My windows file is 43.3 GB that my winsxs folder is over 36 GB on a hard drive that is Go 46.8

I am running Winows Vista Home Premium.  I used disk cleanup and deleted programs I don't use, but I can't? Why I can't free up more disk space?

Is the hard disk or a partition of a hard drive internal that is only 46.8 GB? It is a typical hard drive or a solid sate drive? Y at - it other internal hard drives with disk space available space?

Have you looked at the system restore points for save disk space?

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner. Delete System Restore points may be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options. You can selectively remove those created in less important moments.

cCleaner also comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors. http://www.CCleaner.com/download

  • How can I get pictures of LR windows file when it is said that they are offline or missing?

I loaded photos to LR, where I made a few changes. They were JPEGs. I deleted some in LR who went to the trash. Originals were in a file windows 2009-11-08. As I saw no changes in the images of windows, I decided to transfer LR images to the original file and opted to replace the originals, could be a fatal error, it turns out that LR, I am new on this. So now the originals are missing in the windows file but the images are always in lightroom, but can't do something with them that show them in the library or the slide show. I want to put back them in the windows file to download on my blog and I really hope that they do not miss by telling me in lightroom. Don't see why they are missing, if I am viewing them. Try the suggestion of adding file support parent, then right click and locate don't remember exactly the procedure but I couldn't make it work. I need help? Thank you.

By right (or click cttr) click on the folder. You will have a set of options, including synchronize them the folder. Unless you have actually moved the folder itself another somwhere. In which case you need to re locate everything first. (Update folder location). If you remove the actual file, re locate your back upwards (you don't have saved files when importing?)

If you actually have two more wrote the original files, deleted the folder and could not create a backup, you're really in trouble (and managed to beat all the various guarantees embedded in LR... look through the video tutorials on the help site might be an idea!)

  • Is it possible to recover files deleted from your Recycle Bin, after the failure of the computer after the backup hard drive contained in the folder windows.old, including system files?

Very well. My computer is messed up awhile back and my friend saved my whole hard drive, the files system and everything, then wiped and restored, then ALL put in a folder called "windows.old" that I can access my hard drive. So since he has saved the files system and everything, I'll be able to recover my old files I had deleted before it was erased, if (hopefully) they is not replaced? If so, what filepath can I go in?

    Hi thatonehxckid,

The content in the trash is not saved in the folder windows.old during a custom installation.

  • Windows 7 Professional... How to get access to security to view my external hard drives and external flash dirves

I am a first time user to windows 7 Professional and need to learn how to access files that are connected to the computer by an external flash drive or an external hard drive.

External or external flash drives hard drives can be connected to windows 8 computers or windows xp to view the files, but when then identical external or external flash drives hard drives are connected to two computers with windows 7 Professional there are settings automatically don ot all access to the external hard drive or flash drive external files.

When the computer display, it displays the external hard drive.

When I left click top produces a pop up with the title bar: location is not available

Content: H: | is not accessible.

    Access is denied.

When I right click on the hard drive and then click the Security tab, it displays:

Name of the object: H: |

To continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties.

    Do you want to continue?

Then I clicked on continue and it displays:

    Owner

You do not have permission to view this object's security properties.  To view its security properties, you can try to take possession of the object.  As owner, you can also control who gets the permissions on the object.  Please note that once you take possession, the previous owner may not have access to the object.

To try to take possession of the object, select an account from the list, and then click OK.

Name of the object: H: |

Current owner: unable to display current owner.

    Change in ownership to:

the two choices are my name or administrators

I then chose an and apply and ok and it did not work.

I then chose the other and apply and ok and it did not work.

Then I clicked on other users or groups and entered everyone and that no longer works.

I am the only user of this computer brand new.

When I click on accounts Panel then user control and security for the family and then user accounts, it displays my name as administrator password.

What are the steps that I can buy an external hard drive or buy a flash drive or use the ones I already have and use them with this computer which has windows 7 Professional?

How is the switch of the property did not work?

I went back to safety again and this time stayed at the bottom for special permissions or advanced settings.

And yet when I kept getting location is not available

    H:\ is not accessible.

    Access is denied.

How do change you windows 7 Professional so that you can have access to your own files on an external hard drive or an external flash drive.

    Please list the steps.

    Thank you

This problem has been resolved in collaboration with support of higher HP for Z book 17 mobile workstation.

    Steps:

    (1) determines that it is not NTFS problem

    (2) using the MSCONFIG the problem has been isolated to a single service

When this service has been disabled and after reboot, the problem of access to the files is resolved.

Results: HP had installed software on the HP Z book 17 laptop or mobile workstation which, by default, block communication with external hard drives and flash drives external.

This HP Client Security software replaces or blocks all right click changes settings become apparent.  It blocks the change of ownership.  It blocks the administrator privileges.  It blocks all is used.

The HP Client Security software has been changed and changed to deny privileges (default setting) to allow the communication with external drives.  When you go into the setting for this software, it is now a humming noise and maybe I need to download the drivers and software again to see if this problem is also corrected.

Thanks for your comments.  I spent a lot of time on this and didn't understand why all right-click methods had failed.  The default software setting HP deny had trumped right click all changes.

  • Windows stops and restarts each time I login, the last thing I did was partition the hard drive

I upgraded my hard drive because I needed more space.  At first, I put the same settings as the original drive.  C is the primary drive and D is the HP recovery disk.  There is apparently a small partition that windows uses, but does not have a drive letter.  I left all sizes even.  This has left me a large part of the unallocated disk.

With the help of Partition Master, I created a major score that I use for music, photos, documents, etc.  At the time I did, I got an external hard drive connected.  He was assigned as drive F and I created the new partition as G:.

Shortly after this, my computer crashed and restarted.  When I log in, it says that windows has recovered from a serious error.  It plugs along for a little while and then did the same thing again and again and again.

It doesn't gives me a lot of other information that means something to me.  If I click on the Details button for the information it sends to Microsoft if I want to report that it has a bunch of gibberish, but I'm sure that it wants to say something to someone.  I'll try to copy the next time it hangs after as I write this.

I ejected the disk external and changed the drive letter on my new partition to F.  I can't believe that's going to do something, but I thought that maybe the partitions on the drive must be in order (of course, I'll try anything).

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hello

You can follow this link & check if the problem persists.

A "System has recovered from a serious error" message after every restart.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium on my HP Compaq nx6325, 1 GB of RAM, 320 HARD drive

I intend to improve my OS to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - Bit. Can I put? Hardware problems? that I should be on a lookout? My laptop specs are HP Compaq NX6325, 320 HARD drive, 1 GB of RAM, AMD Turion 64 Bit X 2 processor.

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

    • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x 86) or 64-bit (x 64) processor

    • 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

    • 16 GB of disk space available (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

    • Graphical device DirectX 9 with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

  • Windows 7 seems to have unexplained memory use high after a scan of viruses of several hard drives.

    My computer:

    • 6 GB of installed memory, normal use is about 1.5 GB
    • 3 hard disks of the computer (OS [Raid 0]. 2 data readers)
    • Windows 7 64 bit

    Problem:

    • After analysis the entire computer, the use of memory up to 3.5 GB of jumps and stay until the computer is restarted.
    • Research in the Task Manager and resource monitor shows the memory used, but running programs don't add to what be close to 3.5 GB
    • I tested it with AVG and Avira antivirus, and it happens with both. Then he would lead me to believe it's a matter of Windows.

    Troubleshooting:

    • Tried it with several antivirus, same problem with ones I've tried.
    • Scanned just the OS partition without significant increase in memory usage.
    • Scanned two data discs. Memory usage has jumped about 1 GB during the analysis of the first hard drive and another 1 GB when on the second disc. Use of memory are remained high, once the completed scan. Subsequent analyses retains high memory usage.

    Question:

    • What is causing this behavior? Indexing, or is it some sort of memory leak?

The answer can be found here.

  • Move the Windows Media Player files to another external hard drive

The hard disk that contains the files from my Windows Media Player 10 is dying.  I need to move the data to a new hard drive that I bought, but have not yet connected to my PC.  Old and new external hard drives are plug-and-play.

I have a lot of additional information to the library and want to be sure that I don't lose in the process.  However, I have not found anything in the documentation that tells me how to move my database from one hard disk to another.  Can anyone help?

If music files are in MP3 or WMA format, so most of the information is also stored in the files themselves, so that these information will be retained when the files are moved. There are a few fields that are not stored in the files, such as play account, custom fields and possibly star ratings. In order to preserve these fields during the movement of the library, you can use the backup of the metadata tool.

  • Install Windows 7 on my old hard driver will remove all existing files from my Windows Vista install?

OEM of Vista to Windows 7 OEM

I am trying to build a new office, but I reuse my hard drive from my old build considering that 64 bit OEM vista installed I know it won't work with the new construction, but my question is, installation of windows 7 delete all existing files or replace only vista?

To add about the Bill, you must use a copy of Windows 7 retail.  OEM copies are not for end users to buy and install.  OEM System builder packs are governed by the System Builder License, and you must be a system integrator that sells computers for customers to use.  A person who built a computer for personal use is not a System Builder, as defined by the license.  Such a person can be called a -your-self or anything you like but Integrator system is defined in the license:

'Authorized distribution and acceptance. To distribute the software or the hardware in this Pack, you must be a System Builder and accept this license. "System Builder" means an original equipment manufacturer, assembler, a repairman or a software pre-installer that sells the customer to a third party systems. »

  • Help on Windows files

I need help in organizing and deleting unnecessary files from windows on my computer?  I tried to find an expert online, but I couldn't find a company that seems trustworthy.  Windows support or the support of the manufacturer of my computer were not allowed to say what I can delete files.  Any help or advice would be appreciated?

If by "windows files" you mean the files associated with Windows itself, not 'organize' or 'remove' one of these.

If you're running low hard drive space, you can delete your own files - photos, music, documents, etc. - or, preferably, get a hard drive fat or extra.  Alternatively, you can uninstall programs (applications) that you no longer use.

You can also use the built in "Disk Cleanup" tool, which will remove some files 'Windows' for you safely.

Click the start ORB, click computer.

Right click on your hard drive and select "Properties".

    Click "Disk Cleanup".

Select one of the listed causes (read the brief explanation), and then click OK

If you want to clean a little more in detail, click on "Delete system files" and respond to the UAC prompt.  This will show several additional categories of files that can be deleted.  Occupying more space would be category probably old Windows updates.  Windows keeps all Windows Update files, just in case you need to "roll back" an update to an earlier version.  Assuming that you have kept your current system with Windows Update and it worked correctly for a while since the last update, you can remove these versions old, replaced.  You can read more details here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2852386 and here: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/askpfeplat/2013/10/08/breaking-news-reduce-the-size-of-the-winsxs-directory-and-free-up-disk-space-with-a-new-update-for-windows-7-sp1-clients/

Finally, you can click the "More options" tab and choose to delete all but the most recent system restore point.  If your system works well, you can do it safely, but you will also lose the ability to restore 'previous versions' files that were saved in the restore points.  For more information on the 'previous versions', see http://www.howtogeek.com/56891/use-windows-7s-previous-versions-to-go-back-in-time-and-save-your-files/

All these answers will win some - maybe quite a bit - hard disk space.  But in the end, there is no substitute for buying a drive greater than or greater.  Traditional hard drives are fairly cheap these days, and even SSDS are falling in price.

  • Upgrade XP to Windows 7. Put my hard drive in my system that has a new motherboard

I have to update my material, so that I can update my system to windows 7. I intend to use the same hard drive with a new motherboard, processor and other equipment that will be compatible with windows 7. Since I'm on the same hard drive I intend to buy the updated Windows 7 home version. I have a full version of Windows XP Home Edition that was used to install the OS on my current hard drive. Is that I have problems with questions of Microsoft or policy reguarding the software used on another computer when it is really the same computer thanks to the equipment updated, so that I can buy the update of win 7 and get current with the time?

    Hello

If you wish to format your hard drive, and you use a Windows 7 upgrade version, do not use a program from another software manufacturer to reformat your hard drive before installing Windows 7.

For more information, see link below: upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7

  • Install Windows on a new hard drive while maintaining the files on the old?

I have Windows 7 64-bit on my stock 500 GB hard drive. I have a 64 GB mSATA which I would like to do a clean install of Win7 on. Regarding the 500 gig HD, I would like to wipe and partition (it is loaded with bloatware and probably malware) but if possible, I like to keep a few photos and mp3s. I have to wipe everything, or can I just install Win7 and start-up of the SSD, then delete what I want on the other hard drive?

I suggest at the very least, you back up your personal folder in C:\Users\Your_AccountName on a hard drive external.

Proceed to install Windows 7 on SSD, reactivate so you keep the 500 GB attached as a slave drive and format it. You could even redirect your personal folders to it after formatting it.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
