• Satellite U840W - how it works with SSD and HDD drives?

  I have a U840W which is a beautiful piece of work. He currently heads the Win7.
  It has a hybrid drive system, SSD 32 G and 500G HARD drive. Apparently the 32G acts as a cache.

  I tried to install Linux Mint as a dual boot with Win7.

  Cannot make it work. The installation process (Ubiquity) does not see disks or partitions.
  In a file manager or the GPart-partition manager, I see the HARD drive and all partitions.

  Help me to help the developers of the ubiquity of the problem of access to disks I can get a

  I have an acer Aspire V5 - 571P running Windows 8.1 all service packs and updates are installed.  I have a Western Digital My Passport USB 3.0 capable external hard drive.  If I plug it into a USB 2.0 on my Acer, it shows very well.  If I plug it into the USB 3.0 port on my Surface Pro 2, it appears very well, but if I plug it into the USB 3.0 port on the Acer, it never appears at all.  Nothing shows up in disk management, nothing is displayed in the file Explorer.  Is there an updated driver for USB 3.0 for this laptop that I'm missing?  There is not one of those listed in the downloads section...

• Best practices for storage and backups on internal and external drives

  I have a Mac laptop and I would like your advice on how to organize the storage of files on internal and external drives and how optimizes it the backup plan.

  From now on, my organization of file storage is:

  I keep my most important files on the internal disk of SSD encrypted and less critical files on an encrypted external drive (format ExFAT). This external hard drive was errors, so I bought a new Laetitia 2 Tb drive that I formatted in Mac OS journaled with encryption instead of ExFAT, to replace.

  For backups, I do not use Time Machine, but I use an application that synchronizes files between two disks. By using this application, I first sync the essential document on the SSD files internal to the external drive, and then I synchronize all the external drive to another external drive.

  My question is, if I keep this Organization of file storage or I should, for example just move all my files, critical and non-critical for the internal SSD (I could make enough room for that) and then backup up the whole Mac with Time Machine? Or there is a better way to organize files in this scenario?

  The second question is, if it is better to keep the Organization as it split storage (internal, less critical on external criticism) is what would be the best way to back up everything?

  First of all, to the ExFAT is the problem, I suggest that the reader will just physically hurt.  ExFAT is perfectly acceptable as a format where Mac and PC can read/write.  You may have reacted a little leaving ExFAT for HFS, but you have made your choice and adapts to it.

  Here is how I operate my backups:

  I use CCC (CarbonCopyClone, $40, bombich.com).  It copies the boot sectors, drive, mapping, recovery Partition (these three are 'invisible' to DiskUtility for most) as well as system partitions and data records 'other'.  These other disks may be internal for clone-to-test-new-OSX in multi-disc systems or external for backup purposes.  The beauty is that you can start an external clone in a system crash, then CCC will be re - copy the active external clone on a new/fixed internal drive.

  Encryption isn't something I know, but... If only the content of the system partition and data is encrypted, it * could * be OK for clone-back to partition-as-encrypted partitions.  If you clone internal external the external partition is active and copy the 'encrypted plan', while small adjustments are made so that the race could be bad.  Copy of the files on my partitions unencrypted change interrupt because they are individual files.

  As an alternative, you could have a system drive that does CCC charge, let the clone encrypted and encrypted internal idle and just copy the entire map with the 'third system' active.

  I have a laptop HP (pavilion dv7-1245dx) and the hard drive is dead. I had never gotten to burn my recovery disks, so I ordered new ones from HP. When I installed the new hard drive and popped in the disk to reinstall the operating system, it gave me the error message:

  "This PC is not supported by the system recovery discs. You can continue to recover this system with these discs. »

  Error code: 0100-30 FC-3602-3603

  The original hard drive was a Hitachi, 320 GB SATA

  The new hard drive is a WD 500 GB SATA

  Any assistance anyone can give would be great. :]

  EDIT: Trying to recover a Vista operating system

  For anyone who has the same problem, I found a solution. I cloned the original hard drive using the Clonezilla fallback option. After using Clonezilla to image on the new hard disk, the partition which held that most of the data of the laptop is not mountable, however the partition containing the restore partition was a perfect copy. I turned on the computer, hit escape to access the menu (for a list of options such as boot order, etc, which included an option for recovery), and then choose recovery option. While the recovery discs, I received from HP refused to work with the new hard drive, the Vista restored cloned recovery partition without flaw.

  Your best approximation is CREATE TYPE, but their is nothing of what is a 100% adjustment.

  For example, if you create a domain with a check constraint you need to implement than separately on each table.

• Lightroom Workflow with 2 portable external drives and old Macbook Pro?

  I am considering buying two portable external drives 2 to USB 3.0 WD for use with Lightroom.  I save the original photos on the external hard drive, an and save backups of these photos on external hard drive 2.    I have a laptop MacBook Pro older (early 2011) and understand that even if USB 3.0, as my laptop drives will always use only 2.0 because of his age and will be more slow, but still OK in general.  This will be too slow to use Lightroom for my laptop to access photos that are on the external hard drive #1 for editing?  For reasons of speed, to the seller for external drives has suggested that I have first save my photos on my laptop computer, edit them there using lightroom and then then save original photos of external drive (as the teacher) and two external drive (as backup).  He then suggested that I delete photos from my laptop to keep storage here low.  That looks like it would defeat the purpose of Lightroom, and I would say even not sure if links with my changes would remain unchanged.  (I'm new to Lightroom).  The seller said that he was not a user of Lightroom.   Please advise on an appropriate workflow to edit, save, and back up effectively with an older MacBook Pro laptop.

  I worked with images on an external hard drive in the past and have never experienced performance problems in doing so. You can keep your catalog on the external drive as well. In this way, the hard drive can be moved from one computer to another if necessary.

  Animated images from your hard drive of the laptop on the external drive will not lose the settings because all settings are stored in the catalog. If you do all your withdraw in Lightroom and then the program keep track where the images and all settings are retained. But unless you are experiencing a kind of performance achieved by working with your images on an external drive, I do not think that there is no advantage in editing and then get out them externally.
