my windows media player is not picking up my drive, how this can be fixed?

I am trying to burn a cd using my windows media player, and the player says I need to connect to a burn. I have a burner, I used many times before. I am running Windows XP. Why the drive does not read the burner? How can I fix it so it can?

FWIW... Win XP cannot natively recognize Commercial
DVD video... it requires a DVD decoder. And... He
is not a DVD decoder on your Win XP Pro drive.

If you could play before commercial video DVD...
do a system restore to a time before this started
    may be your solution.

Or you could buy a DVD decoder at the following link:

  • Windows media player does not work as no driver DVD

Had to format drive (trojan) & reinstall Windows XP home. Now Windows media player does not work as no DVD driver download from Toshiba site?

    Hello

Usually the Windows media Player is not able to read DVD movies IF no plugins were installed.
To watch DVDs, you can use programs such as WinDVD or PowerDVD.
These programs are designed for the DVD play!

But you can also visit the Microsoft Web site and search plug-ins for Windows Media player.
Then you can download and install to play a DVD with WMP

    Best regards

  • Windows Media Player does not recognize external DVD drive - so how do you watch a movie DVD?

I just connected an external DVD - RW drive in my ultrabook of Windows 8 for the first time.  The ultrabook recognizes the drive and the dvd movie which are, but Windows Media Player only - only says: "connect a device".   The resolution of the issues said that the drive works properly.  I can't copy this movie at the video store, because it's a borrowed DVD.  So, how do WMP to recognize the DVD drive and play the movie?

DVD playback is possible in 8 Pro windows media center. Player Windows Media 8 has no native codecs DVD added to it. You have the option to purchase an update for your Windows 8, which is Media Center Pack to allow playback of DVDs on your computer.
    * Note: Media center pack is only an upgrade for existing computers to Windows 8.

  • Windows Media Player is not listed under the toolbars, and I can not get the mini Player to work

I have Windows Media Player 11 and can't seem to get the mini Player to show when I minimize it.  When I right click near the clock, what I see under the toolbars is links, language bar, desktop and quick launch bar. What happened to the option of the Media Player window, and how can I get it back?

    Hi RachelAllee,

    1. you remember to make changes on your computer before this problem?

You can again save wmp.dll, and then search for the question.

    a. Click Start, run and type:

    regsvr32 "%programfiles%\Windows Media Player wmpband.dll"

    b. press enter and restart the computer and check.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows Media Player does not recognize the new downloaded songs

    I have a Pavilion a4310f Prod Nr: race AY014AA-ABA, Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I just found out that Windows Media Player does not recognize the songs, I recently downloaded from Wal-Mart music download Site.  The songs can be seen in the music library in a folder called 'Downloads' and I can open each song and he will play when double-clicked.  The problem is that I can't create a playlist containing the new songs and burn a copy of the reading list, because the songs are not listed in the Media Library Player any hot it is sorted (artist, Album, Genre, etc.).

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Mitch

    Problem solved!

Went to: start == > Control Panel == > troubleshooting == > view all == > and ran troubleshooting on the library and the settings of WMP.

Convenience store detected library corrupt and "in media files appear in the WMP library.  Then ran convenience store on WMP settings which reset OMP to default settings.  After that, everything worked as announced.

Thanks to Big_Dave for putting me on the right track.

Microsoft windows media player does not retain the previous size. is irrtating so me gift of reorganize its size every time when I open it.plz help I want stable wmp version 11, version 12 is sucks.

    Hello, Simone

I'll assume you're on Windows 7. Windows Media Player 12 is not supported on Windows Vista or XP and as such, you will need to go back to Windows Media Player 11.

You can check the permissions in the registry to ensure that it is able to record information.

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.

Open the registry editor by clicking on start, type regedit.exe in the search box and press on enter, you may be prompted to continue.

In the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, MediaPlayer, then Preferences.

It should be an element named LastLocation_26, right-click on it and select Rename, and rename it to old LastLocation_26.

Leave the open registry editor and open Media Player, then move it to your favorite place and close Media Player.

In the registry editor, press F5 on your keyboard and check if LastLocation_26 has been recreated.

If this is not the case, there is probably a permissions problem.

If so, the location must be registered.

    Trudy,
Try the following and let us know the results.
    Run these tools:

    System File Checker

    The system update tool

Take note of the results of the System File Checker.  Then after you run the two, run Windows Update.

You are able to update of AVG?
Any other antivirus (i.e. Norton, McAfee, etc.) has already been installed on this computer?
When you say 'Nothing' that you tried to install?
If you disable AVG and then run Windows Update you get a different outcome\error?
