better). In any case, now when I open my computer and click on the FTP of the mapped drives, I get the message that Windows Explorer has stopped working. And if I go to Internet explorer (7), enter ' ftp://mysite.com it brings me to a root FTP page where it says: to view this FTP site in Windows Explorer, click Page, and then click Open the FTP Site in Windows Explorer. " I do that and it brings up a window of the Explorer windows momentarily and then I get the message. Explorer Windows has stopped working. Any ideas? I hope I don't have to reinstall the operating system. I did a system restore to 4 days ago. It did not work.
Hi SewNSew,
To refine the question, I suggest you try the following steps:
Step 1: Set the clean boot computer and try to access the drive
Follow step 1 in the link below,
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.
After find you the program that is causing the problem, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program, if you rarely use that you should consider uninstalling the software
Important: n ' forget not the computer to start normal follow step 7 in the link
Step 2: The utility of Auditor (SFC) for the file system allows administrators to perform an analysis of all protected resources to make sure they are the correct version. Whether SFC should find all incorrect versions in one of these protected resources, SFC will be replaced by the correct versions.
You can still run a SFC scan on the windows vista computer. To run a scan suite SFC as follows:
(a) click Start and in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.
(b) at the command prompt type sfc/scannow , and then press ENTER.
If the problem persists,
Step 3: Disable control (UAC) user account and make sure to do this, follow these steps:
1. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking on user accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking user accounts.
2. click on Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Select the use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer, clear the check box to disable UAC, and then click OK.
Important: It is not recommended to disable UAC; We just try to limit the question. Please, enable UAC after the test is performed. See the link below:

Explorer Windows has stopped working when I right click on the files
When I need to click with the right button on folders, windows Explorer has stopped working.
up to now, still can't use the right click menu ~.Yes, it's the details of the problem.
Unfortunately, it does not identify the failing module.
At this point, it may be useful to try to capture a dump of user of the explorer.exe crash mode.
You can configure Windows to create dumps of user mode. First, create a System Restore Point.
If you copy and paste the following text in Notepad and save it as a .reg file, then right click on the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, when the .dmp file explorer.exe plant should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe]
"DumpFolder" = hex (2): 43, 00, 3A, 00, 5 c 00, 43, 00, 72, 00, 61, 00, 73, 00, 68, 00, 44, 00, 75,.
00, 6 D, 00, 70, 00, 73, 00, 00, 00
After Explorer (explorer.exe) crashes, you can, and then make the .dmp file available (provide the link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site? The following link has information about the use of Windows Live SkyDrive:

Hi everyone, auggy,
I really hope you can help me with a problem I have on a single workstation at my office. It is an accumulation of 32-bit Windows 7 running MS Office 2010 Standard. It differs from other generations in our office because it is used by the head of the team of our accounts, and so it has a number of custom pieces of software that she only needs access (payroll software, etc.).
All the basic features of the computers seem to be well, except the two following, and I would really like to help get to the bottom of it.

Windows Explorer stops working when loading Photos
I have read most of the messages of the community on this subject and tried without success. I am trying to copy pictures from my SD card to record pictures. It worked fine without problems in the past. Now when I do it, Explorer stops working, and a message appears, "Windows Explorer has stopped working - Windows Explorer is re-start", and the explore program stops. Doing so the bar tasks disappears and then reappears as if the PC starts. I would be grateful to know if someone had a similar problem and found a solution?
Thank you for the time you put into your useful suggestion. I finally found the problem with the help of Microsoft.
I had to uninstall MyWinLocker.

Simply run the Windows Explorer on my Vista (desktop computer) machine and try to view or otherwise access My Documents directory on my Windows 7 computer crashes Windows Explorer (computers are connected at home). Messages event viewer the following:

I then copied some files (using the Windows 7 machine) from the Documents directory on your Windows 7 computer to the new directory and was able to access it from the Vista computer. I transferred then all the files in the Documents directory to the new directory (again on the Windows 7 computer). Then, I deleted the Documents directory and renamed the new directory of Documents. However, when I try to access the Documents directory on the Windows 7 computer from the Vista computer, explore crashes as before (see more top job Event Viewer). Windows 7 computer is currently running Windows 7 Home Premium, and SP1 is installed as are all Windows updates. I am able to access the directories music, Photos and videos on the Windows 7 computer from the Vista computer.
Hello
You can perform a scan of the SFC (System File Checker). It lists all the issues and will also retrieve all files if necessary. Follow the steps below to p Ed a SFC Scan -.
a. click Start, click programs, on Accessoriesprincipally made, right click guestand then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
b. type the following command and press ENTER:
sfc/scannow
A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient because the scan can take some time.
c. If all files require a SFC replace will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue.
d. If everything is correct you should, after the scan, see the following message "resource protection Windows not found any breach of integrity".
e. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.See the link for further directions on scan SFC - below

Windows Media Player error when you try to read the file: error downloading codec
Yesterday, I got no sound and video, today I have sound but no video. What is happening with this?
I updated my drivers and now the video does not work. I use Windows Media Player c. 9.00.00.4510.
