NAS disk and iTunes problems

I am now the proud owner of a brand new iMac (retina 5K, 27 inches, end of 2015) and throws to transfer all my music, movies and videos from my old PC (XP) to the iMac. My library on the PC is just under 2 TB and, being the nerd that I am, all of the associated good album and film art. Having had a few attempts of unsucsessfull trying to all transfer to the SIN of the PC to see none of the cover of the album is looming, I wonder now if someone here has had the same experience as me and has a solution. Any help gratefully received. Thank you.

Album artwork is stored with other library files in the iTunes folder, which is a complete library. If you have only media on the outside, then you have only media.

Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/ALT key to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.

Using a NAS may be accompanied by a wide range of puzzling and intractable issues.  Browse this forum.

  • Compatibility problem with Vista and iTunes

I downloaded iTunes 9 on my Tobisha laptop Satellite last night and put about 2.5 GB of music on it. I didn't upload the music from the internet. I used MP3s, I had for a few years.

When I went to boot up the laptop this morning the loading process took some time, but it never loaded to the login screen. I just see the bottom of MicroSoft. Is there a compatibility problem with Vista and iTunes? Maybe I put too much music on my laptop?

Boot in safe mode and delete iTunes and all the music I downloaded would solve the problem? Or it is less simple than that?

Don't know where to direct this question if any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

iTunes is compatible with Vista and there should not be any problem.
Yesterday, I installed iTunes 9 on my U400 and everything happened correctly.
If your laptop can not boot Vista correctly, then you should try the repair feature.

Turn on the computer and press F8. Now you will see the advanced boot menu.
    Now, you have many choices.

As a first step, you should try the option called: last good known Configuration (Advanced)

If this will not help and the Vista will not start then try the option called repair your computer. This option displays a list of system recovery tools, you can use to repair startup problems, run diagnostics, or restore your system.

If that does not help, then you will need to retrieve the unit using the Toshiba recovery disc or HARD drive recovery.

    Problem reinstalling Windows XP

I'm having a problem reinstalling Windows XP.  After formatting the disk and create partitions, it will not complete the installation.  He goes back and reinstall Windows again.  I go through the installation of 39 minutes, the computer restarts to complete and it loops back and start the installation again. Why it does this and what I can do to move beyond this?

Go into the BIOS and make sure that you your hard drive is not set to off, and that is the first priority boot CD and your second HD.

Don't push when it restarts anything just to let him do what he does and report back if anything I'm sorry I have no idea.

  • Problems running the check disk and disk defragmentation

I tried to throw a disc defrgmentation and I ask rubbing a disk check I don't know how. I tried to go to the Run comand.com, which is written ' chchdsk/f' and tells me that it is a function of "read only". My system information, it says I have Service Pack 3. Help, please. Everything else works fine.

When you run chkdsk /f in the command prompt window, you should see a message like this:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock the current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.  You want to schedule this volume to be
checked on the next reboot of the system
    ? (Y/N)
If you answer "Yes" by typing Y, chkdsk /f turns to the next boot XP (or he will try to run).
When chkdsk runs automatically restart either because XP thinks he needs to (perhaps your NTFS volume has been marked as dirty) or you have chosen to do it yourself, the results appear in the viewing Application event log.  You should look there for the chkdsk log and no problems after running chkdsk.
To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.
A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run, and in the box enter (or copy and paste):
    %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc
Click OK to launch the event viewer.
Look in the Application log for a recent event proposed Winlogon, and it should look like this:

When I restart my computer it say "Disk Boot error, if please install disk and press a key:?"

    Hello

    1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    2. have you changed the BIOS boot device?

    3. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    This could be related to:

    · Startup options is not correctly defined in the BIOS

    · A non bootable CD is in your CD player

    · You don't have any boot device

    · You have installed a new hard drive

    · The hard drive is not properly connected

    · Your system files have been infected

Change the boot order in the CMOS (BIOS) settings so that your disc is the first in the list.

    a. restart the computer.
    b. new computers often display a startup (or boot) menu. In the start menu, choose "Configuration of the BIOS," or "BIOS settings," or something similar.

Procedures vary depending on the manufacturer of the BIOS. Usually, you must press a key (for example, F2, F12, DELETE, ESC) or a combination of keys immediately after you
turn on your computer but before Windows starts. If the Windows logo appears, you must try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer again.

    c. the BIOS configuration screen appears. On the BIOS Setup screen, choose the option called "Boot order" or something similar. Startup command settings can also be saved
under "Advanced settings" or something similar.
    d. Select your drive from DVD or USB drive as first boot device.
    e. restart your computer and see if the problem is resolved.

Home premium Windows Vista, 64-bit operating system

    Hello

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    ____________________________________________________________

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

    __________________________________________________________

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Error setting in the form of CD - RW problem: Windows cannot format this type of disc. Insert another disk and try again.

Original title: problem formatting CD - RW

I want to copy some files (word documents) on a CD - RW. I just bought a new box of these discs: Memorex high speed 12 X 800 MB 80 min

When I put a disc in my d drive, I get the following error message:Windows cannot format this type of disc.  Insert another disk and try again.

However, I went in the d drive and clicked on delete, just to see if it would work.  It recognizes the disc as a CD - RW, and erased, and said I could now burn files to it.  I tried to copy the files to and and again got the error message.

If anyone can help me with this problem, I would be very happy!

    Thank you!

    Hi mariec59,

1 does happen with all disks?
    2. what program you use to burn the disc?

We recommend you to check if the problem persists with another disc.
We also recommend to run the troubleshooter for CD/DVD playback and burning. To do this, try the following steps:
    a. see play CD/DVD and burning issues.
    b. click Microsoft hotfix and run the tool successfully.
    c. restart the computer and check if the problem persists.

Also, see burn a CD or DVD in Windows Media Player

  • Why the SAN disks and drives NAS recognized differently by the computer?

    Hi all;

I'm a newbie in the sharing of storage.
Why the SAN disks and drives NAS recognized differently by the computer? Computer sees SAN disks as local drives, NAS drives as network drive, even if they are all connected to the computer by the same network topology.
I knew that SAN uses the block level transfer to transfer data all in SIN use level file transfer. Is that what this has something to do with which SAN and NAS drives are recognized differently by the computer? If so, how?

    Thank you.

  • I tried to reload XP using my drive but it failed due to a hardware or software problem, XP is stuck in a loop and does not load. How can I clean my disks and reload XP?

I have a HP XP of 2005. After a year of use of a premium support tech, my OS must be installed.

I used the disk and followed the installation steps. I received a message on there was a hardware or software that would effect the install and may not work properly. In any case, I continued and of course I am stuck in a loop.

I can't go to my office.

First of all, I get a notice on a black screen to select the operating system to start. There are 2 identical choices. Microsoft Media edition.

Once selected, a screen appears. "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully.
a recent hardware or software change might have caused this. "

I have enough to make choices and none work.

    1. choose the last known good configuration to return to the most recent settings that worked. :

    2. do not apply

    3. There is a selection in the Safe Mode with command prompt and if I had used the F8 key to reinstall this option would have worked. To do this, do not hurry.

what I get is a list of drivers that are installed.

I'M IN A LOOP BETWEEN CHOOSE TO START WINDOWS WITH MICROSOFT XP THEN A NEW SCREEN APPEARS, WHATEVER I HAVE THAT LISTS THE CHOICES ABOVE.

I need help reload my OS and wipe the hard drive clean. Is there a software I can download to help?

  • WD my cloud and iTunes do not find files

I bought a WD mycloud 4TB NAS to unload my iTunes files and photos from my Mac.  I don't want it as a back up that I have a time machine that is dedicated for backups. I want to delete the files from my hard drive on my mac and iTunes from the form of NAS files.

I spent countless hours to search through messages and to try everything without success. I copied my music/iTunes folder on my NAS and it created a folder called iTunes. All files and folder structure seems good. I start iTunes with the option key is finished and select choose library. I then navigate to my new iTunes on the NAS folder. It "looks like" my songs and movies are all there after iTunes lance, however in the upper left corner, I noticed a symbol of home with a

up and down arrow. When I choose that I have two options, 1 with check mark beside my computer and below not controlled is account. If I select account, it shows me that a blank iTunes with 'WDMMycloud' has no music? (or all that content so that ever).

I put the iTunes from the copy folder in the folder under my name of user NAS.  My only options are:

    my user name

    PUblic

    SMartWare

    TImeMachineBackup

can I somehow do it copied on the conduit of the root and not in a folder?  Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a WD NAS, but other messages that I get the WD has print server software to serve as a library as a shared item. Maybe that's what you see?  I have heard others mention small houses or anything like that when they ask about it to a normal hard disk.

To move a library you copy just the Media folder, you copy the folder iTunes integer.

With the help of NAS is a popular idea for iTunes libraries. The problem is iTunes and NAS don't get along together, and maybe it's your first visit here.

  • "stuttering" 12.4.3.1 iTunes problem

I installed Apple music a few months ago and have been a variety of issues since doing so. The most common (and annoying) problem, it is that iTunes now has a problem of "stutter" when he plays music is in my iTunes library on my hard drive. It is not a connectivity problem, as I am not streaming. (It's actually better when I listen to music from Apple). The problem is really bad when iPhoto is open. The minute I stop this request, the problem goes away. I did all the updates that are available. My computer works perfectly in all other aspects. I am at a total loss.

Any ideas on what could happen?

    Mac Pro (early 2009)

    iTunes 12.4.3.1

    Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.6

    Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz

    12 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC

For good performance with El Capitan, recommend more than 16 GB of memory, but as your question was raised only with the recent update, this is probably not the cause.

    Two things...

    1. check how much you have free space on the disk. If it is less than 15% or 20 GB, try to release more;

    2. try the startup mode course and see if it helps.

    -----

Hold down the SHIFT key at startup. Secure boot is quite slow because the operating system performs certain tasks of cleaning and verification of file, so give it time. Once you're completely connected, restart normally.

  • iPod connection and synchronization problems classic160GB

I have a well taken in charge iPod classic 160GB. Worked perfectly until...

Since the upgrade to the latest OS (iMac), I've been prone to random error when updating of my music. Essentially (1) the device is still connected and there is no apparent way to perform a good ejection process (2) and synchronization fails after many hours and don't care only about 100 songs.

Thus, it seems that the iPod is ok mechanically. I have reset the device and formatted the HARD drive. This allowed then the synchronization process works correctly. Yesterday I downloaded the songs on the iTunes store and wanted on the iPod - same problems error has occurred.

Would it not make sense to go back to an earlier version of the operating system? and iTunes? (same iTunes appears unstable now...)

I see that this timing issue is quite common with this unit holders and it seems to be common, because support was arrested for this camera - I'd be cynical? Why isn't Apple in the face of what it comes to very bad reputation management - total contempt for Affairs of its user base?

I always use what is apparently a good piece of hardware, but I'm extremely frustrated as a user. Any body found the corrective action? If so, what is it?

LAST: I left Apple and bought a Sony HD camera. Why? as a result of these frustrations. I'm now evaluate whether to consider other Apple devices that are close to replacement (viz, Ipad, MacBook Pro (17 "), iMAc) with non-Apple devices. This is how frustrated and I'm in a bad mood.

Please, if you know a solution, I am very willing to try that.

Problems with synchronization is often caused by a hard drive which becomes unreliable.  Hard drives are mechanical and ends by fail, computers and iPods.  I have much older iPods (4th gen, 3rd generation and iPod mini) that are more than 10 years at this point.  They still work perfectly fine with the latest version of OS X and iTunes.  I replaced the fragile hard drives in three of these iPods with Compact Flash card or an SD card on an adapter.  For the 5th generation and later iPods, you can look here for more information

    https://www.iFlash.xyz/

I see that this synchronization problem is quite common with this unit-holders...

It's not just 'common good' considering there are millions of iPods (with storage on hard disk) still serving there.  However, if you see more cases of these days, the reason is obvious.  They age, on average.  The iPod classic model was released back in 2007.  Old things tend to start fault for various reasons, including defective hard drive.
