I think you need to make changes on your router wireless. I think it will solve the problem.

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...

For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.
Click on the Wireless tab
-Here, select manual configuration... Wireless network mode must be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...

-Set the Standard - 20 MHz Radio band and change the Standard channel to 11-2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...

For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WPA wireless security, encryption, select AES... Password input your desired WPA key. For example, MySecretKey, this will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.

NOTE: The password must be more than 8 characters...

Click the settings advanced wireless
Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...
Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

GOLD.

While the connection to your wireless network, if you request the PIN code, Flip your router upside down, and you will find the 8 digit Pin number, note the pin number and what prompted and PIN and click Connect and you should be able to go online wireless on your computer.

There is something called ALERT POPUP running in background. preventing me from opening my shortcut LELA.

    Try this McKieus

I had exactly the same problems that you described with technical support. I found this link in a post by Basiltoo on 12/15/2008. It worked for me. Previously, I had the x 86 machine error when loading the software upgrade. I have a 64 bit system. There are still a few problems with some of the options, but most of the time it works.  The link is http://update.linksys.com/autoupdate/

I also uninstalled LELA however add remove programs and restarted before I installed the new version. On the new version, he has a place where it asks if you have a 64 bit system. If you choose the download you receive will be correct and you should not get the 'x 86' mistake.'

He seems also to stop correctly in this new version.

    Good luck.

    It worked for me.

  • Extend a home network with two router WRT160N.

    Hey guys,.

I have a WRT160N and router WRT160N v2. I would like to extend my home network, so that I have more bandwidth throughout different areas in my house.  Should I create one of these routers as Repeater or maybe even a bridge? If so, how would I go all this?

    Thank you!

    -Jay-

    1. If you are referring to wireless bridge, this router is NOT capable of it. You must use separate bridge wireless to connect to Router 2.

    2 cable to fill, but is possible. Here is the Setup of this one;

    3. instead of a 2nd router, use a wireless access point

  • PC cable loss of internet connection with router WRT160N V2

I'm new to routers and I just added a router WRT160N (V2).  Wireless through my laptop is great. However, I have 1 PC connected physically to the router. The internet connection is sporadic on this PC. I have "wireless" internet service high speed and sometimes you click internet or check your emails, and there is no internet connection. It seems to be after the PC has been idle for a while. When you click on the internet icon PC on the router not even flashes her - it's like the PC and the router do not speak. If it does not connect, the connection is great. Any help would be appreciated!

There is a known problem with intermittent connectivity and firmware to build 11 for the WRT160N V2. 11 is the current firmware on the Linksys site. Check if you have 11 build if your router is a V2.
Downgraded to build 8 fits usually correct these deficiencies, but Linksys told several people that they do not have firmware version 8 to give end users.

It's ONLY for the WRT160N V2 router. This firmware will not work on WRT160N V1.

You can find it at http://audipages.com/router/

Follow download them and instructions to downgrade firmware on this page.

  • Router WRT160N v2 lose wired connections have to restart the router, then all is well again.

    Hi all...

I'm having some trouble with my WRT160N v2 router, now I use it only to share the internet connection between wired PC.

I have tride (with the help of live chat) to reduce the size of the MTU to 1300, with no success, also an update of the firmware was informed, but I can't find an update for the version "v2" of the WRT160N router.

    The behavior is really funny:

-Get random msgs "cable network is disconnected" and "local network connection is now connected".

    * plugged direct cable from my modem to the PC then there is no problem, me makes me believe cables are ok

-Some sites don't be loading not on two PCs connected to the router, Firefox and IE8 trough during live chat, confirmed the site is up, it's as if something is stuck in the cache of the router or something that prevents some loading sites, sites that happen are random, the browser are not even a real attempt to connect but go now empty.

-Repair windows and hollow EasyLink advisor will have no effect, Easylink advisor indicates that the connection is good when it doesn't appear, restart the router is always fix the problems (for a while)

Here are the instructions to DOWNGRADE the WRT160N V2, DO NOT USE this on VERSION 1 or 3, it will turn your router into a door stop!

I'm very disappointed with the quality of the product. He did everything since it was purchased. I personally would have sent in for repair, but others in my household would not have agreed to that.

  • Linksys Router WRT160N - Wireless does not connect to the cable modem

I installed the Linksys WRT160n router to replace an existing G router. When installed the new wireless router works, but the router does not receive a connection (IP address - look under status) of the cable modem (so no internet). When I reconnect the old router and then connect the new router, I get any internet connection through two routers (so the old dishes router the IP address that accepts the new router).

I have configured the router N new for

"Automatic configuration - DHCP", no need for connection, IP address dynamic, etc (as required by ISP - Timewarner)

I tried to renewal and release IP address by the router N when it is connected directly to the main switch (the switch to connect to the cable modem). In so doing, shouldn't that assign a new IP address to the router?

I am allowed 3 IPs from the cable company (because of the switch) and I use all three with three different internet IP cameras to each address for home security system.

Any suggestions on why the router is not connecting to the internet? Do I need to reboot physically everything on the network, including the cable modem?

If I understand your post, you said that your ISP gives you 3 Internet IP addresses and you have 3 cameras that use one of these Internet IP addresses.  If this is correct, then that leaves no IP Internet address for your WRT160N use - so that would explain why your WRT160N cannot get an Internet connection.

If I misread your post, and you have an Internet IP address available for the WRT160N, you might have a problem with your modem and two WRT160N tries to use the same 192.168.1.x subnet.  To check this, follow these steps:

    (1) Please indicate addresses that use your cameras (IE before you take the test below).  If the addresses do not begin with 192.168, then erase the last half of each address.

    (2) Please indicate your ISP

    (3) Please indicate the make and exact model of your modem (not the WRT160N) number.

    (4) Please do the following test:

Put your entire network.  Disconnect the switch (including cameras) to the modem.  Using an ethernet cable, connect your modem directly to your computer.  (Do not use the WRT160N for this test).  Turn on the modem and the computer.  Make sure you have an active Internet connection, then go ahead with what follows: (even if your Internet connection does not work, include this and move forward.)

Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig/all" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key.   Copy all results in your next post.  To make the copy, highlight the results, and then use the keys copy (Ctrl-c) and paste (Ctrl-v) keys.  If your "IP address" does not begin with 192.168, then for security reasons, delete the latter half of your IP address.

  • When you set the IP address of the router, WRT160N Inaccessible

    Hello

I bought a WRT160N router yesterday and eagerly tried to connect my laptop to the internet (ADSL) modem using this router. As my ADSL modem is a router DHCP too, and I want to keep it like that, I have it plugged in ethernet cable form one of my ADSL modem/router, LAN ports in one of the LAN ports on the modem, Linksys have the Linksys operating as a bridge. However when I tried to specify an address of router static IP (192.168.1.254) in the basic parameters of configuration Linksys Panel, disabled the DHCP setting and saved, I could not connect to the router more using this new IP address - my browser tells me that the Web page doesn't seem to exist, but it cannot establish a connection with her. Then I have to reset the router in order to access configuration panels using the default address 192.168.1.1. Is there a reason why I cannot access the control panels of the router with the new IP address of the router that I've specified?

    Thanks for any help,

    Hello

the problem is resolved, be it in a different way. I tried your trick to wait 30 seconds after the registration and the recycling of the modem, but this had no effect. What helped does not change the settings for address IP Routerl and the setting from the DHCP server on the router for the disabled at the same time. If I only changed the setting to the IP address of the router and recorded, the modem has been reset automatically and starts with the new correct router address. After that I changed the setting of DHCP server to the WRTN160 to off and then I was able to get the router working, like I wanted.

I assume that when you connect the router to a computer reset (after taking out the IP address of the computer) with DHCP from the active router, the router assigns an IP address to the computer that somehow interferes with the local IP address parameter, if you define that at the same time.

In any case, all work now, and I have excellent signal everywhere in the House. I guess that congratulations go to me :-) but still thanks to eliminate one possible cause of the problem

    Kind regards

    Gerard

  • Trying to install wireless router WRT160N

Here's my network setup: cable modem adapter VOIP phone to a wired router to 2 desktops

I plugged the ethernet cable from the modem cable in blue port 1 of the wireless router, plugged the blue cable on port internet and then connected to the WAN port on the VOIP adapter.  Also tried the reverse (ethernet cable to the Internet port, blue cable in port 1 and then to the WAN adapter VOIP port).  Or work of configuration and installation is not complete.

The configuration above puts the router in front of the VOIP wireless and wired routers.  Should I put the router wirelessly between the VOIP adapter and wired router or maybe AFTER the wired router at the end of the network?

I thought about it - the VOIP adapter must be first online... so now, my configuration is modem cable---> VOIP adapter--->--->---> computers wired router wireless router

Thanks for trying to help anyway!
